The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) insists neither they nor the Ivorian government have been informed by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) of a possible shift in their hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.

The Ivorian Federation reacted to an interview Caf president Ahmad gave to Afrique Media TV on Monday when Ahmad said that Cameroon - stripped of the 2019 hosting rights - would replace Ivory Coast as hosts in 2021 and the latter would instead stage the 2023 tournament.

"We made this decision to shift, because we saw that Ivory Coast also is not ready for 2021. To do things in a more humane way, in 2021, the Cameroonians will be ready.

"And in 2023, we will organise the tournament in Ivory Coast. This is the decision taken by the Caf Executive Committee on November 30, 2018 in Accra," Ahmad said.

A letter from Ahmad to the Cameroon President Paul Biya dated 30 November 2018, seen by BBC Sport, has also surfaced in Cameroon where Ahmad has invited Cameroon to host the 2021 Nations Cup.

However, FIF revealed in a statement on Tuesday, that it has written to Caf to remind the body of the decision it took in 2014, and said the "Federation deplores this way of proceeding."

"It is reported that the Ivorian state authorities and the leaders of the Ivorian Football Federation have been approached by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) and that they would have been consulted on the recent decision taken by the Executive Committee of the said Confederation regarding the organisation of CAN 2021 which has been designated to the Ivory Coast, by the unanimous members of the Caf Executive Committee meeting in Addis Ababa in September 2014, following a successful bid," the Ivorian Federation stated. 

"The Ivorian Football Federation wishes to formally deny this allegation. No Ivorian state authority, nor any leader of the Federation, at any level whatsoever, has been contacted or approached by the African Football Confederation before taking this decision.

"In addition, President Augustin Sidy Diallo was in Accra to attend the final of the CAN Women and at no time was he informed by any leader of the African Football Confederation with regards to anything relating to this subject."

Caf, which is still looking for a new host for the 2019 Nations Cup, has not made any official statement on the reported swap and some top officials told the BBC that only president Ahmad or the general-secretary Amr Fahmy can confirm this latest development.

Guinea, who were given hosting rights for 2023, would also be affected by this shift. Guinea, which has never hosted the competition, promised to use Conakry, Kankan, Labe and Nzerekore as venues.

Back in October, Ivory Coast Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly had laid the foundation stone of a brand new football stadium in Yamoussoukro as work commenced in preparation for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hundreds of people were present at the site for the 20,000-capacity stadium in the political capital, which is expected to be one of six venues for the tournament.

Coulibaly promised a budget of 300 million euros ($345 million) investment in infrastructure in preparation of the country's first hosting of the event since 1984.

Work on a separate 60,000-capacity stadium in Abidjan began in 2016, while other new grounds are scheduled at San Pedro and Korhogo, and the renovation of a major stadium at Bouake (40,000) is also on the agenda.

For goodness sake, why are people comparing him to Mbappe who is one of the two youngest players to score a world cup brace and also score in the finals. Coupled with the fact that he was reared up in France's footballing program. It's unfair.

Solanke was scoring goals for fun at youth level and has done zilch at senior level. What about Akpom? Arturo Lupoli? Scoring at youth level does not mean you will be given a chance at senior level.

For every wayne Rooney, there are maybe 10 other talented youngsters that were wasted at youth level and are now play non-league football.

That's why they have essentially not progressed. Akpom had several chances on loan but has not been impressive and now in Greece.

Solanke has left Chelsea believing he will progress but has not been able to break through, considering he has Firmino, Sturridge, Origi to contend with it is not surprising.

Do we have any strikers that will not be bench warmers at Liverpool that is if they can even get on the bench.

Football is about consistent continous top class outstanding performances. It's about improving what you do each season. Because if you are not improving you are regressing.

Chukwueze has just played a handful of games he hasn't played one full season yet. Without doubt he has shown promise and potential but that's all.

How many players have been one or even two seasons wonders. Then we hear nothing again.

Unfortunately we have such a scarcity of top talent that any one shows some promise we BLOW IT UP.

Let's not get too excited but have a balanced view. He is not playing for Villarreal not Barca or Real.

Origi is average and very far from being top class he is no way on the level of Firmino , Sturridge, Salah, Mane, etc However, he is 23 and has had 7 seasons of top fight football that gives him an edge over Solanke and is still regarded as a good striker.

Nonetheless, because Solanke has not been outstanding Origi has fallen back into contention his goal against Everton on Sunday has even given him added impetus. But both Solanke and Origi are not the Quality required for Liverpool, hence Shaqiri is ahead of both of them.

Origi will probably be sold in January.

For the record,I never compared Chukwueze to Mpabbe...Those accusing me of doing so can show me proof where I said so... And I repeat that Chukwueze with his current form can make PSG team... Of course we aren't certain of what the future holds for him.. but there's no denying that he is in form.. certainly among the hottest talents in Spain right now... With constant outstanding performance he will be up there among the best in a few years...

All this talk of Chukwueze not making the first eleven of this club or that club us is rubbish... If you are good,the world will notice you.. Three years ago,when Ekong was playing in lowly Norwegian league who would have thought that he would one day be a starter in the serieA? When Iheanacho was playing for Nigeria's youth team,how many people expected him to command a starting shirt in a star studded man city team? Uzoho was playing in the Spanish third division last season and he is in the second division this season..whom knows where he will be in a few years?

My point is,we shouldn't underrate our talents that easily. they have the potential to be world class players...

After Sturridge, Origi is Liverpool's most reliable out and out striker... His moving to Wolfsburg has to do with is desire to play for Belgium at the world cup ..Under Klopp there's little room for an out and out striker.. Firmino is always the first choice at false9 which means limited game time for the other strikers... Those two factsrs influenced Origi decision to leave on loan.In his absence your beloved Solanke was brought in to fill the void, but what did he do??

Actually Mbappe is barely five months older than Chukwueze.

When Chukwueze was playing youth football Mbappe was already playing first team football for Monaco . Indeed he has had three seasons of first team in France with top teams.

Although only 19 he is a young experienced first team player who is in fourth season of professional football. In addition he has had 28 caps for France. With due respect, do we have any player that can get into the French national team ❓ ❓

Essentially there is no comparison between Chukwueze and Mbappe.

And if Mbappe was in Villareal he would be one of the top scorers in La Liga even with a Villarreal in the relegation zone.
