I know. But I have other plans for this story. I need to publish it on Amazon before I can post the complete story here. If I post the complete story here, Amazon would block me from publishing on their platform. There is a way they search the Internet if your story/book is available for free online.

I wish I could too. But accolades don't translate to money. I wish I could write one novel a month all year round, but I got house rent and different bills to pay, and sometimes business doesn't go too well. Since I started writing professionally in 2015, I haven't made up to N50,000 cummulative from my book sales. Time is money, and money is very important in this world.

If I set up a GoFundMe account for the completion of this story, fans will disappear. lol

I have accepted the fact that Nigerians don't buy books...hard pill to swallow. So, I have decided to keep posting my stories here for free. This particular story has been made into a series, so this first part just has 3-4 short chapters left. I will be posting them soonest.

Chapter 6

Ndidi met Olu on the way to his house. He had been on a walk, and they decided to walk and talk. She was surprised she had never seen him around all this while, and he told her he had seen her a lot before they formally met when she came with Jonathan to his dojo. They shared small talk, and he told her how he was able to rent the former church building for cheap because the church was accused of burying a cow in the backyard as a sacrifice. No one else wanted to rent the place after they vacated it. No one even wanted to buy the property when the landlord put it on the market.

“And you don’t think anything of the rumors?”
He smiled before answering her with “Whatever you believe has power over you. If you don’t believe it, it doesn’t. Simple.”
“Mmm…You make it seem that simple.”
“It is. It becomes complicated when people don’t know they have powers themselves. So, they use it against themselves.”
They walked in silence for a couple of minutes as she thought of what he had just said. It made a lot of sense to her, but the large population of Africans would always be superstitious, no matter how much enlightenment was going on in the world.

They were by an intersection now and she saw an aluminum plate at the mid section of the three streets. She made sure to move as far away from it as possible, and Olu smiled at her. The plate contained a concoction of palm oil, leaves, salt, a chicken head, a couple of Naira notes, and some coins; a sacrifice to the gods of the land. Although the street Ndidi lived on was very modern, the neighborhood as a whole was still very backward and fetish. It also had a problem with some young thieves that called themselves The Thirty Thousand Boys gang. They were a bunch of teenage boys that robbed shops and houses in the area. They usually operated in a unit of fifty or sixty at a time. The community had to employ the services of special vigilante squad that came every night to secure the area. Crime rate had reduced ever since then.

“I’m tempted to walk over there and pick up those Naira notes. I think I can fill up my gas cylinder with the money.” Olu said with a smile. Ndidi looked at him shocked, with her mouth open. “What? You feel the gods would strike me down if I did so?” She didn’t anything, but her facial expression showed that she didn’t think he was serious. “I could do it, and nothing would happen to me because I don’t believe in all that. But I do respect everyone’s right to practice whatever religion they wish to practice. So I wouldn’t do it.”
“Better.” She said with a nod.

They took the road to their right that would circle them around back to Ndidi’s street. It was a very quiet street, with very light vehicular traffic. Most of the houses on the street were still under construction, and was quite serene. There were a couple of shops down the street where traders came to sell used clothes once a week.
“I want to talk to you about something.” She said and looked sideways at him.
“Okay.”
“Have you ever thought of using your power for good? I mean like using it to fight crime.” He sighed, but didn’t say anything. “You really good help a lot of people you know.”
“I have thought about it.”
“And…”
“Ndidi, the world is dual, and it is always balanced.” She looked at him confused and he proceeded to say “There has to be a left, for there to be a right. There is no up without down. And funny as it may sound to you, there has to be evil for good to exist.”
“So…”
“If I decide to start fighting evil today, it will only take a while before greater evil that I can’t fight pops up; and then what?”
“Then…I don’t know, but you can’t just stand by and do nothing when you know you can do something to help.”
“Ndidi, there is the police and the military of the country to check crime already.”
“But they are not doing enough. You could do better than them, or at least assist them.”
“You want me to expose my powers and abilities to people?” He said with a smile. “You and I know what would happen to me if I did that.”
She went silent. She knew he was right in a way. If people knew what he could do, they would term him evil, and probably lynch him. She didn’t want to push any further on the issue, so she changed the subject. “Tell me more about your abilities.” She said with a smile.
“Well, as I said the other day, I have developed telekinesis abilities over the years.”
“Hmm. So, basically, if you were a super hero you would be called the telekinesis man.” She said and looked up at him.
“Well, if you say so.”
“My little brother showed me a sketch he did last night. It was of a levitating man in a black costume and a red cape. He wrote your name at the bottom of the sketch.” Olu smiled at what she had said. When he didn’t say anything, she went on to say “Can you fly though?”
“I can levitate, but I’m still working on perfecting my flight pattern.”
“It would be super cool if you could actually fly.”
“Yes, that would be cool. But what is cooler than that is astral travel.”
“Astral travel?”
“Yes. That’s when you leave your body and travel around the world in the spirit.”
“Hmm! Now that’s an ability you don’t want to tell people you have.” She said and he smiled, lost in thought. “Is it possible though?”
“Yes. We really are spirit beings in this meat suit called the body.”
“Hmm.”
“If the body dies, it doesn’t mean the person dies. He just loses the meat suit. He will still exist in the universal mind.”
“Hmm.”
“And if he can cause a spark to get his body working again, he can reenter the body.”
“Creepy.” She said with a quizzical look on her face. “So if…” She was saying and was startled by a loud cry. There was chaos up ahead and people running in a mad, helter-skelter fashion as a group of bandit looking teenagers walked through the middle of the street, with guns and machetes raised. “Shit! It’s the Thirty Thousand Boys gang.”Ndidi said out loud.

