justwise:When you called him out last week, he didn't respond, but nobody knows if you had banned him at the time. How are we to know exactly the time you banned him? justwise:Exactly, so why did you ban him right now? justwise: It's either you don't understand me, or you are pretending not to. What I'm saying is that there are scammers everywhere including this forum, but you don't ban people because they are scammers in real life, you ban them because they have broken a rulle. Mark Zuckerberg will not delete your Facebook account because in real life, you stole someone's money; he will delete it if you break a Facebook rule. My admittance to him being a scammer not not is to lay emphasis on the question of why you didn't ban him at the very time he was scamming people using Nairaland? There has to be a Nairaland rule someone breaks at a particular time for you to ban them. If you knew he was scamming people at particular time using Nairaland, and you did not ban him at the time, then you did not do your job- that does not validate banning him at this time. Who did he decieve at this time? Who did he scam at this time? Why did you ban him at this time and then kept talking about him? justwise: What it seems you are missing is that you think I am attacking you for banning him. No, if we agree that he is a scammer, then, has to be banned. My question is why did you ban him at THIS TIME? With emphasis on "this time"? You are sure that he attempted or used Nairaland to scam people at some point in the past -- yet you did not ban him then when he actually broke Nairaland rules-- so why exactly did you ban him now? Who did he scam now? What was his offence now? His opinion was not different from others, and you confirmed that others attacked you on the same subject, so why did you choose to single him out for banning now? I'm asking a harmless question, if you can give me the reason which is right, then I will keep quiet. Saying you banned him at this time so that he will stop deceiving people makes no sense, are you saying he deceived someone just now? Why didn't you ban him when he did? Or are you saying Nairaland gives people power to postpone people's ban to whenever they please? 8 Likes |

yemiosinbajo: Dude he was banned last week just after i called him out and he decided to insult me rather than defending the allegation. Have you seen him post here since last week? Do you have any idea how many times i have banned him in this section since last year because of his activities? I'm not doing this for money i have a full time job so don't expect me to spend hourly on a single individual monitoring him. 7 Likes |

yemiosinbajo: No i did not say that..i said people disagreed with me and NOT attacked me, nobody here called me names because of him/her disagreed with my view on this issue, he did that only because i called him out, get the difference now? 1 Like |

justwise:I wasn't really expecting an answer to this but I got one. I already called out earlier but didn't get a response. This is rule 22. 22. Don't ask Nairaland members for contact details (email, phone, bbpin) or investments. Did I really ask someone for their contact details? I don't remember doing so as I try as much as possible to follow the rules here on NL. I honestly was shocked I was banned and then after serving the ban still got an extra 1 week on top. I really don't understand how I keep doing the same thing to be honest. |

justwise: I am one of those that expressed a contrarian view to Justwise and I am not banned, at least not yet . Disagreeing with a point of view does not equate to disagreeing with the personality and should not degenerate to disagreeable behavior. I was taken aback by the aggressive personal response from the banned party to Justwise, but chalked it up to the usual lack of online decorum that is unfortunately typical here. Did not know there was some history behind it Being a relatively new poster on this site, I have noticed a tendency for discourse to quickly degenerate into attempts to disparage and belittle. It is not unusual for Nigerians to do this in face to face conversation, but we usually have accompanying facial expressions, body language and hand gestures that reassure the listener that it is all done in jest and no offense meant! In online conversations, these add ons are not present and the discourse comes across as petty and disrespectful. Many posters on here do not realize this. So, what's the point of my diatribe? Some words of advice given in good faith to all posters on Nairaland. When you post something, please go back and review before hitting post. Ask yourself if it addresses the topic at hand or is drifting into the realm of personalities or starting to sound like an attack. I think Justwise did the right thing when the poster asked for offline contact, especially since there was a history of illegal conduct. This is a private site with a reputation to uphold, anyone and everyone can be banned at anytime and for any reason. However, it is incumbent on site admins, including Justwise to be fair and appear impartial in wielding the big stick so that this site does not die away with time. But Posters should not be surprised when they get banned. I believe I was banned once for a few days, just a few days after I started posting and I still have no idea why. Justwise - How about this idea. To be more transparent, how about a quick posting when a moniker is banned stating reason for ban and the duration? This may also serve as a deterrent to others. Happy Sunday to all. 2 Likes |

Mancala: Every mods has to give reason for banning a member and the reason will be at the person's profile but i'm not sure if others can see it apart from the banned member. I do not have the time and the energy to write out every individual that got banned openly here. |

And some more food for thought from a dispassionate point of view. It is absolutely okay to point out the inconsistencies in LUCAS99's historical postings and scream Caveat Emptor from the roof tops, but we should be careful with the labeling and name calling on a public forum. All indications may point to him being a scammer, but without active evidentiary support, we should leave that conclusion to the reader, or wait until he is convicted be a competent authority. I am not saying he is or he is not, but remember, the law is an ass! You never know where the chips may fall. 5 Likes |

claremont: Beautyaddy: justwise: Yes I quite agree. While some of us come here to have loads of fun and of course expose phony lowlifes like him in the process Banning him does not mean he will not open another ID and continue his bombastic fraudulent spree but the fact that that ID already has a long history of terrible things he will either naturally desist, lay low and will be hard for him to deceive people with COMMON SENSE i repeat COMMON SENSE 1 Like |

Mancala: A proud, unrepentant fraudster does not deserve mercy. If the leader of the free world has not died from the various names he has been called without no court of competent jurisdiction authorizing the name I do not see any reason why Lucas99 or any other liar, fraudster, scam artist should have a problem with it. it is a free world and expressions are free. He is the rich boy from Miami he should sue me to court if I have trampled upon his rights 2 Likes |

Mancala: There is evidence that he is a fraudtser , he even admitted to it on the student visa thread. Also analyze this , how do you go from begging on a student visa thread , to rich kids of Miami and then opening Go fund me for immigration purposes . There are too many inconsistencies to in his story. 1 Like |

AfonjaBoston: In my opinion, it is not about what or who is deserving or otherwise. It's all about who we are or who we profess to be as a people. We say everyone is innocent until proven guilty. We should at least accord him these courtesies according to what we profess. There are several ways to skin a cat. In my eyes, the point has been made by simply laying out the inconsistencies in his postings. I'm sure any reasonable person will reach the same conclusion without the labels. Why do we do this? Justice severed is not sufficient in a civilized society. Justice must be seen to be fair and along the predetermined guidelines. This is why even when a suspect is caught red handed, say stealing, we never say he/she is a thief. He/she is allegedly a thief until found guilty! |

Babyvet: I agree with you and commend you for the way you elegantly stated the facts. All should note what was said.. "there is evidence that he is a fraudster" and the facts that follow. Even better would have been to say there is evidence to suggest that he is a fraudster. You have made your point devoid of name calling. My position is that it is "better" to avoid name calling. Others may disagree. |

TheCongo2:The refugee board is not smiling. You are a Nigerian and you crossed from the US, it would take a miracle to be granted immigration status. Go through the following cases below and see. She'll be asked why didn't she claim the refugee status in the US.
