To me as long as his fone didn't come with play store installed, bootloader locked, no multi language, no multiple regions,.. It can't be shop rom,.. In other words original Chinese version..

That was why I also told the guy to flash the original Chinese ROM before updating via OTA....The same guy that helped you can also help him

I think we're the ones doing guess work. Cus the guy got Chinese version. Unless there's shop rom of Chinese version. The installed version is cn, the update version cn also...

It's no big deal, the owner of the phone should just be aware of the options available to him, if he is paranoid then fastboot flash is the way or he should use the feedback app on MIUI, in one of the options I think there is a list of official every room ever made for any device, if he sees his rom version there then it should be safe to update it but if he wants absolute peace of mind then unlock bootloader plus fasboot flash is his safest option, whether the rom in the phone is shop rom or not

I use stock cam that works well with no green picture, are you on the latest build? Me I stopped flashing random stuff after I nearly bricked my phone
