EXCLUSIVE: In his book, Jonathan accuses Obama of interfering in Nigeria’s 2015 elections

Former president Goodluck Jonathan says ex-US President Barack Obama meddled in Nigeria’s 2015 presidential election, TheCable can report.

In excerpts of his book, ‘The Transition Hours’, made available to TheCable, Jonathan said Obama sent his secretary of state, John Kerry, and made a video broadcast to Nigerians in ways designed to influence the outcome of the election against him.

He described the actions of Obama as “humiliating”.

Jonathan, flying the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost the election to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and conceded while the final results were yet to be announced — a step unprecedented in Nigeria’s history.

The election had been moved from February 14 to March 28 in controversial circumstances, although the Jonathan government maintained that it was because of the security situation caused by the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east.

In the book, Jonathan tried to justify the rescheduling of the elections but dismissed claims that he was trying to elongate his tenure.

‘THIS IS HYPOCRISY’

He wrote: “I can recall that President Obama sent his Secretary of State to Nigeria, a sovereign nation, to protest the rescheduling of the election. John Kerry arrived in Nigeria on Sunday January 25, 2015 and said ‘it’s imperative that these elections happen on time as scheduled’.

“How can the US Secretary of State know what is more important for Nigeria than Nigeria’s own government? How could they have expected us to conduct elections when Boko Haram controlled part of the North East and were killing and maiming Nigerians? Not even the assurance of the sanctity of the May 29, 2015 handover date could calm them down. In Nigeria, the constitution is very clear. No President can extend his tenure by one day.

“On March 23, 2015, President Obama himself took the unusual step of releasing a video message directly to Nigerians all but telling them how to vote. In that video, Obama urged Nigerians to open the ‘next chapter’ by their votes. Those who understood subliminal language deciphered that he was prodding the electorate to vote for the opposition to form a new government. The message was so condescending, it was as if Nigerians did not know what to do and needed an Obama to direct them.

“In his message, he said ‘all Nigerians must be able to cast their votes without intimidation or fear,’ yet his government was vehemently and publicly against the postponement of the elections to enable our military defeat Boko Haram and prevent them from intimidating voters. This was the height of hypocrisy!”

Jonathan said the foreign pressure on the issue of election rescheduling was intense, suggesting that “the curious posture” was of one who had been “deceived before and therefore had every reason to cede no credence to our position. But there was no reason to have such a posture”.

He revealed that David Cameron, then the UK prime minister, called to express his concern about the election rescheduling, “just as John Kerry came from the United States to express further worry… In fact, John Kerry did not accept our reasons for the rescheduling”.

The former president said it was “unbelievable” because “we knew why the agitation was beyond what meets the eyes. There were deeper political interests”.

“In attendance at the meeting of the Council of State where the decision to reschedule the election was taken were almost all the living former Heads of State of this country. That should have convinced John Kerry of the good intentions of the government. He cannot claim to love and defend Nigeria more than all our former heads of state present at the meeting. I have stated earlier how Kerry’s visit was designed to humiliate a sitting Nigerian president and clearly take sides in the country’s election,” Jonathan wrote.

Obama is one of the Satanist that deceived Nigerians and supported this evil called Buhari to come to power and upturned what we have gained collectively as a country in sixteen years within three years of APC wicked rule and bring it to ruin.

No sane western leader will support this evil government that thrives on the blood of its own citizens for it to win another term in office.

God punish Obama!

CAN Fumes over John Kerry’s Meeting with Sultan, Northern Governors; Accuses U.S. of bias

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has accused the United States government of stoking ethnic and religious divisions in Nigeria, after the U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, visited the Sultan of Sokoto and northern governors.

The group said Christians were excluded from Mr. Kerry’s visit between Monday and Tuesday.Mr. Kerry travelled to Sokoto where he met the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, who is the head of Nigeria’s Muslim community. He later met President Muhammadu Buhari, before meeting governors of northern states.

