My dear, I was with my boss too over the wkend trying to figure out if he has any chances. He's in his early 40's with 20yrs+ experience, and his wifey late 30's, they both had masters degree and unfortunately, there CRS nvr got beyond 401 or there about even with a an assumed high score in ielts. Except they take the PNP route, the chances are so slim for this age category.

I have a question. Any hope for someone in his forties to reloMOVE to Canada? The person has a master and has learnt a skill in software engineering.... Any way to relocate with the family. He has good knowledge of French language...

Use it for ECA or for employment?

For employment, I don't think it is relevant as long as you can provide proof of employment.
ok thanks

Not near at all & considering that Lagos traffic, it could be very very stressful. I think u should leave early enough, say 5:30am and go to Alagbon first for PCC, it shld take u less an hour and come back to IOM for medicals. Considering many have reported here that there isn't much people at IOM, that way you shld be able to finish both by 2pm hopefully.
ontarioissauga:
Alagbon and Ikeja no near oh.
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by joo2018: 4:33pm On Nov 26, 2018
1. There are some reasonable hotels in Ikeja. Use this to narrow down: here.
Alternatively you can book a hotel in Ogba which is still reasonably close by. check here.

2. It is some distance away, but you can still make it after your medicals in the morning. You should be able to get a cab from Ikeja to Island.

Nigerian PCC is valid for 3 months.

Read this:
"Date the certificate was issued
For the country where you currently live
The police certificate for the country where you currently live:
must be issued no more than 6 months before the date you submit your application
must not be expired

For any other country
For any other country, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row.
Some countries put expiry dates on their police certificates. If you have a police certificate that expired, include it. We’ll accept it if:
it was issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row
it is not for the country where you currently live
An officer may ask for a new one later on."

With his knowledge of French he can write the TEF exams along with IELTS to get high scores. Also, software engineers falls within the occupations in demand for Saskatchewan and some other provinces but does he have the relevant work experience.

Best option is to check out all the provinces.

If you stay in Ikeja, then show up early for medicals, you can confirm what time they start attending to people and ensure you are the first or second person to be attended to. From there proceed to Alagbon, by then traffic inwards Island would have eased. You can do both same day just set out early. I think Country Guest House Ikeja GRA might be pocket friendly though old and i am not quite sure of the distance to IOM but that shouldnt pose a problem since they are both in Ikeja.

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by wasseynewest: 4:47pm On Nov 26, 2018
That's very correct. Let me add that it is a 2 way thing.
It's either u get to Ikeja for medicals first(8am) in d morning and target to finish by 10am. That way u'll be facing the Island at the off traffic period but u can't be sure of the traffic on the mainland while enroute to the Island. Better still, head for the Island like I earlier advised by 5:30am or 6am, you should be there by 8am while Alagbon would have opened at the time. U are sure to finish b4 10am and ur fro back to the Mainland will surely be off traffic at this time. Do've a safe trip either ways.

You can if you meet the CRS score cut-off. Use this link to simulate your points: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

If you don't meet the cut-off, with your knowledge of French, you may also qualify for the PNPs of Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick.

Read through page 1 of the thread for more.
How true is it that once you are proficient in a high in demand skill, you would be allotted 600points?
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by joo2018: 5:28pm On Nov 26, 2018
That's a general statement.

You need to look at the provinces individually and check if you meet their criteria. Check this thread for more: https://www.nairaland.com/4180147/all-canadian-provincial-nominee-programs

A minimum of one year is required. You need to be able to provide work reference for the occupation that you are claiming experience for. Check here for the requirements for Saskatchewan https://www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/moving-to-saskatchewan/immigrating-to-saskatchewan/saskatchewan-immigrant-nominee-program/applicants-international-skilled-workers/sinp-in-demand-occupation-list

Please take time to check out the various provinces for what works best for you.

I don't know if I'm being unreasonable here but it's getting rather difficult following this thread again.
Just half a day, boom 10-12 pages! Quoting long reply without editing. Liz Vs Jay SmackDown Live. Zero PPR announcement and experience.

Please don't get me wrong, I meant not harm but rather wish for the thread to remain a worthy source of genuine information and library for Express Entry.

Long live the thread!

On this IELTS issue...my two cents.

1. Stick to a FEW practice materials! The number of materials for IELTS that we see on a daily on this thread can be overwhelming. Try out only a few and stick to the one that resonates with you. Don't use ieltsliz, Jay, Cambridge, ieltsadvantage, road2ielts etc at the same time (some of these peope don't agree on the same approach and reading all can get really confusing). If you try one and it sits well with you, ditch others. Focus on that one and be a master of it. I almost got overwhelmed at some point, because l wanted to open every link or try every material l saw here. But l had to give myself brain oh.

