Sometimes Tanzanian men sing almost as if they are women. I don't understand how they do it. They sound Indian (the best way I can put it). And this becomes so so romantic.

The early speakers of Swahili weren't the high status guys in east African coasts,but the lowly.These were the guys who didn't know to give order to others but what they knew was to ask gently,with much humbleness they tried to speak with their foreign masters(or the rich).It was the language associated with pleading and humbleness from the very beginning. It was softly spoken.Politely.

Swahili have remained just the same..Gentleness,humbleness, and softness are what shows how well you speak Swahili.For a natural born speakers like myself,its a ' sin' not to use the word "naomba" in anything you want someone to do. Naomba means I humbly ask you,naomba can also mean may I,it can also mean I pray,it can also mean I am pleading,also it means I am begging.
For a unnatural speakers its strange for them to use a word naomba when they are in control of situation.

I still doubt, Mombasa County had a population of 915k in 2009, Mombasa Metro extends beyond Mombasa County and will be over 1.2M in 2009. Currently Mombasa Metro has at least 1.6M people. It's only that Mombasa is compact and high density hence smaller in Area.