Chapter 7

They were about 3 dozen of them, looting shops and robbing passersby of their money as they matched menacingly through the street. This was the first time ever they would be operating in broad day light. They were mostly lanky teenage kids ranging from 14-17; they wouldn’t have been so much of a terror if they were just a bunch of teenage boys looking for trouble, but they operated in large groups, and always had deadly weapons with them. And of course, they were all fortified with African black magic.

Olu and Ndidi were a few meters away from them now, walking into sudden danger. Olu knew they couldn’t outrun them, so he held Ndidi’s hand and covered himself and Ndidi with a force field of positive vibration.

It worked. Ndidi couldn’t believe it. They walked through the terrorizing boys like they were invisible. There was chaos everywhere. When she turned back and saw one of the boys about to rape a teenage girl right there on the streets, she stopped and said “Please, Olu, you have to do something. Please.”
“They are too many, I can’t fight them all.” He said without turning around. He was still doing his best to hold the force field around them.
“NO!” Ndidi shouted out, let go of Olu’s hand and ran towards the girl that was about to be raped. The force field around them got broken, and all eyes were now on them.
“Bleep!” Olu cursed under his breath before running after Ndidi. She was by the girl that was being held down about to be raped, and as she tried to pull the girl away from the guy, he slapped her in the face hard, causing her to cry out. Olu got there on time to stop another slap from connecting with Ndidi’s face. He grabbed the teenage boy’s hand with his left, and with his free right hand, did judo move to the guy’s throat. The boy went down on his knees, coughing and whizzing. “Get behind me, now!” He shouted out and Ndidi quickly pulled the girl up and got behind Olu’s towering figure. “Now, listen to me carefully.” Olu said in a low voice to Ndidi. “Take the girl and walk slowly away. Don’t worry; none of them will get past me.”
“Okay. I believe you.” Ndidi said. She took a deep breath and started walking away with the girl. Just then, one the boys cursed out loud in Yoruba, “Iyalaya!” He dragged the machete in his hand on the concrete as he approached Olu. He was the biggest of them all; about 6 foot tall and muscular. “You dear challenge The Thirty Thousand boys. You will die today.” He said out loud and charged towards Olu with the machete in the air. When he got close enough to Olu, he attempted to strike Olu’s in the neck. But Olu grabbed his wrist, and twisted it. The guy let out a loud cry as the machete fell to the floor. A powerful uppercut followed, and it had the boy flying in the air. He landed with a thud a few meters away. Olu looked back to make sure Ndidi was safe. She had gotten about a few hundred meters away from him with the teen girl. When he looked forward again, he saw a majority of the bandits walking towards him, with some of them cocking their guns. There was no time to waste. Even though he had sworn never to do this, he had no other choice. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes for a second, and let out a loud “ahh!” sound with his hands outstretched towards the gang of boys. They all fell like a pack of cards.
It was like a sonic boom. As the dust settled, he accessed the damage. The bolt he sent out was just enough to knock them out for a couple of minutes, so he turned around ran away from the scene. Not only didn’t he want to stick around for them to regroup, he also didn’t want normal people around to know what had just happened. It had happened so fast that even the boys wouldn’t know what hit them when they regained consciousness.

