Good day everyone, first I wanna appreciate the great job you guys are doing over here.
Please am planning to buy my first car and will need your professional advices. I think am settling for Toks due to obvious factors around Naija used, but where I need help is which car can i get with a budget of btw 1.5 to 1.8M that will give me the best value for money? Honestly I love cars with lovely interior ( not plastic everywhere) and great dash board arrangement and facilities not forgetting great exterior look as well. Other factors to be considered are reliability, fuel economy and friendly maintenance cost and a luxury feel as well.
2004 ES330. Can't go wrong with that car, look for a fully loaded one with Mark Levinson stereo.

You can also look for a Mazda 6. Do your research well first, though.
An Acura TL is a good option, same with a 2005 Mercedes C240.
2006 Honda Accord is solid, too.

hi, nice work you guys doing here.
@nurey
@heavenlybang

please help, I'm having a hard time choosing between

Acura TL (FWD model), Lexus GS350 (RWD), Lexus ES350 (FWD)..... all 2009 model

Also which would you prefer for Nigerian roads between FWD, RWD, AWD.... thanks
GS350>Acura TL>ES350.

ES350 will probably be the most reliable.
GS350 is the best for a driver. Great performance and handling, and also has the best luxury.
TL has the best design, imo. I wouldn't get a TL without SH-AWD.

I'd buy the GS.

Please kindly help compare Camry muscle 2008 and peaugot 406, in terms of:

Key points :

Reliability (Based on everyday use)
Performance (Driving experience/Driving Style)
Practicality (Ease of maintenance and repairs)
Fuel Economy/Mileage
Vehicle Endurance (Ability to take some abuse)

I want to get my first car and confused which to pick
Thanks

Lol... surprisingly it seems I'm the only one who doesn't like the Acura design...plus the buttons/controls on the interior are much. I counted over 40... I just like it cos it's rare on the road but when i saw the interior of the GS I fell in love. I just needed more opinion to be sure my judgement isn't clouded by the classy interior. I'd go for the GS...

Thank you

The TL has a bold design. Most people online hate it, haha, but I love it. It's just do different. A TL has mad presence on the highway, presence that only the newer Mercedes have. If one passes with all lights blazing, you must look. cheesy

But yeah, I'd go with the GS. Best of the lot.

Hello Akanstic,

I have a car that I want to ship to Nigeria and hopefully, it would arrive December this year from Sweden. It's Peugeot 307 SW, with 7 sits (Bensin). 2002 model and the car is sound and good. As I write you the car is in Hamburg, Germany and I am waiting to receive the date the ship will depart Germany. Are you interested in that type of car? Write me for more information and photos of the car via lindagreisson@gmail.com

[Thanks alot for your swift response. I will Do a research on all the options you gave and make p my mind. Thanks once again uote author=nurey post=72750210]

1998-2005 lexus IS (200 for economy 300 for speed)

1999 to 2008 honda civic EX 2 different generations but great interior finish. Ensure it is EX trim

2003 to 2009 toyota corolla XLE or corolla Altis if your budget can afford it though slim. Has a bit luxurious finish than ordinary corolla. The Altis is Asian corolla may be converted ensure it was done well.

2010-2012 nissan sentra SL trim. This vehicle has a CVT ensure you use the right CVT fluid not ATF

if your term luxury is leather seats and driving dynamics then a 4cylinder old cargo benz C W202 or benz E W210 should suffice. You can also do a 4cylinder BMW E46 199x to 2005[/quote]

I don't really have experience in terms of car, and now I want to get another car.

My current budget is 3.5 - 4.5 million.
Which car can I go for? Your suggestions will be appreciated.

Looks, reliability, fuel economy, performance, luxury, etc?
Sedan or SUV?
Any car you already have in mind?

Hello all, I want to get a Japanese car in my fleet and I am caught in between 2 options now; 2007 Toyota Camry SE i4 vs 2006 Lexus ES330
Please consider the following as you help me do the comparison;
Speed
Balance; say on a speed between 140kmph and 160 kmph.
Maintenance
Resale Value
Power/ performance
Petrol Consumption.

