Hello everyone, please I need your advice.

I was granted a US visa last year to attend my Cousin’s wedding in Atlanta. Due to work commitments, I couldn’t make it then.

Now I am travelling to New York on vacation and will be staying in an hotel. Considering the change in intention, is there possibility that I may have any issue at the POE.

Will really appreciate your advice/suggestions.

Not necessarily, but the possibility is very much there, especially because of New York. Entering New York can be for “good” purpose and can be the other way round too....

Six months stamp in though visa expires in December.i think the letter from company made things easier,stating project am handling and etc

POE: where are you going today?

Me: Told him

PoE: how long are you staying

ME : 10 DAYS

PoE: how much do you have with it?

Me: $$$$

PoE: checked and stamped my boys Passport

POE: checked my wife passport, asked again where we intend to stay and separated my wife passport from my boys own.

PoE: checked and stamped my passport. And handed it over to me together with my boys Passport.

PoE: he then called secondary security, follow him your wife passport has some issues.

SS: Follow me please, you guys can go down , mum might join you soon.

SS AND MY WIFE

Wife: Sat for like 5 minutes( she noticed one officer was busy monitoring her

SS: where are you coming from?

Wife: Nigeria

SS: the issue you have with your passport is that when you applied for this visa, you said you will be going to Florida, why are you now in houston?

Wife: we decided to visit NASA space center because my boy want to see a space ship.

SS: what about your husband and children?

Wife: They are outside waiting for me

SS: DO you guys arrived together?

Wife: yes

SS: so, why are you in Houston?

Wife: my boy will like to see a space ship, so we are visiting the NASA space center.

SS: But there is also NASA space center in Florida

Wife: I am not aware.

SS: How old is the Boy?

Wife : 4yrs and 10 months

SS: how old is the second one?

Wife: 19 Months.

SS: where did you plan to go in Florida? Orlando?

Wife: Disney world

SS:How much do you have with You?

SS: so ,where are you staying?

Wife: Told them, seems they didnt get it, so, she handed them the hotel payment receipt with hotel reservation slip.

SS: checked the payment receipt, entered the address into their system and asked how long are you staying?

Wife: 10 days

SS: the second SS officer was busy looking through out the interview observing body posture

SS: Handed her passport and said have fun.

Lesson learnt:

1: my wife filled all the forms by her self, this made answering all the questions easy.
2. The hotel payment receipt. Some guys where sent back because of only reservation.
3. This platform. Wifey studied this platform as if her life depends on it from page 1 to 98.
4. Prayer. It works all the time.

She has to file for a spousal visa for you at the us visa ctr by filling the form i130 or i129 and submitting n paying a total sum of $820 if it hadn't been increased now...

Hmmm...Another reason they might have done that is to find out if she had other hidden intentions of going to the US like for child birth but failed to disclose it during her interview at the US embassy.

A number of Nigerian women have been caught doing that.

Emirates connect will be beneficiary to most passenger flying from Abuja to Dubai (because Emirates flies 4x a week from Abuja and 2X daily from Lagos) with that said.. before you can be eligible for Emirates connect (Economy Class) you must have a layover of more than 6 hours or more in Dubai (it's almost impossible for passengers flying to New York, London, Paris etc because Emirates flies to these destination every 5 hours or so.)

In my own case, what I did was to fly to Washington D.C, which of course was once everyday from Dubai around 2am, meanwhile my flight from Abuja landed in Dubai around 4:23am so the next flight to Washington D.C from Dubai will be 2am next day. (21 hours layover)

Please note that better flight connections may be shown, meaning that long stopover expenses may not be covered if flights with the best available connection time are not selected meaning you must book the flight with the best available connection before you can be offered Emirates Connect.

This service is only available for passengers aged 18 years or older, and is only provided in Dubai. Passengers under the age of 18 can use this service if they are traveling with another passenger who is over 18 years.

@ misspetit. U can take ur vacation anytime. Vacation doesn't depends on the season of the year. Like someone said before not all the states in USA experience snow. Most Midwestern states, northern state and eastern states in USA experience snow. Most southern states doesn't experience snow. Try to see and confirm the state u are in going. Be careful not to mention any snow related activities or vacation to any states that doesn't experience snow. Good luck

So I got into Washington Yesterday. Cbp was a breeze apart from the long queue. The interview felt like I was chatting with a friend. I wasn't asked anything different from what people have been stating here.

Officer: beckons on me to move forward

Me: (walks up to his counter and hands him my passport and customs card) Good afternoon

Officer: (Nods) where is your final destination

Me: Here in DC

Officer: where will you be staying.

Me: (Mentions the hotel)

Officer: beckons on me to stand infront of his biometric machine then continues with his questions ( takes pictures and fingerprints)

Officer: do you have any family or friends here

Me: No, just me on vacation.

Officer: have you been here before?

Me: No, first time in the US.

Officer: ooh I see. So how do you intend to get around?

Me: For today taxi, subsequently metro and taxi to some places. My hotel is right in the middle of most places I want to visit.

Officer: which places will you visit?

Me: I am going on a museum crawl.. I will visit all the smithsonian musuem.. Especially the one about black history. I have forgotten the name. And ooh I will definitely visit the home of George Washington and take loads of pictures

Officer: (he smiles) seems like you have everything well planned out.

Me: ooh Yes! ( with a short laugh) I dont intend to waste my 8 days.

Officer: You are staying for 8 days?

Me: Yes

Officer: How much do you have to spend?

Me: I have 2k cash and I have my debit card incase of emergency

Good day house, plz what will happen assuming the school resume today and in going to USA tomorrow, will there any problem at the Port of entry ?

I am traveling with a student visa, I need clarification whether it is compulsory to travel with bank statement for the purpose of port of entry.

Secondly I will be landing at Washington but my school is in Louisiana, should I worry about explaining why?
