So a relative of mine bought a Sony xperia Z tablet 2013 brand new in 2014, I knew this because we had 3 choice of tablets
a 2012 note 10.1 N8000 priced 80k

a 2014 note 10.1 2014 priced 150k
and
The Sony bought at 120k including pouch and memory card.

In 2017, the tab was rough handled by a toddler and one part of the touch digitizer stop functioning, there was a line from top to buttom on the screen.

After several attempts to find the screen it wasn't forth coming, I even contacted an engineer here in 2017 and he billed me 100k for screen replacement. Others billed 60k lowest and we still have to drop the tab for several weeks and no positive outcome.

The screen wasn't available in computer village and Sony care centre didn't have it.

I was able to manage a work around of using a mouse on the tablet but that was cumbersome only good for reading or watching movies. felt like using a miniature laptop.

first thing is to download the aliexpress app and register a user name on the app.

Go to nigeria postal codes dot com to get the postal code of your location to make sorting to your postal location easy incase your address is not right or traceable you can pick up at the postal office yourself.

After registration you need to confirm your account first before shopping.

After confirmation you will receive a notification to that effect via mail and also in app then shopping begins.

so my shopping began on 11/11/2018 after researching information I settled for the complete screen with digitizer touch. The touch is near impossible to separate from the screen so best thing is to buy a complete which I did.

This is where reading is important as looking won't help you and price. The touch alone is cheap so read specs of your choice before selecting

After three days of purchase and payment which was done with my Gtbank master debit card, I got debited second day by Gtbank with notification. I paid around 14, Bleep for a 40.xx dollar worth of goods. Do the maths people.

I got mail from the store that the screen selected was bad I should extend shipping date by 20 days, wahala dey. I did extend by 20 days and the app counter increase from 2 weeks for refund If seller didn't ship to 25 days.

3days after the incident I got a mail that my good has been shipped. I got a goods I'D and a tracking number. In the app, under orders, the notification changed that my good has been shipped and a link to in app tracking provided and a 3rd party link to a shipping tracker also provided. The in app tracker is enough for all you need, it updates itself and notification so you can know when and where you goods are.

why does aliexpress place two prices on a product, like $300-$330, which is the real price

Prices are different from same product because of different vendors are on the platform. Also read description well before buying a products.

My replacement screen was complete screen plus digitizer and touch also the shipper sent tools along with the package.

In our experience, one shipping is factored in from a lot of AliExpress vendors, no longer a price saver. Might as well buy in Naija. Used to be an electronics vendor there back in the day.

Sony is a premium brand and the major issue is always spare parts. Exporting a sample was cheaper than buying in nigeria I got a new screen 100k used 60k and I got my new unit quarter price of used price given to me

For products that have different prices, there is usually a variation in specification either in size or in some cases something might be added to get the higher price.

Bros I have only used aliexpress once.

If you are ordering from 1 vendor he would pack everything in one place which won't be bulky, I don't expect you to pay even upto that, I stay in an high brow area reason why I was charged 1k I no get strength to bargain so I just paid the 1k people normally pay between nada to 300 naira for stuffs heavier than what I ordered.

My issue though may be custom charges for you but just tell the vendor to write your name and number and say it's a gift item during packaging

It all depends.

From AliExpress to Nigeria, you can get the seller to ship it for Free. Most sellers would agree depending on the value or volume.

In Nigeria, if AliExpress seller use a registered post to ship your order, It would get to the nearest post office close to your delivery address, so Nipost dispatch either bring your product to your doorstep or call you to come pick up your product at their office (Depending on the Area).

Nipost fee is between #0 - #500 depending on the weight of the package.

Cheers

they deliver to doorstep?

Yeah depending on the area.

On the island (depending on area) they deliver your product to your doorstep.

In some areas on the island, you have to visit the post office to collect your product but wait until they call you especially if you're between Elegushi and Chevron because your product might be at Lekki Post Office on Admiralty road whereas you head toward Ikota post office. Wait for thier call to know which post office to approach for your product.

On the mainland, mostly you have to go to the post office to claim your product.

If you're on the mainland, track your order, once it shows "Unsuccessful Delivery" just go to the nearest post office to your address or better still wait for them to call you.

yes they do. When the package reaches nigeria, the aliexpress in app tracker would update that package delivery unsuccessful. Then you head to nipost tracking app and it would tell you which exact post office your package is

http://www.nipost.gov.ng/Trackconfirm_1.aspx

The screen shot below is an example of mine.

My item arrived at their eti osa office (which is a stone throw away from me) but due to my location (I am stay in the boarder between ikoyi and eti osa but my address is at ikoyi they moved it to the ikoyi office which is far from me.

I was to go pickup myself when I saw delivery unsuccessful before I got a call from nipost that am I at home, they want to come and deliver my package to me.

The important thing after shopping is to ensure you fill the comment side and drop a note to seller to write you phone number atleast on the package

Wow. Useful thread.

I wanna order for a small sized quad-copter, (and its free shipping).

How about customs fee? who handles it? Do I just order for it and wait till I'm called to pick it up?

cc TheCar , nurey

Thanks

Normally there are items that are exempted from custom duty because they a not brought in to the country in commercial quantity. As nigeria is a lawless country they may decide to hook you with custom fee depending on cost of the product. if the cost is minimal they may overlook it size and weight also matters.
