They want to crumble the already collapsed economy for the second term.

This man doesn't understand economics, once he panics the economy, inflation will jump in. Why not learn from America, they lend money to GMC, during global recession, being the highest car production firm in America, and had shares till GMC was able to pay in full years later.

Are you serious about this?
Is your farm poultry or fishery?
Will you pay back with interest?

If you're looking for means to invest your money, simply own, a small Cucumber farm, with less than 200k, you stand to make over 30-40k every four days.

I didn't ask you to borrow me. Make independent inquiry online, before reaching out to me.

I have over 10 acres of Cassava. But I'm starting Cucumber January.

You are right. They have an obligation to return the funds but not the way this government recovery will go about it. First of all to make this news public without quietly informing this banks to get prepared can trigger panic and large withdrawals from depositors stressing the already stressed and tense banking sector.

Our banks are still yet to recover from government agencies that left them to set up the single treasury account. To call or demand for $7bn in one fell swoop without a spread out strategy in place will bury some banks that right now are already on life support. As from the moment some hear this news, it is an immediate stimulant to start sacking workers and causing chaos to lessen their exposure.

I am truly sorry for the policy makers in this country. They have done more harm than good. If this is what this government has to offer in 2019, then I suggest Nigerians begin to seek green pasture in other countries. This economy will collapse.

You know your economics.

The Presidency on Wednesday vowed to take all necessary measures to recover the $7 billion which the Central Bank of dashed commercial banks in 2006 as bailout cash. Buhari and Emefiele The chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Recovery of Public Property, Mr. Okoi Obla-Obono, made the resolve of the government public at a public event organized by some civil society groups on the controversial Oil Prospecting Lease 245 in Abuja. Obla-Obono also said the federal government was also investigating an unnamed top politician for running 20 companies in a European tax haven so as to evade tax payment to Nigeria. 2019: Donald Duke promises free tuition at all levels of education if elected president The presidential aide also disclosed that a leading oil firm that has withheld $1.9 billion oil revenue payment to Nigeria was being investigated and would be sanctioned for economic sabotage. Dashed? like the bail out was given to make up for bank bad and wasteful decisions at taxpayers expense. Government should have had a form of equity in the banks that took bail outs and by the way, what is AMCON also for?

When we say Buhari is an unrepentant stark idiot we know what we are saying , that man has no business being near leadership because he lacks the short term and long term thought processes requisite to drive visionary leadership , after his poor implementation of TSA failed to sink our banks after destabilizing them this wicked Dullard is once again engaging in satanic speculation capable of sinking our banks again...God punish anybody planning to vote this man even as a joke ...

Leave God out of it and state your opinion like a civilised individual. Are you the one to decide who God should punish? Who are those being punished in Nigeria today?

I'm already a farmer with 10 acres and industrial Garri processing mill. I recently met some farmers who're into it, I was truly over helmed. The harvest is every 4 days you can add pepper alongside.
I'm not asking anybody to drop cash with me, no!.

And is there panic now. Are people rushing to the banks to withdraw their funds

We are talking of money the banks were given in 2005 or thereabouts- we know for a fact that the money did not translate to cheaper loans for the people - even if the money they got belongs to us

The point is that we should not be funding the extravagant lifestyle of bankers.

Most of us would rather not go near a bank in the country because it is a known fact that they are the main bastions of corruption. The keepers of illegal funds

I am not accusing you of trying to defraud anyone. I am just saying you can't really KNOW until you've done it. I am happy to take pointers.

Thank you! You just gave an exact reply I wanted to give him our misguided knowledgeable friend here and the other block head- FarA(something ).
In inclusion to the extravagant lifestyle of bankers who would rather sack their workers than cut down on their outrageous trifling, theres's also the issue of these banks within those years of 2006-15 loaning this money to the Nigerian government and stste governments even at excessive interest rates. Banks were really milking the nation but instead of employing more people, investing in critical SME areas or embarking on a technological turn around, they (I.e. the bank executives) chose to frolick and get themselves invited to every private jet birthday party, boat cruises and other lewd excesses.
You can't even defend these banks even if you want to using the American instance of bailouts. American banks prominently have a strong history of helping to grow the economy in no small measure. They gave out loans! The stimulated the economy to great booms by giving to small businesses. They gave loans for housing, education, anything. Let us even be reminded that the reason why they needed the bailout was because of the bubble the housing loans created. But in Nigeria, pfffttt... Banks give loans only to politicians, oil magnates with a miserly less than 5 per cent contribution to our GDP, while ignoring the real growers of our economy. In Nigeria pre 2015, the only people that benefited from the mindless fraud of milking this nation were either politicians and their people and the bankers who kept these looted funds for them only to lend them back at outrageous rates. Really, it was the biggest scam.

So states in the future will have to refund the bailout funds the current federal government gave them to pay salaries. What was the agreement signed before this bailout funds was given to the banks? This fund was given to mitigate the collapse of the economy and avoid a recession, It's not as if the banks stole the money. There's a whole lot of policies of this administration with tune of anger and vengeance. Even in developed countries such decisions are taken subtly with the effect on the populace in mind. I'm not against the implementation but wisdom is needed.
