That's the point they are missing?

You can't dictate weekly rental fee until you start providing cars on rental.

The Association you go ahead and buy cars, rent it out to its members for 20-25k a week.

At least it would finally discouraged car owners from asking for 35k a week. grin grin grin

You're forming association, yet you're not buying cars, where is the "PROFESSIONALISM".

Way forward, let Driver Partner buy cars outrightly from car owners or go to car dealers to buy cars then stop paying weekly rental.

25k to 30k is the best anyone should accept here

Uber and Taxify is already on its last leg of "crashing". One more further reckless insensible reduction in fares and kaboom, profitability is gone in flames.

All primary profit-sucking factors remain constant:
* Lagos traffic √
* Cost of repairs / maintenance √
* Uber/Taxify Commission √
* Bad / unmotorable roads √
* Docs Renewals (comp insurance, licenses etc) √
* wicked riders √

But the constant things about the Profit-making factor is
* Fares are on the decline
* Unreliable surge

This December might have brought some succor in terms of traffic reduction and constant surge, but in like a week's time when the New Year euphoria fizzles out and the tens of thousands of cars that went for village break are back in lagos, then crazy traffic will resume again. I wish I did more research before putting head. Well, that's a story for another day. But my own is, 2019 BAD investments must end sad! Bad energy bad investment, stay far away angry. By the end of 2019, the fence might be as long as Trump's border wall project grin

All of your Analysis is largely still based on a myopic view which is that of a driver on rentals who naturally would struggle to meet up the weekly rentals whereas most driver partners who own their cars somehow find a way to stay and keep on keeping on it would not be as bad as you pointed out above.For those on the fence...una well done...keep observing....

The fence isn't for everyone.

People on the fence are been bombarded with emails, SMS and calls from Uber. They want us back.

Like I said earlier, there are two side to the fence:

1. People on the Fence
2. People at the other side of the fence.

Whenever anyone join people on the fence, 3 people join the business and whenever anyone join people at the other side of the fence more people still join Uber and Taxify.

For us at the other side of the fence, the exit strategy was well timed. It is as if we saw the future when we are about starting the business and don't rejoice about people on the fence, they are busy re-organizing, re-strategize and re-maping their rule of engagement.

In the long run, except you adapt quickly and very flexible, you mightn't outrun some people currently on the fence.

People on the fence aren't sleeping, trust me they are busy resting, recharging, replanning, refreshing with plans of returning.

This is a marathon not a sprint. grin

interesting read so far. I am waiting to read from those working in other locations like Ibadan, Owerri and Benin. What is the experience like in these other locations?

From experience after taking over from previous manager. Personally the business is not bad at all .. People on the fence or majority of them didn't bother to maintain their cars. So either they got frustrated from spending excess on repairs, or their drivers couldn't no longer manage dead cars..

Hello house! Does anyone have any idea if Uber's Maryland office will be open tomorrow, being the 2nd of January? I intend to enroll on the platform since I am not doing anything and I have an eligible toks vehicle that could be used coming in soon. I already have a genuine license but my only challenge is my limited knowledge of lagos roads, I am very good at using google's map though. I literally have too much time on my hands and as a result, my mind turns to a 'devil's workshop' which makes me waste resources on useless adventures. I have been planning this for some months now. Tips wil be welcome from veterans here. My aim is to hustle for some months before quitting, I don't want to be idle for the mean time.
