This man just found out that his wife of 16 years is 5 years older than he is. The marriage is about to sctter but is this enough reason to end the marriage?

It is IMPOSSIBLE to be in a marriage for 16 years without knowing the real age of your partner.

Maybe he capitalised on that just to have his way divorcing her. Age can never be his major reason for divorcing her.

A very valid reason for divorce personally I broke a relationship because of same lies.i detest lies

I get the fact that a relationship shouldn't be built on lies and he has a right to be upset...but come on. A divorce? Cos she lied about her age?. She was probably feeling insecure and didnt wanna lose him at the beginning.... they ought to work out their differences not get separated after being together for so long.

The issue isn't the age difference but her deceit. If she lie about her age do you know what other things she is telling lies about?

Yes it is enough reason to end a marriage. He probably wouldn't have married her had he known her real age. Just like finding out that your partner has been hiding a child from you prior to getting married. That kind of deception should be a ground for divorce

Obtaining by trick (OBT) and a complete scam. Definitely a legitimate ground to end a marriage because it was contracted upon deception and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

The lie is what ended it not the age. Don't lie to your prospective partners about serious or even minor things he/she takes seriously. Age, Genotype, Spirituality, secret child etc. Unless you can somehow keep it a secret forever(Which you can't). Heck! A century year old man divorced his 90 year old wife after discovering she cheated on him forty years ago. I will do same. Because i don't lie, so lying to me is simply playing on my intelligence which i hate very much.
