A pastor was accused of reciting the Japanese national anthem all in the name of speaking in tongues. He was busted when a Japanese came to worship in his church and heard him. Church members took law into their hands and mobbed the man of God.

Well I'm not really sure about this, he could be genuine. After all the first people to speak in tongue, spoke foreign languages and It surprised those who heard them.

looking for lesser praying effort, that believes that speaking in tongues,
especially with using the voice and/or vocal cords, is praying in some mysterious heavenly language

Nothing more than, lazy persons, way of looking for easier ways to pray things
and so "speaking in tongue as a prayer" is used as a crutch

Are any aware that, Paul downplays the importance of speaking in tongues
He, Paul, on record, even said, do not speak in tongues without an interpreter
This advice and guideline, is openly disregarded during gathering worships and/or prayer sessions

For Jews demand miraculous signs (i.e. ask for signs)
and Greeks ask for wisdom (i.e. philiosophy)

So you see that speaking in tongues is a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers.
Prophecy, however, is for the benefit of believers, not unbelievers.

For all the three recorded times, speaking in other tongues, occurred in the bible,
it is visibly noted that, it happened each time, for the benefit of unbelieving Jews

Also for any interested parties, that might have been misinformed, it is a well documented truth, as seen in 1 Corinthians 14:22 above
that speaking in tongues is not for believers, rather it is used as a sign for unbelievers (i.e. 1 Corinthians 1:22a)
