House, let’s be careful with our applications. Efforts must be made to ensure it tally with IRCC requirements or interpretations if you like.

As for listening, I think whatever challenge u possibly have could be tackled individually. First, have u been listening back for the replays to know this ones u missed and why u missed them? This I believe is the key way to forging ahead. If yes, did u understood & agree with the answers? If u have been able to solve this in first few attempts, then next is to improve ur "concentration level". By this I mean don't try to listen for just the answers but try follow up with the conversations and understand. This might take u several attempts but i assure u stand to gain a lot in terms of confidence. In fact , even when u have missed the answers to some, ur clear understanding of the topic discussed will easily make u spot the answers afterwards. I happened to just listen for answers back then and got stuck at 7/7.5 most times. It took a serious fight btw me & wifey b4 I developed the habit of understanding the discussions of the CD. & I bet u with some more practice I gain huge confidence. Even map and drawings became easy also. So please try doing that and let's see....All d best!
Well noted, kudos boss

TEECANN:
@DBJay,

Pls when you get to VFS tomorrow, kindly come back here to let me know what's the current transmission fee (I got the info that the price has changed and I don't understand the array of price list on their website)

2. Please also find out whether we can exempt Courier fee if we want to come and pick up the passports personally.

3. Lastly, help me ask whether it's compulsory to add a filled "VAC consent form" so as to be able to collect my family's passports back upon return from Accra.

@All

Please if you have the latest info on the above points, kindly help out. My head is so full presently grin

Just to be clear:

I ve prepared the following docs- VFS checklist

1. Printed PPR lettter (1 copy)

2. Original International Passport booklets (all of us)

3. Photocopy of passport biodata page (2 copies per each person)

4. Passport photographs in stated requirements (2 copies per each person)

5. Hand filled Height and Eye colour Chart (1 copy attached to PPR letter)

6. Cover letter stating amongst other things that "family configuration has not changed"

Are we good to go my good people in the know? grin

It will end in praise IJN!

Mr Teecan, please do you or chance have any contact in Ikoyi passport office that can assist with the Passport change of name for my wife. This is needed urgently

Thanks

This guy was just trying to be sharp, sometimes people are the cause of their own troubles.
Unlike in FSW, self employment is not accepted for CEC applicants. It is clearly written on the website. Yet he applied while working as the 'director' in his own coffee shop undecided

Listening tips.

Form the habit of listening attentively.
The 1st Audio is usually easy and the answers are usually straight forward but from the 2nd audio sometimes they might talk about something else before they talk about the real answer so you have to be attentive to ensure you don't miss out on the real answer.

For those answers that usually require option A to F l, instead of looking for the answers while listening just write what they said about it down at that moment. After you are done in the real exam you have 10 minutes to copy down your answers and you can use this to select your answers.

Another tip is to look at the transcripts of the audio file so you can see exactly what parts the answers are from and in subsequent tests improve on it.

You can email me and we can speak on the phone for further help if you need it.

All the best.

I responded to you yesterday with fees and all the details for passport submission @ VFS but was subsequently banned by spambot.

Still beats me how that happened.

Hope you were able to get it sorted.

Thanks Bro.

I'm just coming out of a ban too. I was trying to reply @newmum with the details of the new passport transmission fee as I found it on VFS lagos website...boom, i was banned! Couldn't post or quote nada! This is my first post since yesterday.

NL's spambot should be configured to "respect" long standing members of this forum, ahaa, what insolence? grin I have never been banned on NL ever...in my xx years on NL. grin Cc: @Justwise

I don't know why but I guessed it may have happened because we had amounts in figures in our posts or maybe a system glitch.

Thanks for the effort. You may reach out to me with the info on kayjyde2016 [at]gmail [dot]com

Hello, I get what you mean. I am writing in a few days and it hasn't been funny. I have gotten better anyway.
Tips that helped me were:
1. Concentration
2. Trying not to get lost in thought
3. Remembering that those who have done it don't have two heads
4. Speaking positively about the exam. E.g "I will excel". "I will write this exam once and for all". "I will understand what I hear"
5. RELAX. Try not to be tensed up. This really messes things up.

