Either it is propaganda as usual or the foreigners found a way to get into the Nigerian aviation market through a front. Babawande Afolabi has no financial clout to pull off such a deal.

/
Afolabi isn’t going about the venture alone, he has some experienced hands from American Airlines, and a financial firm backing him.

Moreover, the article states that GAA has 50 firm orders and 50 optional orders. So, GAA may decide to forego the 50 optional orders until they become a much bigger player in the African aviation market.
Besides, GAA only needs to make a deposit, not the full payment, in order to receive the new planes.

This is always how they wail in the early stages, nobody is talking about how a smart Yoruba man is bringing together retired successful aviation expert/analyst/investors together to invest in a joint investment, managed by a Yoruba intern from one of the worlds best financial institutions.

Do you know that these something all investors are jumping at right now, The African Continental Free Trade Area & Single African Open Skies Agreement.

Meaning people with large fleet of latest Airplanes will only survive in the competition coming in the next 10 years (Bigger Airlines will swallow the smaller ones). In business you forecast what 10 to 30 years will look like. Winner Takes All.

They just got their license from the Nigerian government last year.

When the business starts to flourish, they will start to complain why all investment is always in South Western Nigeria.

Yoruba's don't make noise all over the place like little kids, our rich men try to compete with the very best in the world.[/b]

There is no such thing as experienced hands in this kind of deal. Experienced hands are in management not funding. Funding is either by banks or "invisible/invicible" hands. Someone being the President/CEO of a corporation does not mean the person owns the majority shares. On paper yes. It usually takes an indictment for real owners to show. But then we are at liberty to believe what we want. That's the beauty of it.

How many functioning airports does Nigeria have to support this many planes?
How many high denity routes are there for 100 jets.
Can FAM handle the air traffic control for 100 jets flying in Nigerian airspace just like that?
Where will they get the Jet A1 fuel and air crews from?
Sorry but the infrastructure required does not exhist.

Of the 100 orders, 50 are optional. So, the airline has the option to modify or cancel the optional orders, depending on the market demand and infrastructural constraints.

Besides, the airline won’t only be plying domestic routes. GAA is also planning to fly African routes as well. With 50 or more aircraft, it’s entirely plausible that they would achieve their goals.
