one can replicate such act to symbolize anything as there is no commandment against it. The old law wasn't abolised but was made whole even Jesus didn't tell the Pharisees to stop following their Abrahamic principle but he showed them the fault in it and the problem their old laws couldn't solve. so if anyone follow those old laws ignoring the new laws of cheerful giving then he or she would be judged by that old law which wouldn't save him/her. so paying tithes and offerings do not make you a cheerful giver and do not express cheerful giving.
also using 10% as a personal benchmark help discipline people who are fund of giving too little but still it should be personal. And I know of someone who give first fruit to charity just because he likes it that way.

Nigerian pastors made me stop going to church yrs ago. At the time I usually go, I don't pay first fruit first this or that.

Go to Nigeria and see women using their God giving brain to serve and worship the so called pastors. If the respect they accord these mysogynists are ised on their husbands, even if their husbands are devils, they will have change of hearts.

1st fruits = 1 month
Tithes = 1.2 months

Total = 3 months salary gone
