This is EXACTLY correct. Bravo to you Sir/Maam, you seem to understand what the VO's are pretending not to understand.

I like the way you put it. The VO’s are all simply pretending not to understand and using it as an excuse to deny people visas.
If the discounts are truly an issue and they really don’t understand it, it shouldnt take them an hour of research or phone calls to get the true picture of things but they have deliberately decided to feign ignorance about the whole thing....

My dear it depends on who picked your calls because my letter doesn't have the discount fee.

lynniebabes:
@yettyolaseni I wish west hospital medical center can give me a letter like this too. I called so many times they seem so adamant and insisting to include the discount fee. I regret using them

Earliest a day before traveling
mldtemi:
Hi Mamas,

When is the best time to get a doctor’s fit to fly letter. A week or 2 weeks before you travel? Or a month?

Thank you

On this discount ish, most of these VO's don't seem to understand how these things works.First off, those of them saying they paid 30k or thereabouts failed to mention that their insurance companies took care of that and most times, these insurance companies negotiate these fees to the barest minimum and most times times,it takes time for them to pay.Its common sense that these hospitals would prefer self pay patients as they get their money immediately. These same discounts they give to self pay patient is what insurance companies end up paying after quoting outrageous bills.

My advice will be when requesting cost of delivery from hospital, insist that it should be included that whatever fee they are charging is for self pay and that you reject any form of medical assistance. Also make sure you sign it,with that your argument when going for visa renewal will hold water.

There is also the time-value of money.... I don’t think those insurance companies pay the hospitals immediately so I am sure the hospitals would add inflation costs (interest) to their billing. It simple..

Correct. So the best option is to have a letter from the doctor stating the circumstances regarding the flat rates, not only him/her accepting you as a patient.

Yeah, that's a good idea. That way, there would be less questions to ask. At least it will serve as a proof...

First and foremost, have you made research on the hospital you want to use?
For more info, I'll suggest you type whatever thing you want to know about as regards birthing using keywords to bring out options on what you want; under travels.
We also have experienced mothers in the house if you need more info afterwards....
You're welcome.

I work for an health insurance company (although not in the claims department) but how fast they pay providers depends on different criterias like how the claim got submitted, what kind of service was rendered, the facility the service was rendered at, how the claim was submitted (paper or electronically) and how fast the providers submit the claims

Oftentimes the payments are within a day or two and most times the delays in payment are because the providers didn’t submit the payment until after a week or two or even a month after the service has been rendered. We can’t pay for a service we never got a claim for neither can we pay until we get the claim from the provider.

Hello, I think most airlines do not want it to exceed 7 days before you travel. So I think its best to have one dated within 7 days.

Hello Sis,

I suggest you start by deciding which location (state) you wish to go, then Google and search for doctors, contact them to get price details and other info you may need for your visa application. Also as you mentioned you have no idea how it works, the doctors usually have specific hospitals that they use, so they will let you know as well. If you get things started people will be able to assist you if you get stuck.
Good luck!

I applied for Dropbox for my son. And he was invited for interview today. The VO drilled down on my payments and receipt. She explained that for every receipt there should be an itemized bill because if you show a receipt payment for say $100, how would they know your bill was not $150 and you only paid $100 and received a receipt for just that amount you paid.

I used HNWMC for my last childbirth trip and I explained that I signed an agreement with the hospital stating that I would not be issued an itemized bill. She took it and made a copy.

She looked through all my receipts for my two birthing trips and kept typing and updating, she asked for clarifications in between.

She then asked to see my bank statement, which I gave her but refused to see my T-bills investment letter which had the bulk of all my savings.

She then said to me that I should always ask for a bill and THEN receipt for every medical treatment recieved - Dr, Hosp, per, lab etc. she stated that doesn’t have a problem with me having my births abroad but that I don’t have enough ties which is why she is refusing my son’s visa. That he rides on me to be eligible and I am not eligible (irony of life, considering I still have a valid visa). In all fairness, she looked sympathetic and took her time to update all my payment records on the system, Which she told me she had done.

She said that I can always reapply for my son but to wait for 6months and that was that.

Truth is that I kept an open mind about the interview. I think the VOs have a mandate to deny as many visas as possible. So many people I met had the same outcome and even people that have gone for interviews in recent time.

Hello everyone,
For those that are still in the US with their newborn LO. Congratulations. This information is for you.
After you apply for visa on arrival for your child, you have to go to Nigeria immigration service portal and pay online for the VOA.Cash payment is no longer accepted. You have to generate an application ID and a reference number which you can then use for online payment and then print your receipt. You pay with a US bank card.
When you get to Nigeria, you will have to present your VOA approval letter, evidence of payment and LO passport.
If you don't pay online before u get to the airport in Nigeria, then you have to go to a cyber cafe in the airport and generate the reference no for 5k or use your phone if u have data. Then pray that your card payments should not be declined, else they will hold your LO passport and u have to go back to the airport another day to make payment and collect the passport.
The portal is portal.immigration.gov.ng
Then go to visa on arrival and fill your LO name as applicant.
Please kindly ask your questions on the forum if you have any. Thanks

The truth is they are not giving visas for now
I don’t care what anyone says
The bills, discount issue is just one of the many ways they wanna deny people visas
Majority that I have met recently have been denied, they don’t even know about nairaland..I direct them to nairaland for more info
If only my people would understand that this USA is not a do or die
Stop giving them your money
Some people apply back to back

I don't know if someone in Nigeria can pay for u. I only know someone in Nigeria can apply for the VoA approval for someone in the USA with the supporting documents.
I guess it is because they assume you are paying from there .

Good day all. Please I am having a bit of a challenge with the Visa on Arrival letter.

1. Should I fill the letter, scan and upload it to my email?
2. Is it necessary to include hubby's international passport biodata page as well as mine?

Thanks a lot for all your help.
