Hi everyone. Happy holidays.

It has been a long time since I actively played any game that is not titled Football Manager. I want to get back into the gaming community, but so much as changed since 2010 ( cry cry cry ) although I've read up a bit on the topic, I very much interested on hearing the opinions of other gamers (ex and active) in the house.

By the way the system on my mind is a Gaming PC that comes with the new RTX 2070. Its called Mantis (can't remember the full name), but it's expensive gon! $1500+ cry cry

Thanks for reading.

Last console I bought was PlayStation 3. Only played PS4 twice and that was during my NYSC (14). Compared to most gaming PC/Laptops (the powerful ones) I've seen, consoles are somewhat lagging behind. But PS4 pro and Scorpio are lit tho...

If you have the money for the RTX 2070, then go for it. But you must have enough money for the components to match it, in terms of RAM and CPU. Meaning, it doesn't make sense to have an 8gb ram and i5 core on a system with RTX 2070. Balance everything.

Concerning the question, if you want a console, get a PS4. Ps4 pro would be ideal, but keep in mind that ps4 is reaching the end of its life cycle and ps5 will release in 2020 or so..... but you can still fully enjoy your ps4 in 2 years.
If you want a gaming PC, get a gaming desktop (not a gaming laptop). Gaming laptops are crazy expensive compared to gaming PC and yet not as strong. A GTX 1070 desktop is around 15% stronger than a GTX 1070 laptop, AND cheaper.

If you have to choose between PC and console, I'll recommend PC. If you care about exclusives, you may have to think more on that. I'm still sad about not being able to play Marvel's Spiderman, God of war and RDR2. cry

By the way, I own a gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 max-q.

The difference isn't so pronounced, consoles deliver the average gaming experience adequately... I have gtx 1070 8gb gathering dust for months since I got p4 slim, that's almost 500k lying fallow

Re: Gaming PC Or Gaming Laptop Or Console by LucemFerre: 12:26pm On Dec 26, 2018
It's simple...
Console
PROS:
- Built for gaming (specifically)
- No need for upgrade within the present generation
- Better exclusives

CONS:
- Less powerful (it's really not a thing unless you're a showoff)
- Expensive on the long run
- Disc may damage
- Not portable

PC
PROS:
- Powerful. Could reach 60+ fps (though 30 fps should be enough unless you get a hit and wanna future proof)
- Customizability
- less expensive on the long run
- Portable (for laptops)
- Could be used for other things not just gaming

CONS:
-very few average exclusives
-more susceptible to crashes and hardware failure

Do the math

The main difference between a gaming laptop and a desktop is the portability and laptops are more expensive than desktops. But, you'd already know that... Yea, and desktops are better customizable. You can't just yank things in and out of laptops

I still dey follow am. The should ve canceled the show seasons ago tbh. I dont know why ABC still persists with it.

Anyways, as for the topic, what matters first is ur preference, then ur budget.
Which would u really prefer? PC or console?

If Console, then go for it.

If PC then do u ve the funds for a good one?
If yes, which one would u like? Laptop or Desktop? Desktop if u have put down roots and are settled in a particular place. Laptop if u move around a lot or u generally just like the portability.
Once u've decided on Laptop or Desktop, then u can now make ur choice based on ur budget. U can get some good deals below $1000. But if u want something that can last for at least 4 years, then u have to stretch ur budget to around $1500.

If u don't have this much, just save urself the headache and jejely settle for console

Thanks man. With my little research and the opinions of others, I'll go for the PC. Though expensive, it will be worth the $$$ in the long run. grin

R u sure pc is less expensive on the log run.. Stop dat thing ooo, forget about d fact that lots of pc games are hacked early, both pc and console aaa games cost like 60 usd. Don't talk about sales done on steam, who wants to play games of 6 years ago or mini games.... Enlighten me...

Even if p4 is 2 months to end of its life, if u buy toks for 80k,least u would sell is 60k, pc love is a personal preference thing, console is d most logical choice in many ways.

If ps4 is 2 months to the end of its life and one has the money to get the next gen, it would be foolish to buy the ps4 unless somehow you can sell it for the same price you bought it. Also, if you really believe console is the most logical choice, you wouldn't still be holding on to your 1070 rig. You would have sold it.

No be so e easy to sell.. Ps4 is the hottest console ever in sales, gaming pc is like a 2008 BMW.. High performance, most features are higher than needed, ps4 is like 2008 Toyota, the exact features u need with less juice consumption, ask any dealer how long it takes to sell both cars...

Its the truth, most people just don't like admitting it, they love the bragging right and God factor. I've played game at 30 fps and 60 fps, diff isn't so much, some people will be shouting like it gives them erection..

It's less costly to upgrade a PC component than get a new console. Not to mention, bottlenecking is allowed as long as it'd play the damn game... Do the math. PC gaming is cheaper

Actually, 60 fps is noticeably different. It is a lot more fluid and very pleasing in comparison. But I can definitely play at 30 fps comfortably.

Some people can't. They claim it makes them sick and dizzy. Some say they can't bear anything less than 144 fps. Then there are those resolution freaks that can't play in resolution less than 2k. These are the kind of people I terribly dislike. They think themselves to be PC gods.

For me, gaming at 1080p 60 fps is more than enough.

Expecting the maths that makes it cheaper
P3. 150 usd
P4 220 to 400 (pro)
Decent laptop 1k2 usd
Desktop 800 usd
Note graphics card only recently dropped by 40 percent
Note If upgrading gtx 1060 like 300
Gtx 1070. 400-500
GTX 1080. 600-800
Rtx. About 1300 I think
How can you say it's cheaper to upgrade pc than get next gen console, mind you these are rough estimates

You're a little outdated. Check jumia and konga for latest prizes and then add shipping fees for the Amazon deals you'll see
Mind you 1050 can run majority of high-end games at medium to low render settings at 30+ fps
