Tragedy struck, yesterday, at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, as a final year student drowned while swimming.

Kester Gabriel, a 500 level Material and Metallurgical Engineering student, who returned to school, on Sunday, after his Industrial Training, died inside the Otammiri river in Ihiagwa. His body has since been recovered

Ota Mmadu very bad river, i can remember swimming in the river after playing football those days in school.

Why would anyone in his right senses go to swim in such a river.the name alone is scary.

FUTO students and stubbornness. They all know Otammiri has pythons that drag students to their deaths every year but everybody wan from hard man. I finished from FUTO since 2005 and every year I stayed there Otammiri took a life. We never learn. RIP young warrior.

There's always a curse on every under graduate approaching final year which may lead to death, please be warn and take caution. Avoid party, and some of this social life activities even during your NYSC.

wasted years, school fees, wasted stress with ENG 101 assignment, wasted runs to five hundred capacity hall for lectures, even hall of mercy. wasted in river!

As inviting as the river is sometimes I just can’t swim in them because you really don’t know how deep it really is it’s so sad and I feel for his family