In an interview with journalists on Thursday, CAN said Mr. Kerry’s visit was “discriminatory, personal and divisive”.The group said Mr. Kerry should stop interfering in the internal affairs of the country, alleging that the visit was aimed at furthering the federal government’s plan to continue to persecute the teeming population of Nigerian Christians.

The president of CAN, Rev. Supo Ayokunle, said Mr. Kerry’s “lack of respect for the heterogeneous nature of Nigeria, amounted to favouring northern Nigeria and Muslims to the detriment of the Christian community”.

He said the disposition of the Secretary of States supported claims that the Barack Obama administration openly supported the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2015 general elections, which produced the current leadership of the country.
“Why did he meet with 19 states governors, without southern governors, is Nigeria the north alone, why did you go to the north alone?” he asked.

“There’s a siege on Christians. Kerry, his actions speak volume, his actions, body language were very divisive.
“If US Secretary of States is coming for official visit, it’s understandable, but we demand explanation why he was selective. Has the sultan palace become another state house? Was Kerry invited by the Sultan?

“We have 36 States in Nigeria; he only selected northern governors to meet with them. It was a visit to the north, not to Nigeria. It was surely a very divisive visit. With the visit to the north, Kerry’s visit has heightened fear and tension among Christians in Nigeria, if they cannot bring us together, they should not interfere in our affairs.”

2015 is long gone past. However the meddling role played by the then Obama government helped to influenced the outcome esp.Kerry's only visit to the northern Nigeria region & the sensitive but disgusting and rejected LGBT issue

Thereafter karma visited Obama & Clinton lost.Same thing will happen again in 2019 as the government they helped to institute will be kick out.

We knew this. The Democratic establishment in the US used CNN as their mouth piece to run down Goodluck's government. We all know how Isha Sesay of CNN worked hard to cast aspersions on GEJ's government with biased reports about the Boko Haram insurgency. She was so engrossed in running down GEJ that the passion of falsehood eventually consumed her job with CNN. That is the same job CNN are doing today against President Trump. These are agents of darkness!

It's obvious that Obama couldn't forgive GEJ for rejecting his LGBT madness.

God bless GEJ for being an exemplary democrat.

We know Obama never wanted President GEJ.
Reelected.

Because GEJ, rejected most of his policies.

E.g same sex marriage.

So, he wanted someone lifeless that he can remote.

Now that's he's out, and Hillary is also out. NTÔÓÓR!!!

GEJ is still as shameless and clueless as he was as president.
You had the Bokoharam problem since 2010 as president where they were raining bombs all over Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Suleja, Lokoja, Yola, etc. for 5 solid years. Instead of tackling it head-on, you and Dasuki turned it into a billion dollar looting industry and left the people unprotected.
Then 2wks to the election you decided to perform wonders by pushing Bokoharam away so elections can take place for you to get 4 extra years of looting.
How is this guy some people's hero abeg

Regarding the video, I watched it then and always knew Obama wanted a less corrupt president to emerge. And I already was going to vote out GEJ before watching it.
The US has always believed that once Nigeria gets it right, a large population of Africans will benefit and then the rest of Africa will get it right also.
The US isn't happy to be giving aids and donations to a rich country like Nigeria because of massive looting of their treasury by the leaders.

Sad to see GEJ remains this misguided to this day.

He lost the elections because he was a shitty, mediocre leader. End of story.

I watched the Obama video. He only exhorted Nigerians to cast their vote to defeat Boko Haram and return children to their parents. GEJ is not even ashamed to say that what he understands from the video is that most Nigerian voters did not believe in his ability to defeat Boko Haram and secure peace.

That clip was condescending. Imagine a Nigerian President issuing a video clip addressing Americans about voting for their president on the eve of a presidential election.

Obama behaved more or less like a lecturer-in-chief during his presidency. But little did he know history would have other ideas in his country with the election of his archrival and no-nonsense American to succeed him as POTUS after a bitter campaign.

His recent endorsements for governor in Georgia and Florida, and their eventual outcomes is a pointer to current realities. Politics would keep evolving all the same.
