My former church member left Nigeria for Italy 2yrs ago. From Italy he went to Germany. Due to the strict immigration laws in Germany, he boarded a train and migrated to Netherland. Initially, the Netherland authorities wanted to send him back but he pleaded he is lost and he needs help and told the authorities he love Netherland and would love to live there.

The Netherland Government gave him an apartment and he was placed on welfare. He decided not to work because benefits from welfare are greater than benefits from unskilled labour jobs. Two yrs later, he is currently living alone in a two bathroom apartment and placed on monthly income. All these given to him for free by the dutch government because he told them he is a migrant who needs help.

He is currently building two houses simultaneously in his home town in Nigeria. He is jobless in another man's land, yet he is richer than most Nigerian professors.

We are really suffering in Nigeria. A nairalander once said that 'Nigerians don't know how much they are suffering until they live the country.' I have promised my self that i will not raise up my family in this country.

And this cock-and-bull story was given 30 likes just like that?

My brother, this story is full of fallacies, firstly, your friend can't get any asylum status in Holland since it was Italy that gave him the Visa, the Holland Immigration will asked immediately send him back to Italy where he can seek for asylum. Secondly money from social welfare won't be able to start building two houses like you claim, remember they have to minus his rent as well

Correct, the story not adding up. Starting from the point where he said that his friend was about to be deported but he told the Dutch authorities that he loved the Netherlands and they let him stay.

Your church member never told you the whole truth. It either he sought asylum there or he is married or in cohabitation with a Dutch citizen plus doing black job, drug and Sex traffickking, or yahoo as well.
European countries will never give you residence to stay in their country because you claim you are lost and love their country.

I live in the Netherlands and can tell you that this is a lie, a huge one.

I know illegals who have been living here for 25 years, no papers. You can't just come to the Netherlands and expect freebies because you are a ''migrant''. Dutch immigration is one of the tightest in the world, and even those with legal residency are even losing it. If not for the EU immigration policy towards refugees and family, I can assure you the Netherlands will be as strict as Swiss and Australia.

When I first got my residence permit, there is a warning at the back that the mere requesting for social assistance can lead to the revocation of my residency right, and I know Europeans (Bulgarians, Polish) who have their right of residence revoked because they collected social benefit. Western countries did not get to this level of development by being generous, it is quite the opposite.

don't be deceived, it is a lie. A huge one.

This story is not "complete" ...
It doesn't add up on various levels.
In fact, I can confidently support the argument, that this is a big lie- in the absence of certain elements...

First of all Germany is more lenient to immigrants than the Netherlands... so running from Germany to the Netherlands as an illegal immigrant, is like the maxim; from frying pan to fire.
I live in the Netherlands currently, so I know what I am talking about.

Netherlands govt gave him an apartment and allowance... grin

What do you guys think building of house is sef? Is it rocket science? Anybody in Nigeria earning even 70k a month (as a single though) can comfortably build a two bedroom flat in two years. Yes! I used to think building of house is very expensive until I started building one with a meager salary. My aunty built a bedroom flat in Abuja 2016 (mararaba area )with 727,500 Naira. No jokes. Na me do the auditing myself. Though we were two of us that supervised the building. So what you don’t know you don’t know. Building materials have grades according to your taste. You must not hammer before building one. So if Netherland gives him such money then why is it not achievable? Somebody has not even entered plane or even visited seme border and you’re already judging the Op. if you don’t want to believe it then that’s ok. But as for the building of his two houses, you can’t conclude because you don’t know what he’s building. It could be a studio apartment or a flat. So don’t just think he’s totally wrong. Not everything people say here about hopes abroad is totally wrong. Do your research about building a house and you’d be so glad you did.

Oga. Let me tell you something. Roofs differs. That’s why I said earlier that it all depends on individual taste. Since the house was originally intended for tenants and she had less than a million Naira. We still decided to give it a shot. And we achieved it. The roof we used is not the latest though. But that’s what she can afford. We moulded the blocks in the compound. And we didn’t pay the laborers per day. We paid per block laying and that was way cheaper. In 7 working days( within 3 weeks ) the house was set. I’m not here to advertise myself. Just trying to prove a point. Building a house is not difficult bro. So make una shine una eyes.
