This is true. And this is my challenge with the average man from the South West— especially their intelligentsia and intellectuals. They seem to be in constant and demonic rivalry with the East, at the detriment of Nigeria.

They know that Buhari is clueless and incompetent. But as long as he continues and an Igbo man is not in the top 2 position in Nigeria, they are fine with it— if Nigeria likes, she can become the World Poverty Headquarters.

The Igbo man, for all his faults, appears to put competence above anything else. That is why despite Okadigbo and Umezeokeke being Buhari’s Vice Presidential candidate at various times, the Igbos refused to support their own. Buhari is incompetent to lead a local government, let alone a state capital. But he leads a country in the 21st century. Of course, the North has a multitude of persons with the acumen and competency to lead Nigeria. The North is not Buhari.

Tribal hatred is a terrible thing, especially when it is pointless. I do hope one day, in our life time, this unhelpful rivalry between the South West and the South East will end. GEJ’s end began when he looked around and saw that the best economic hands and gurus were largely Igbos— and appointed them. The South West quickly developed “clueless” tag for him, used their influence in the media and the rest is history, as they say. To the detriment of the entire country.

If Buhari wins, it would be due to their political craft especially in the media, asides the federal might that will be deployed for rigging. And we must commend their political craft. They may win the emotional battle which will be enjoyed at the minute the results are announced- but gloom will immediately return.
