'State of Decay 2' brings a zombie horde to Xbox on May 22nd

Just when you thought you were safe, it's time to fight for survival again. State of Decay 2 is coming on May 22nd, and it's bringing a zombie invasion the likes of which players have never seen before. As we revealed in our preview last year, the sequel takes "kill or be killed" to a whole new level, as you'll be heading up a team of survivors and ultimately deciding who lives or dies. The game launches on Xbox One and PC, with two access tiers that suggest the State of Decay franchise is paving the way for the subscription gaming service that Xbox chief Phil Spencer has nodded towards before.

The game launches as an Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Game Pass title on May 22, with the standard edition priced at $30. For $50 though, you'll get the ultimate edition, which includes access four days ahead of general release, plus two add-on packs: "Independence" and "Daybreak" (both of which will be available at a later release date). The ultimate edition also includes a download token for a bonus copy of the console version of State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition. Pre-orders for both editions opens today, and if you get your order in before May 21 you'll also get some exclusive in-game goodies.

"Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise," says Aaron Greenberg, general manager of games marketing at Microsoft. Indeed, it's a franchise that could well lend itself to the kind of set-up developer Telltale has with its Game of Thrones and Walking Dead franchises, where narrative-based games are released episodically. Microsoft has clearly put a lot of investment into this release, so it's not impossible that it'll go on to form the foundations of some kind of game-as-service or platform, as Spencer has previously suggested.

New Xbox One Avatars spotted in action in Windows Dev Day presentation

While very little news has been given on the progress of the new Xbox Avatars since their initial announcement several months ago, they did make a very brief appearance during yesterday’s Microsoft Developers Day presentation which can be streamed here.

The appearance of the new Xbox Avatars happens within the opening montage and is only seen on screen for a few seconds. What is shown though is a new Xbox Avatar being displayed on the Xbox One’s Dashboard in much the same way that the current iterations are today (see below image).

These new digital characters will be noticeably more detailed than the current version and will feature greater customizability with skin tone, hair color, accessories, and even limbs. The new and improved Xbox Avatars are expected to roll out to Xbox One owners in a system update sometime in early 2018 though no specific date has officially been given just yet. They will also be used within the Xbox app on Windows 10 devices and smartphones.

Do you like the style of the new Xbox Avatars and are you looking forward to them arriving on your Xbox One console? Share your thoughts with the community in the comments below.

Microsoft’s diverse new Xbox Live avatars will launch in April

Available in preview this month

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j69H1aDNgRw

Microsoft is planning to launch its new Xbox Live Avatars next month.
The software giant first unveiled the redesigned avatars at E3 last year, and originally planned to provide them to Windows 10 users by the end of 2017.
Microsoft missed that target, but sources familiar with the company’s Xbox plans tell The Verge that it will preview the new avatars to Xbox Insiders this month.
Microsoft’s Xbox employees already have access to the new avatar system, and the Xbox Alpha group of testers will get access first before they’re broadly available next month.

The new avatars will let you fully customize your online character with new body type options, clothing, and props.
Microsoft is offering a variety of options that focus on diversity, and the company’s original trailer showed an amputee, playful costumes, wheelchairs, skateboards, and even motorbikes to highlight all of the props and customization that will be available.
We understand Microsoft is also planning to open a new avatar store in May, allowing Xbox Live users to purchase props, clothing, and additional customizations for their avatars. Microsoft’s previous avatar system, designed for the Xbox 360 era, also had its own store. The new avatars are created in the Unity engine, making it a lot easier to customize them and add additional props.
They’re designed to replace the avatars originally introduced alongside the Xbox 360 in 2008. Sources tell us that Microsoft will eventually allow third-party developers to build their own props and clothing, and sell these items in Microsoft’s digital store.

So I decided to delete all the hacked games in my X1S and get original ones but I can't add a billing method because Nigeria isn't available. How do I resolve this, please?

Best console of last Gen i give it up for xbox360 which is Built with durable nd efficient components. i ve one actually and its been like ages nd its still waxing stronger. Plays games with no issues, runs everything u throw at it on hours of gaming non-stop. Very sad i will switch to ps4 in spite of all its lapses but i just cant help it but be wowed by every exclusives that piece of console keeps spawning. How i wish Sony will be more forthcoming with their console build quality but instead they seem less concerned in making their console last longer without having to breakdown overtime. Well, so far they make more u buy more,we can all sing kumbaya. undecided

There is no billing problem. Maybe there used to be. Upgrade your console to the latest os and switch your location to Nigeria. Add your card. I’ve used my wife’s zenith and my Stanbic on it. My friend uses gtb and another uses...I can’t remember. If I get home today I’ll check what store my console is connected to. I know I just selected Nigeria and that was all she wrote. This is a PS4 problem. You shouldn’t suffer it.

Microsoft adding PUBG to Xbox Game Pass on November 12th

Microsoft is adding Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) to the company’s Xbox Game Pass subscription on November 12th. The addition means Xbox One users who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for $9.99 will now be able to access PUBG, alongside more than 100 others.

Microsoft’s move to add PUBG to Xbox Game Pass comes just as rumors suggest the game is about to launch on Sony’s PlayStation 4 in December. Microsoft appears to have paid for a year of exclusivity on the Xbox One for PUBG, but a move to PS4 opens the game up to millions more as it continues to battle with the popularity of rival Fortnite.

Microsoft has been consistently pushing Xbox Game Pass, just as the company is exploring game streaming with its xCloud service. It’s clearly a big part of Microsoft’s future Xbox plans, and the company has committed to releasing all of its first-party titles through Xbox Game Pass. As part of this PUBG addition, new Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to access the service for a month for $1 during the holiday season.