2. Practise everyday. No excuses. Create the time. Even at work, you can use your lunch break to practise. Instead of listening to music or radio on your way to work, listen to your downloaded tips on writing, speaking, reading, listening. When walking down the streets, have an earpiece on (l hate this, but we can make sacrifices for one month abi?) and keep LISTENING. At weekends, practice speaking with your wife/husband, friend, son/daughter etc. Write out questions and tell them to ask you (under exam conditions). I finished a WHOLE 30 leaves notebook for listening practice (yeah l work an 8 to 5 and live on the mainland with my office on the island -remember, no excuses!). Always check your wrong answers and replay those portions and find out what you didn't hear properly. I used youtube for listening/speaking/reading.

3. There's this ielts expert too, one Ryan (cannot remember his surname) that l think is underrated. I used his tips for writing. He talks about 15 sentences max for writing. 3 paragraphs with 4 sentences and the closing paragraph should have 3 sentences. This keeps you in check and you already know what to write before the exam, all you will be waiting for on the ielts day is the topic given! I can share his materials if you drop your email address.
For writing, write letter and essays! Don't read what someone else wrote. Write yours too. Some people practise writing by reading another's work -WRONG! write yours too and compare. Minimum letters to write on different topics - 10. Minimum essays - 20. Revise your work and look for better ways to reconstruct your sentences. I suggest you write with pencil on your exam day so you can erase if need be.

4. For reading - use youtube. It also has a timer, so practice using the time and don't stop the timer or pause the video. The easiest comprehension in reading are the first two. Spend less time there. Say 5 mins tops for each. You do not need to UNDERSTAND nada. Just look at the instructions (very important), then the questions, then scroll through the passages for the answers. You need all your time for the last two passages. They are more technical.

5. For speaking - Be confident, relaxed and know your basic english and introduction (see ieltsliz). See this as an interview. We all attend interviews don't we? I got a list of 42 likely cue cards from ieltsliz blog (l think she said they change it every 3 months but she always update the cue card questions) and l practiced the 42 different topics and l always set my two minutes timer with my phone. You can be in the BRT or your car and practice this one, or when walking down the street or whilst doing chores at home, or lying down in your bed doing nothing (l did this. Some days, people will think you are going crazy because you are talking to yourself, but...who no go no know). One of the 42 questions l practiced was my cue card during my speaking test -something on my pet animal (l was wondering "madam why me? Animal kwa?" but because l had practised earlier, the examiner had to cut me off when it was two minutes. I just went on and on.

4. Lastly and certainly not the least...the place of PRAYER. I'm catholic, so when l saw the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino here, l made a mental note to say it. I started saying it every day from September till i wrote my exam on the 1st of November. I even added a 9 days St. Joseph of Cupertino novena with prayer and fasting which ended on the 31st of October (l'm that extra oh. I left no chances). I asked my family to add me in their prayers too. So, pray, pray and pray. Whatever works for you. Someone dropped one St. prayer here on financial assistance for POF, best believe l'll look for that prayer and do it too!

5. People have done it, you too can. Don't be discouraged if you have tried more than once. We don't give up on this thread oh. Being here has taught me a different level of selflessness and never say never spirit. People you don't even know are quick to help and empathise and l am still in awe of you guys.

6. Please drop your email address so l can send the Ryan materials to you.

This too shall pass!

All the best everyone and my apologies for the long post.

First time here and I have tried to read all the way from 2013 threads, it is really interesting.

The core question I am having is that how much in naira must one have to process all stages and land in Canada. All the way from international passport to the destination in Canada, how much in total as at 2018

One have to know the financial aspects then compare it to his financial status.

I sent you a PM.
This is my first time considering traveling out of the country after Bsc. In economics, NYSC and all the ordeals I have experienced searching for jobs and attending several interviews but only not to be offered based on who referred you here.

And to make thing worst, I was offered 15k salary + 800 daily for transport as a Revenue collector that majorly involved going from local govt to another to collect due and levy. It doesn't worth it.

I know nethier me nor my family is capable to sponsor this dream. I just want to know beforehand, who knows, a messiah may come my way that will sponsor or borrow me and I pay later.

As I am still hunting for the job, please consider me whenever anyone here is referring a potential employee to a prospective employee.

Thanks.
