Plz house pardon me if my question doesn't make sense, bcoz this is where it's pressing me!

I have being practicing ielts listening for 2wks, my point hasn't shown progress, menh headache!
1. Should I use online tutors or can I get a good class to attend in PH?
2 would it be better I continue practicing alone without tutor?
Plz any advice, I will welcome, how you did it or possible way out.

You really have to learn how to be calm for you to do well in listening. I tend to be a lil bit impatient at times so listening was a drag for me during the practice sessions...i was always missing 5 or more answers because i felt the speakers were wasting my time and i couldn't wait for them to go straight to the point....guess what...just when am lost in these sort of thoughts...voila they have said the answer and i didnt hear jack.

What worked?

I took some days off and watched a couple of movies, documentaries and cnn news, just listening to what was being said.

Then i tried to remind myself to be calm and focus....focus and focus (I kept reminding myself and God that I can't afford to write this exam a second time...so help me God).

I came up with different strategies e.g
If there were two speakers Tom and Jane....i wrote their names down...then in shorthand rewrote the conversation (this way i kept myself busy writing what was being said while listening and so i didnt drift).

For the ones with answers A-F.....i realised you are given few mins before the speaker starts with that section....so i simply lifted the questions and wrote them side by side to the answers while waiting for the speakers to start talking so i can choose the right options (with this method, it was super easy for me to pick the correct answers and i didnt have to move my head up and down searching for the answers.

I also made sure that i was in a very quiet place while practicing and i timed myself. I practiced with academic test questions.

Most importantly, I prayed like there was no tomorrow...I asked for mercy, favour and for me to "see and know" the answers on that day.

Few days to the exam day, i stopped practicing...i needed my brain to relax so i could give my best on exam day....

On exam day, i reminded myself to be calm...made sure my earphones were working and chose the loudest volume, tilted my head to the position i felt i could hear best without vibrations, said a word of prayer and was calm. I came out from the exam hall excitedly telling hubby that I could hear everything.

Lest i forget, ensure you read and stick to the instructions e.g not more than three words, one word, a letter and two words etc.

Look for what makes you restless while listening and create strategies to curb them....be calm....be calm...be calm.

Pls what sites do you recommend for authentic practice tests? I've found that most practice tests I've been doing are not really close to the real thing. I've been doing the tests on ieltsonline and their listening tests are way too fast.

You can download complete ielts band 7.5, Ielts prep, Ielts Preparation-IL Free from google playstore. (A lot of practice questions here).

I used ieltsfever.com to practice maps and these two beautiful sites Ielts-mentor.com and ieltsadvantage.com. When my scores improved, i moved to ieltsonline.com to work on my speed.

God's grace.

Good morning the gurus in the house. Please I want you to help me do justice to the questions so I can be cleared of my worries.

1. Can I include my younger ones in my FSW application, like my younger brother and sister ? I never marry my fiance, so I'm thinking I will add her after AOR or what do you feel?
2. Can they also sit for IELTS to increase our points?
3. Can I ask my university to give me my official transcript because I also want to include my neco transcript too? This is to cut down the cost of sending them separately ?
4. Must we leave immediately after getting passport request or we can wait for some months to raise the flight ticket for all of us?
5. Can I use uncle or aunt as sponsor because I don't know where I will get proof of fund to be candid?
6. How much am I likely to spend from A-Z and the interval between each payment ?Just an average estimation so I can be sure of the financial implication.

Thanks all

Not really. I have used that website (ieltsonline) and their listening tests are way faster than the real tests. It’s good for practice though.

Most of your questions have been answered on page 1, but I’m in a good mood today:
1) you can’t include them as your dependents (except if they’re underage and you’ll have to adopt them formally or something, not sure) You’ll only fill their details under family history. You can add your fiancée after AOR
2) if you mean your siblings then no!
3) transcript has to be sent from the school in sealed envelope with the university’s stamp on seal across the flap
4) you have up till your medical expires or your passport expires whichever comes first
5) you have to sponsor yourself, you can ask them to gift you the money
6) check page 1

Good morning the gurus in the house. Please I want you to help me do justice to the questions so I can be cleared of my worries.

1. Can I include my younger ones in my FSW application, like my younger brother and sister ? I never marry my fiance, so I'm thinking I will add her after AOR or what do you feel? FSW is usually for man, spouse and kidss. However, you can include them by adopting them legally as dependants especially if they are below 18. If your parents are not in the picture, it will be easier.
2. Can they also sit for IELTS to increase our points?
Spouse only
3. Can I ask my university to give me my official transcript because I also want to include my neco transcript too? This is to cut down the cost of sending them separately ? Yes but please make sure it falls within the specification as regards stamp and sealed envelopes, etc
4. Must we leave immediately after getting passport request or we can wait for some months to raise the flight ticket for all of us?
This depends on the date you carry out your medical exam. You should land Canada by the expiry date of the medicals
5. Can I use uncle or aunt as sponsor because I don't know where I will get proof of fund to be candid? So you no get fund na im you wan pack your brother and sister go person country. Just kidding grin grin There is no way around proof of funds. Ask your dad if you can sell you guys land and houses, take the money to Canada with you
6. How much am I likely to spend from A-Z and the interval between each payment ?Just an average estimation so I can be sure of the financial implication.

check page 1. Read and digest the whole page as well. See eh, my guy, abroad na all man for im sef kind of place. If we help you today, who go help you for abroad? Who go check train time for you? Who go tell you the time wey dem wan do sales for shop? Who go tell you the time wey job opening dey? Who go tell you say jaywalking na crime? Abeg, try dey research. I no say our lecturers no too try for us, but make we sef dey try. One love.
