omonnakoda:I've grown weary of discussions that surround Ikwerre and a supposed Bini ancestry. Some people want to spend time writing their story and acting as though the Ikwerre didn't tell the British that Ochichi's lineage migrated from what is now Ozuzu in Echie. This supposed Bini ancestry tale has undergone a number of revisions since the 1970s and it was not until recently that Ochichi got included in this Bini ancestry story. Prior to this, the Bini ancestry story only mentioned Akalaka and Ihruoha (Iwhnurnohna), but they were not given much weight, because the core Ikwerre oral tradition recognizes Ochichi, which the Bini story never had. So, it was revised and Ochichi was called a "half-brother" to Akalaka. The Bini story claims Ochichi to have migrated from Bini with Akalaka, which is at odds with the core Ikwerre oral tradition which recognizes Ochichi as having migrated from the opposite direction; Echie. Ihruoha went from being a son of Akalaka to a son of Ochichi, just so the Bini story can be reconciled with the core Ikwerre oral tradition. Everything else in that write-up is just wow. Changing Evo (Evno) to Evbo, contorting Obia to Opia, knowing fully well no Ikwerre, Echie or Ngwa person pronounces Iwhnurnohna as Ighoroha, and ultimately attempting to make a point by grouping Igbo as descendants of Nri (which is a boldfaced lie). This write-up is basically propaganda. |
