There are always two sides to a story. I do not like the idea of posthumous bride price by the said Chief Ereyitomi. He ought to have done so while she was alive. I do not know his reasons, however. But I take exception to the narrator. Calling on a man's children to deal with their father over their mum seems an invitation to chaos. The language should be more re-conciliatory.

The point the poster is making is that it is not in the tradition of the Itsekiri race to wait for the death of your wife before paying the bride price, and if that happens then it is a disgrace to the man and he his alienated from the woman's family, but in this case it is been done by a highly placed chief in the warri(iwerre) kingdom... Which is not a custom, also given the fact that the late woman was his backbone when he was poor, and he forgot about her, neglected her now that he is a multi-billionaire, as a result of looting developmental funds and contracts from multinational oil corporations operating in the oil rich Warri kingdom.
He his also the PDP flag bearer for the warri federal house of representative position...... A very wicked man with loyal thugs.

Receiving bride price on a death lady reveals the level of uncivility of that family. It's not compulsory that a man must marry a lady before they can stay together. They can operate as in-live lovers.
I respect the man for opting to bury the deceased because of his children. This will relieve her family of a lot of expenses. They should be grateful for that. Requesting for a bride price reveals the greed associated with our culture.
