In this case the referee can't and would never be fair if the one who gave him the job is one of the players... No matter how we want to look at it this woman's appointment will only favour the presidency and the appointment isn't just fair
you forget that she was appointed by the drunkard in 2011 abi? Buhari contested in that same year and lost.
PDP should just come out clean and confess that they have nothing to offer Nigerians and stop this rubbish blame game

let's agree they have nothing to offer and APC has everything to give, why aren't the playing fair instead doing things that would raise tongues.

Goodluck Jonathan and PDP appointed Amina Zakaria as INEC commissioner and not Buhari. Amina Zakaria also supervised the 2011 elections where Goodluck Jonathan defeated Buhari. PDP should be more concerned with what Atiku is still doing in Dubai few weeks to the elections. Is this how to send Buhari /Jubrin to Daura?

Heard this too. Italian Pierluigi Collina is widely considered to be the best referee of all time. In his heyday if Italy for instance got to the finals of a world cup against Nigeria what do you think Nigeria or CAF if Mr. Collina was appointed to umpire the game.

Will FIFA say, "oh he is the best so we are sure he will be unbiased, carry on or if you don't like it withdraw from the match".
Or, FIFa will say, "well it is not our fault that Mr. Collina is this good, it was the IFFHS that has been promoting him and he is emminently qualified so...."
My understanding is, by doing that FIFA will only be undermining itself and putting its institution into disrepute evem before a ball has been kicked. As a matter of fact they wil not only go out of their way to make sure such a scenario never arises but investigate every possibility of compromise both in deed and in thought. They will make sure not only is the referee not from the same country but if possible not from the same continent as both contenders and will further make sure his country of origin was not knocked out by anyone of the finalists on their way to the finals... for what you may ask.

So that every decision of the referee is scrutinized for ONLY footballing reasons. That is an organisation that knows what INTEGRITY is called. And that is why it is respected. And that is why it prospers. The government must not only be doing what is morally right but be seen to be doing what is morally acceptable to all, and not just the 50 percentile its supporters accept.

Part of the plan of winning the election is fighting for the removal of amina zakari. If she is not removed, then every other party should quickly give up the election and inform INEC to just announce APC as winner of all the contested positions so that we will just know that we are running a one party system of government. It's not possible for you to be contesting a competition when you are the umpire and people will expect a fair judgement

He pointed out that the she had always been in INEC where she even acted as the Chairman of the commission after the exit of Prof. Attahiru Jega.

So, she's acted as the Chairman of the commission before sef...but she's not fit to be the head of the commission because she's from Sudan and the relative of Jubril from Sudan. grin grin

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged politicians and parties to focus more on how to realise their electoral goals in 2019 rather than paying attention to unnecessary issues.

The Lagos State Chairman of IPAC, Mallam Shakirudeen Olofin, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday.

Olofin was reacting to Thursday’s appointment of Mrs Amina Zakari by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its Head of Collation Centre for the 2019 elections and to the criticisms it generated in some quarters.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted Zakari’s appointment, saying it was a step by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to subvert the will of the people in 2019.

In a statement issued by the PDP spokesman, Mr Kola Ologbodiyan, on Thursday, the party alleged that Zakari was a blood relation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Zakari’s new role, the party alleged, was to protect the president’s interests in 2019.

Olofin, however, said that the criticisms that had trailed Zakari’s appointment were unneccessary and mere distractions.

He said politicians and parties should rather spend time perfecting their strategies on winning the general elections rather than being pre-occupied by issues that should not concern them.

“We think the criticisms and controversies that have trailed the appointment of Zakari are unnecessary because it is not within the powers of political parties to appoint people for INEC.

“In a football match, the teams do not decide or bother about who the referee is. It is never done. Rather, they focus on how to win the match.

“The parties should be more focused and leave all these distractions. They should be on the drawing board planning for victory. They should leave INEC and Zakari to do their jobs,” he said.

Furthermore, Olofin said it was unfair to claim Zakari got the appointment because she was the president’s blood relation.

He pointed out that the she had always been in INEC where she even acted as the Chairman of the commission after the exit of Prof. Attahiru Jega.

Olofin added that IPAC believed Zakari’s appointment was not an aberration as she had also headed the commission’s ICT Department, which, he said, was related to her new responsibility.

The IPAC chairman urged political stakeholders to co-operate with INEC to deliver credible elections and refrain from acts that could create tension ahead of the polls.

Olofin also advised all eligible voters to actively participate in the electoral process to ensure the emergence of leaders of their choice.

And that's why FIFA, UEFA, CAF, NFF etc do not appoint any official with a known link to a club to officiate a game the club is involved in.

As usual, party politics, ethnic and religious sentiments will fill the discussion instead of issues.
I don't know the role of the woman and the purpose of the committees Inec set up. Because I know the Inec chairman is returning officer for the presidential election, so he is automatically the chief collating officer. Until I know why the three committees are set up, I won't make an informed comments.
I can't let people that have all their close family members abroad, turn me to a robot who just jump on the band wagon. People who don't feel or know the pain of the common man, now turning the same common man to their spokesperson.
People just need to wake up and be wise, non of these people feel your pain.