Please kindly give a budget estimate for toks and Naija use (problem-free) for the two rides.
Thanks for your honest opinions.

your query is flawed you are pitching a lazy bone 2.4L 4cylinder 177hp camry against a grenade launcher 3.3L 6 cylinder 218hp ES330

speed
camry is a midsized sedan while the ES is a luxurious midsized sedan they weren't built for speed but off the record the ES is faster than camry.

Balance
The ES should top here due to its weight and engineering but if you are a regular interstate tourer in nigeria then you should be mindful of roads you will do 160kph on

maintenance
The camry should be cheaper on the pocket the only issue is the 2007 camry was plagued by transmission issues.

Resale
Trickish but I will give it to the camry expensive than the lexus or both almost on par.

power/performance
The lexus has more hp as for performance you will feel a difference in both when coming from a corolla. Don't expect anything extra ordinary not to end up throwing a ROD.

Fuel economy
The camry will give more miles per gallon compared to the the ES.

Verdict
The outward appearance of the ES makes it look like an over bloated camry big daddy though the interior and standard equipment are top notch. Its a luxurious vehicle that looks good and loaded on the inside but crappy on the outside tongue

The camry can be upgraded on the inside to feel like a luxurious vehicle which won't come cheap and least I forget it is a robber magnet

Thank you so much for your detailed analysis. I appreciate your comments. I'm not a fan of corolla. I'm coming from the Mercedes angle.
I am thinking of owning 2 vehicles for now; the 2006 c230 and 2006 es330.
Thanks again.

You compare a Benz 3.2 engine to 5 years newer 3.3 engines of Lexus.. Yet Benz trumps all... Are those at Lexus mentally indolent?

Bros, calm down na.
2007 Ml550 has just 2 extra horses over 2007 acura MDX (v6). Even with its v8 engine. Both have practically the same 0-60 times. And the Acura handles way better tongue
Sometimes, manufacturers don't really bother themselves about speed. Lexus es330 isn't a race car. Neither is your E320.
Anyways, don't leave your axle behind while racing an es330. grin
Nigerian potholes do a lot of wonders to cars with rust. Una too hype Benz. They are just another "German" car manufacturer. Nothing else.

Unfortunately.... My E320 is absolutely rust free reason I chose it over the Lexus LS400. Meanwhile I am not interested in 0-60 or whatever permutations... And you are welcome to compare all rodent vehicles you can imagine against the Benz.. The automobile standard.

The McLaren F1’s engine bay is lined with 16g of gold as a great deflector. Gold is the best reflector of heat, and the F1’s engine runs very hot.

The camry and corolla are both very solid vehicles.

Efficiency both will get the job done but the camry has a bigger cabin, more leg room and comfortable sitting also more boot space.

Luxury the camry beats the corolla as the LE and xle come with leather optional sat navigation and JBL premium audio the corolla was never fitted with leather but the 06-07 has an upscale audio system.
The camry also comes with 16inch alloy rim options the corolla is 15 inch steel rim from factory on all models

Economy the corolla has a 1.6 and 1.8L engine while the camry has a 2.5L I4, V6 and hybrid. The camry hybrid comes close to the fuel economy of the corolla but to be on a safer side for 1st timer better to over look the hybrid. The corolla wins in economy but the camry 4 cylinder isn't bad if you want to balance power with economy. As full load the corolla is slow in acceleration.

Maintenance both are OK but camry parts are expensive than corolla. The corolla also has simple engine and parts even the sport version. I have 2 corolla in the family 04 and 07 the 07 has auto lock on moving the gear lever to Dallas, factory installed keyless entry, fog light.

Security both are robber magnet though the 06-07 corolla and most camry come with standard factory alarm systems, they can't be stolen whole when parked on like earlier models, but snatching at gun point has been major user experienced.

Verdict I would push to buy 06-07 corolla staying away from the sport due to bad roads and those with open roof as our weather conditions causes damage to the seals allowing leaks into the cabin.
LOo
If you like the camry, leave the SE and XLE with side skirts cause of our roads, push for a LE with all the bells and whistle (luxury edition with factory leather seats) but note most of the people using camry with non chalant attitude end up changing transmission.

Nice work baba. Kindly do a review for Hyundai Elantra 2010 based on those key points. Thanks.
