We are not far off saying similar things. A good base defence also involves fortified positions without rusty equipment that fail to fire or broken down. Look at American and British bases in Afghanistan. You will be hard pressed to breach it. Put American or British troops in those death trap bases with equipment NA have and I tell you they will be overrun.

One if the first things will be ELEVATION.

That means you have elevated defensive / offensive observation position.

Not digging trenches like you are in WW2.

Situational observation KEY.

Offensive and Defensive contingency more proactive than reactionary.

A forward base will have concrete or earthen elevated walls around the inner circumfrence. As well as elevated walls throughout the perimeter.

Like me,I'm sure many here have learnt to avoid your posts......do have a lovely day.
There's nothing bad about what Babaowen posts. The Nigerian system is rotten and the politicians and military high command are not prepared to fix it.

You need to wake the fvck up! If the country collapses due to incompetence, corruption and ineptitude we all go down with it one way or the other, whether you live in Nigeria or abroad.

The many of you whom you claim avoids his posts are pitifully ignorant. I desire a military that is at-least as strong and as competent as that of Algeria. If it means we'll have to criticize the military until we get a professional, competent, well-equipped and disciplined force, so be it!!

I am forced to comment quietly.

It's not just training infact it more about INFRASTRUCTURE and that is ay evert level.

It reminds me of going to one our universities and some lecturer's were using notes and references that were decades old.

That's a genera mentality across government structures in Nigeria, do you think therefore that our armed forces are exempt.
it's embarrassing.

It's not a waste of money. Neither is it overrated.

It's the sort of asset we need since our country is imploding with violence all over. We can easily deploy them from the NE to the NW, NC and the Niger-Delta.

Since we can't keep our country in peace, a cheap asset to fly all over the country is our very best option.

NAF AIRCRAFT DESTROYS TERRORISTS’ MEETING VENUE NEAR BAGA

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed a building being used as meeting venue by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters near Baga in Northern Borno State. The attack was conducted yesterday, 1 January 2019, after series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirmed that the building was being used as an assembly point by the terrorists. Consequently, the ATF dispatched a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft to attack the building. A direct hit was recorded on the target leading to significant damage to the structure and neutralization of the occupants.

There is nothing bad in his post truly,of course most of these articles are online circulating. The Nigerian military and system is rotten;........... the military high command is not prepared to fix it, completely true. The NAF was shit years back and the army was far worst etc.

When incompetence and Corruption was at is peak in the military, people like hardly said or comment anything about it
Now claiming people are avoiding the his post and are pitifully ignorant might derail the thread, a trait which you yourself exhibit.

I will rather die than joining the Nigerian army.
I don see the Nigerian army abandoning one of their personnel that has bullets stuck in his body, though he was treated but the place was not fully healed cause the bullet was still stuck there...make I cut long story sha, I was part of the guys that took him to a village close to ijebu Igbo where this bullets was removed. It happened in early 2015, he was shot in 2014 while fighting boko haram... I saw the terrible condition the guy was in with my korokoro eyes.
Soldiers that the Nigerian army declare as MIA, I swear bro those MIA soldiers family didn't spend up to 3 months before they were kicked out of the barracks with just their properties, no compensation no nothing. This was between 2014 and 2015 o, I met a guy last year, his dad was also said to be MIA by the Nigerian army, since 2014 till now, one kobo never reach the family hand. The guy don travel go SA sha, he is from obudu in cross river.

WO!! Story plenty... Joining the Nigerian army especially as a recruit is just a waste of time/life
Well, I think you will discover that many of us here can say we have either witnessed military brutality or even been brutalized in one form or another. We are all Nigerians, and we know that our armed forces lack discipline and professionalism.

So believe me when I say I know where you are coming from. I remember displaying madness for some SARS officers grin , quite recently, I was so angry that I kept screaming "if you don't shoot me, then you are a bastard" grin The kind of anger that makes you start speaking pidgin, yoruba and queen's english at the same time cheesy cheesy I never thought I could be so angry as to throw caution to the wind and confront gun welding men, even me sef surprise. Later when I was thinking about the whole scene, I discovered that it was just anger and frustration, that doesn't say I should hate the entire organization because I personally know quite a number of good officers among them. The professional ones are usually of top rank, which signifies that it's a problem of recruitment and training.

So my point is, I understand if you detest the whole system out of experience, but always keep in mind that there are good men among them, a lot of good men sef. Heck, there are over a hundred thousand military personnel in Nigeria, how many have you or I personally seen to warrant a blanket appraisal of the entire force?, some of us who come from military families and visit the officers' mess and military golf courses occasionally will understand what I am saying(or those who grew up in the barracks). You will see soldiers who play football and complain about the government like any other civilian.

Its a pity because from your profile pix, I could have pegged you down for special forces material, now all that muscle is wasted grin Anyway, the system is shiit, but it isn't the fault of those who are dying to protect us, that is why we should always consider those people and repay their sacrifice with our support.

I think we should consider replacing the Nigerian military with a brand new Force built from scratch which would take all the positives of the Nigerian military and reject all it's negatives. Only the good personel of the current military would be able to cross over and when the Force is ready and tested. We disband the Nigerian military and use it's personnel to guard prisons and clean the streets and as pmcs. What do you think ?

Nobody takes your revisionism seriously. None of us was born yesterday, you can't just revise what happened before our very eyes. Stop playing politics if you want to be taken seriously. When Jonathan left he had reclaimed Baga, right now the army has lost Baga. Many of the equipments Jonathan bought for the military have changed hands since then. So basically Jonathan's exit level was better than the current level of things. Just stop pretending otherwise, it doesn't portray you in a good light at all.

Leave them make dem dey deceive themselves. See how backward that country is and we are singing self ululating songs. They got no idea. Let them go abroad and see what it means to run a country. It comes to a point you call it what it is and make your move. Nigeria is not a shithole but turned into one by its wicked rulers and by a large extent it's own people who will see the light but still choose darkness because of ethnicity and warped religious affinities. They don't get it. Nigeria that don't even know if they are existing. So backward.

Tell them the truth. Some of us are privy to what's going on and there are still a few good men from north to south who want to salvage the situation but must cover their backs cos the current government has been out to destroy any one opposed to its ineptitude. Look at them deceiving people with their disinformation.

it's embarrassing.

The country is being run aground and here we are with APC paid hacks setting up fake accounts here and elsewhere to further their disinformation campaign. Notice the monikers springing up here and on yours. If one truly loves this country you will be pained at what's going on yet so called "patriots" are here defending open incompetence. Our fellow combatants are dying for lack of real leadership and support. These are our brothers, friends, children, husbands, sisters, wives, uncles. It hurts and even more cos your hands are tied.

They even started eating their own. Look at Air Chief Marshall Badeh dishonored in full public glare and the kangaroo police job on it led by the most incompetent and irresponsible police chief the world has ever seen. You begin to miss people like Arase. Damian Chukwu or Edgal Imohi will do a better job but no it must be the Fulani Idris because they have rule.

Major Generals Irabor and Ezugwu and other crop of Generals will do a better job than the current Army Chief who clearly has run out of ideas having done his bit but yet retained. Air Marshall S. Abubakar will be a better CDS than the current Olonisakin but yet we get saddled with retrogression because of one man and every knows who that is and yet someone wants to tell me rubbish. Let a Nigerian deported from abroad catch you then you go know sey body dey pepper people.

Some of us ain't that stupid cos we know this people will eat you alive if you get caught opposing their misrule so yes one should have a plan B to evacuate.