I hope this helps. All the best in your exams.

LOL that’s not necessarily true but it might be a good thing. London VO is one of the fastest now.

The message/IP1 combo means your file has been sent from CIO to a VO (don’t quote me). I also got it the day my app moved to CPC Ottawa.

Also practice active listening. This is listening to things that you love like American movies and music and then try to pay close attention to how words are pronounced. You can replay a sentence over and over until you get what they are saying and you understand what they mean. Try this with the various accents too. It really helps. Listen actively and not passively.

Hello house. Congratulations to those who got the PPR mail.

A quick question, what was tendered as evidence of your proof of funds? I fix-deposited a certain amount and Access bank is giving me some stuff typed on their letterhead as certificate of deposit. No stamp, no signature whatsoever. When I told the customer care agent that this isn't valid enough, she said that's how they issue it.
Please, who has been through this? Will this be acceptable by immigration or should I go to the bank tomorrow and press for a valid proof of funds?

You really have to learn how to be calm for you to do well in listening. I tend to be a lil bit impatient at times so listening was a drag for me during the practice sessions...i was always missing 5 or more answers because i felt the speakers were wasting my time and i couldn't wait for them to go straight to the point....guess what...just when am lost in these sort of thoughts...voila they have said the answer and i didnt hear jack.

What worked?

I took some days off and watched a couple of movies, documentaries and cnn news, just listening to what was being said.

Then i tried to remind myself to be calm and focus....focus and focus (I kept reminding myself and God that I can't afford to write this exam a second time...so help me God).

I came up with different strategies e.g
If there were two speakers Tom and Jane....i wrote their names down...then in shorthand rewrote the conversation (this way i kept myself busy writing what was being said while listening and so i didnt drift).

For the ones with answers A-F.....i realised you are given few mins before the speaker starts with that section....so i simply lifted the questions and wrote them side by side to the answers while waiting for the speakers to start talking so i can choose the right options (with this method, it was super easy for me to pick the correct answers and i didnt have to move my head up and down searching for the answers.

I also made sure that i was in a very quiet place while practicing and i timed myself. I practiced with academic test questions.

Most importantly, I prayed like there was no tomorrow...I asked for mercy, favour and for me to "see and know" the answers on that day.

Few days to the exam day, i stopped practicing...i needed my brain to relax so i could give my best on exam day....

On exam day, i reminded myself to be calm...made sure my earphones were working and chose the loudest volume, tilted my head to the position i felt i could hear best without vibrations, said a word of prayer and was calm. I came out from the exam hall excitedly telling hubby that I could hear everything.

Lest i forget, ensure you read and stick to the instructions e.g not more than three words, one word, a letter and two words etc.

Look for what makes you restless while listening and create strategies to curb them....be calm....be calm...be calm.

If you are in Lagos, you can come down to the school this Saturday by 8am.
Location is Caleb University, CMD road, Magodo, Lagos.
Note that only these courses are taken in Lagos; Computer Science, Economics, Mass Communication, Finance and Accounting. Others are at their Imota Campus in Ogun State.
Good luck!

Good morning fam,

Please I need advise and clarification from the gurus in the house. I intend to migrate to Canada with my family (wife and my daughter), I am a graduate while my wife had OND and she is into fashion designing. My questions are"

1. Will I have to evaluate my wife's OND? If yes, can she use my reference number or I have to register for her on wes separately?
2. Is it necessary for her to go for IETLS or mine can cover for her?

Thank you.

Pls in addition to your Fixed Deposit certificate, whenever you are ready to submit POF after your ITA. Just ask for a foreign reference letter from Access bank. That will summarize all your investments in your account and it will be signed and stamp by authorised signatories of the bank
