It is fine as justice seems to have been served. The way these public servants abuse trust is alarming. You will see them so rich you would wonder why they aren't on Forbes list of billionaires and what exactly they do apart from their seemingly ill-paying job. We do not only recommend jail but also total recovery of loot and profits cum interests therefrom.
Thanks, good comments.

Will he have his limb amputated like they did to Jangabe the other day? If they apply that Law to our politicians we should see corruption drastically reduced! Imagine Atiku, GEJ, OBJ, Saraki, Patience Jonathan et al limbless! cool

For Nigeria to overcome this problem of corruption, I think we should begin to look at China anticorruption judgement. Death sentence would be the way out. After recovery of looted funds, then they should be hanged

Appeal court jails UBEC chairman 41 years

A five-man panel of the Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto and presided over by Justice Hannatu Sankey has sentenced the Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Murtala Adamu Jengebe to a cumulative jail term of 41 years.

Mr Jengebe was convicted by the court after the appellate court found him guilty on the seven out of the 10 counts for which he was earlier acquitted at the Federal High Court, Gusau, Zamfara State.

In the lead judgment of the court read by Justice Habeeb Abiru, the earlier acquittal of the embattled chairman by a Federal High Court in Gusau was set aside.

The appellate court held that the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt seven out of the ten counts of the money laundering charge brought against him by the EFCC. He was consequently sentenced to five years imprisonment on each of four of the counts and seven years each on three other counts respectively.

However, the court ordered that the sentences shall run concurrently.

It would be recalled that on May 12, the Federal High Court sitting in Gusau presided over by Justice Z.B Abubakar discharged and acquitted the convict on the 10 counts charge of Money Laundering but convicted him for engaging in private business while he was still in public service. An offence he was never charged for by the commission.

Dissatisfied with the judgement of the lower court, the prosecution approached the Court of Appeal seeking it to set aside the judgement of the lower court.

Rubbish journalism. Court of appeal does not jail. Its not a trial court. It only allows or dismisses an appeal challenging the judgment of the trial court.
In this case, the appeal was dismissed while the judgment of the learned trial judge was affirmed.

Learn to use proper legalise @OP.

Thanks

Rubbish judgment. Why should the sentence run concurrently? This means he'll be paroled in 5 or 6 years time. Nonsense judgment
Too much American movies or you are just kidding yourself? What is parole in Nigeria?

The enemies of the country said the anti corruption is not working. Meanwhile, under their PDP watch, this matter that sent this man to jail would not have been a news. Thank God for buhari.

On point. I have pointed this out on Facebook but people were shouting against it. China behead their corrupt leaders. That is the best way to go for Nigeria. Without a stiff deterrent, there is no hope for development. Even fund meant for IDPs are looted, haba!

I wound how much have changed hands
The sign is there. PMB would have substantial vote in South east unlike 2015 election. South west is no go area, pdp is dead in North west and norther east. North Central would be share between the two major party. PMB till 2023

Your permutation is very correct...even Peter Obi doesn't have the general good will of the south east...he has a lot of enemies there when he was in government and also as a business man....the north is a no go area for him....his deportation exercise is still very fresh in the northerners memory

I wonder if this is what Nigerian youths are known for or its just ti get unnecessary attention and likes on Nairaland cos the way most people reason on this forum is too shallow, everytime critics no judgment, its one side, witch Hunting,is targeted to opposition...etc now a judgement was pronounced yet they still critize its too small 7 years for each alleged offence,if not concurrent? What exactly is the problem? I think now is the time we need to think, comment or talk to promote the unity of this nation rather than unnecessary wailing...which am still finding very difficult to believe that's the best result your brains can give after racking it so rigorously, we really need to change our behavior all as Nigerians

The Nigerian judicial system is so bleeped up with their concurrent nonsense

Someone steals billions of naira and you jail him for about 7 years because of concurrent law.

I would gladly go to jail for 7 years knowing I have billions in my account
Remember that he has become ex convict.

How? Bode George, Tafa Balogun were rich people?
Or are you talking about some over the counter illegal arrangements and not the usual parole that involves a parole officer and a confinement to a specific location?

I think he'll spend a maximum of 7 years in the gulags going by the pronouncements of the judge.
