Imagine. My late father told me, years after I had left home, that he saw everything my stepmother did to me. I told him it was a stale matter that should be allowed to die. It was the grace of God that enabled me to go through everything and come out strong.

If a woman can't accept a man's child as hers, she has no business marrying him!

Most parents in the process of reprimanding or correcting a child go slightly overboard. It's quite different from deliberate act of wickedness such as starvation, neglect, inflicting grievous bodily harm with dangerous objects e.t.c.

At best she should have been cautioned and made to sign undertaking at the police station to desist from such.

My opinion though!

Undertaking for maltreating a child? seriously!! The teach said the little girl was always crying when its time to go home, meaning the step mom is always inflicting grievous harm to the little girl(your word). Only god know what the girl has been going through in her hands, for her to be so scared to go home after school.

I want to try as much as possible not to be sentimental about the issue. My heart goes out to the little girl especially considering the circumstance of her birth.

My argument is that criminal justice system should be tailored at administering the appropriate level of purnishment for various degree of offence. And where warning is appropriate, it should apply! Not every matter should go to court or be broadcasted! Prisons are congested, reputations are at stake! Thank you!