……….

A few hours later, after law enforcement agents had come to clear the scene, she went over to see Olu. The experience was so life threatening that she just wanted to be with him. Danger had always turned her on, and she had just witnessed one of the most dangerous events of her life. Now, inside his one room shack, she just wanted to have him hold her. The room was very simple; no TV or sound system. He just had a sofa and a bed, some paintings hanging on the walls, and a wool rug covered the entire length of the room. She walked from one painting to the other. They were all similar; just white and black pattern paintings that could get you into a hypnotic state if you stared at them for too long.

She had intentionally worn a short body hugging black gown to seduce him. She knew what was about to happen when she heard his heavy breathing behind her. He was like a beast in heat. Gently and slowly, his hands went up her dress, and grabbed her breasts. She let out a gasp and leaned back on his chest. He kissed her neck passionately as he fondled her breasts. She turned around slowly. She wanted to look in his eyes. He longed for her so much, and she stood on her tip toes to kiss him.

They kissed passionately for a few seconds, before he left her off the ground, and carried her to the bed, where they made passionate love.

Chapter 8

It was dark now, as they lay half naked in bed talking. He was telling her about how he hadn’t had sex in almost a year and he just couldn’t control himself any longer. She asked him if, like Samson in the Bible, he had lost all his powers. He laughed and said he didn’t care about that right now. He started kissing all over her face and she kept laughing. This was a really different side of him she was seeing; a very playful side, and it turned her on.

Olu froze all of a sudden and she tensed up. “What’s wrong?” She asked in a low voice but he said nothing. From the look on his face she could tell he had sensed danger. He was about to get up from the couch when someone kicked down the room door and Ndidi screamed. Olu quickly got off the bed. With one hand he jacked up the lanky teenager off the ground and flung him to the side. The guy hit the window hard and shattered it. Ndidi let out another loud cry as she covered her naked body up with white sheets and moved to safe corner of the bed. The second guy that rushed in was met with a one two combo punch to the stomach from Olu; and then an uppercut that sent him flying into the other members of his gang by the door.

Olu rushed over to the window, to check if they could go out through there, but there were vertical iron bars in place. He knew that already, but his survival instinct still had to check. He looked at Ndidi, and signaled for her to stay down as he headed back towards the door. Just then, Ndidi heard a loud deafening noise. And then two more gunshots rang out, making Olu stagger back into the room. Ndidi was about to scream but lost her voice as she saw the bullet wounds on Olu’s body; one on his shoulder, one on his upper arm area, and one around his chest.

The room was very small, and the echo of the gun shots had caused her temporal deafness. She watched Olu slump to the floor, and about four of the Thirty Thousand Boys gang rushed into the room. One of them went over to pick up his fallen soldier by the window and the rest examined Olu’s body.

When Ndidi started getting some part of her hearing back, she heard them saying something in Yoruba. She understood the language well enough to know they were asking if he was really dead. Dead! Ndidi thought to herself. No, he can’t be dead. I caused this. If he didn’t have sex with me, he would have been ready for them, and would have been powerful enough to repel the bullets. She thought to herself.

Fear gripped every part of her body when they shifted focus from Olu to her. She could see in their eyes that they were only thinking of one thing; sex. Just as the first one of them made an attempt to head for where she was on the bed, she heard whistles going off outside. The guy froze and they exchanged a few quick words before running out of the room. She had been saved by the whistles of the ever vigilant vigilantes in her neighborhood.

When the boys left the room, Ndidi wrapped the sheets around her chest and got off the bed. She sat on the floor next to Olu’s body. “Olu. Olu.” She slapped his cheeks lightly a few times as she called out his name. “They are gone. You can wake up now.” He was in a pool of his own blood, and as she lifted up his upper body she knew he was gone, even though she still didn’t want to accept the fact. Tears rolled down her eyes as she put his head on her lap and looked down at his lifeless body. She knew he would still be alive if she hadn’t come into his life. And then she started sobbing uncontrollably, shaking all over.

The End

The book 2 will be out soon.
