But there will come a day both of you will decide to just pick an item together in a supermarket or any market for that matter and 15 minutes will turn to 3 hours. Expect that day and endure it. It's part of marriage and that's what the post is talking about.

But now you are married with kids, she is relegated to the backseat. One thing I know about men who run their homes like cantoments, they are always alone. After the kids grow up and leave, you will discover that you have no one by your side not even your wife because you have severed the chord of partnership and friendship. The worst part is you will be too ashamed to admit it. its like you have successfully entombed yourself in your bid to be the hard, unshakeable man of the house. A man should be friends with his wife and kids not because they need it, But it makes the home much fun and comfortable for everyone.

Wisdom stops them. The more you follow a woman around a shopping mall, the more your bill increases. It is better to ask for her budget and give what you can afford - and stay away from the actual shopping process

We are all gonna pass on one day, the money will not go anywhere with us. let's learn to spend time with our spouses outside the bedroom. I see a lot of old men who re sad and alone because the children grown and traveled out, the wife has gone to visit one of the kids families and spends months there leaving the man alone at home with a house boy. But when you look at how he ran the home when he was younger you will understand why everyone is running away from him. you will see them buying clothes and cars for him, renovating the house and all, but nobody wants to stay with him, which is what he needs most at that time. but u know sometimes when she notices you ain't around watching her ,she might not feel that protection stuff (dunno the word to use,kinda like an aura of being safe and all) it ain't easy but seeing her smile while haggling for the best prices and getting that item is fulfilling.

If your understanding of living a fulfilled life is partying,watching dstv, playing cards with kit and kin then i really don't know how else to explain it to you. But walk into the dying bed of any man and ask him what he regrets the most...its always not spending enough time with family. A lot of us take things for granted. You mentioned men that their wives are late...go and tell them that will have their wives back if they are willing to wait for 10 hours everyday while she does shopping and see how many of them will jump at the offer in a heart beat. Lets take a head count of how many persons who grew up with very strict and authoritarian type of fathers and find out close and bonded they feel with their fathers even after growing up, having wives and kids and living in their own homes...that uneasy feeling is still there. I can go on and on...however for the sake of providence lets learn to love and cherish those we have around us. time is but a mirage.. All the money in the world wont buy happiness, Will you be happy in your old age realising that you have spent your entire life subding, subjugating and talking down your wife. Depriving her of the little essential needs that won't cost you anything.

Ok. The reasons you gave are valid exceptions and should be applied not just to wives but to anyone...even friends. Now outside reasonable scenarios, I don’t understand how someone (not restricted to wife now) would take their sweet time knowing that someone is waiting. It is just plain selfish to me.

To me, you are just playing the guilt card here by appealing to the ‘wife with many chores’ stereotype. Now, look at it from an unbiased point of view. Assuming both husband and wife are equally hardworking in their individual spheres, don’t you think it is selfish of someone to keep another waiting? I for one hate staying where I have no business. i wonder why we take things too seriously. Why will a woman who loves you enjoy keeping you waiting knowing fully well you could be doing something else at that time in the first place. If she asked you to follow her and you declined citing any reason whatsoever nobody will hold it against you. But if you agreed to follow her on your own accord then it is only right that you follow through on your decision. If you follow her and dont want her to spend time then be ready to open up your checkbook. Once seller calls price just wire the funds dont give her space to haggle the price. just say "Baby, i have got this, seller how much?" ***seller tells you price***,and you go "take your money" Very effective in cutting down time spent
BTW if you read through my posts they were focused on the dictatorial attitude of men in the family. Not just in taking their women shopping. I personally dread anywhere with too many women. Markets and Saloons are a No No for me...but still once in a long while i find myself there and what do i do? i blend in.. Someone said he even goes with power bank and research materials . Most women wont even let you follow them, cos it just feels like your dad following you to your school party. They wont feel free and will be doing things in a hurry. speaking from my little experience. But truth remains that women cant help but spend time while they shop. i think its an inbuilt virtue.
