I am not Dino's fan and I will never be one, these police charges against him are weak that a fresher from the law school or a charge -and- bail lawyer should be able to defend Melaye in court and get freedom for him. So there is a very stupid comparison going on about how Kemi Adeosun the worst finance minister this country has seen ever resigning when her NYSC forgery saga happened. They say the Yorubas did not blow hot when she was sacked why should the south south or south east complain now about their own. I now more than ever believe that there are indeed foreign marabouts positioned round this country invoking confusion on these people.

Lets analyse the two situation. KEMI knew her certificate was forged because she was confronted with it but she compromised to keep it silent so she can be minister. When the kasala happened, she was quiet for a long time before the stupid excuse about her not knowing. Took the government close to 3 months or so the let her go, and instead of prosecuting her or handing her over to the relevant authorities, she was quickly escorted to the airport and she escaped out of the country. The government went back to propaganda like nothing happened. Justice Onoghen on the other hand has done his assets declaration which should last till 2020 before a new one is done, opened a dom account after the declaration and thought he will only have to declare that when next he updates his assets declaration. On the 9th a petition was brought, 10th govt reviewed it, 11th he has already been declared a criminal who should resign and go face a Code of Conduct tribunal, same one they did not ask Kemi to go to. How convenient.

If you do not see the script here you are STUPID! (No apologies). This is the only play here to destabilise the judiciary, or plant a pawn who will be of interest to the government in twisting justice. There has been a gradual plot to put everything in place to make sure what happened to GEJ does not happen here this election. The Nigeria Police Force has filed a charge against Kogi West lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, for alleged illegal weapons possession.

In the charge, which has been filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the police said a pump-action gun was recovered from Melaye’s house in July last year during a search of his property in Kogi State.

In the charge, marked, FHC/ABJ/CR/07/2019, the police said the offence contravened Section 27 of the Firearms Act.

The charge sheet reads, “That you, Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West district in the 8th National Assembly, on or about the 20th day of July 2018, at about 12.30 hours under the jurisdiction of this honourable court, unlawfully had in your possession one automatic pump-action shotgun and 20 cartridges, which were recovered at your residence located in the Ayetoro Gbede area of Kogi State, when a search warrant was executed on the directives of the Nigeria Police Force at your above mentioned residence under your control and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(a)(i) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

The police also listed eight persons as witnesses.

The witnesses comprise six policemen and two men who were painting Melaye’s house when the policemen came to search the property.

They were identified as DSP Babagana Bukar, DSP Ibrahim Abalaka, ASP Abdullahi Musa, Inspector Atabo Okpanachi, Inspector Apeh Peter, Theophilus Nuhu, Matthew Anthony and ASP Mohammed Onu.

According to the statements made by all the witnesses and attached to the charge sheet, the gun was found not in the main building but the ‘boys’ quarters’ where cars were parked.

One of the painters, Theophilus Nuhu, wrote, “On July 24, 2018, my master, Peter, brought one Matthew Anthony and myself from Kaduna State to Kogi for painting work in which he took us to one Senator Dino Melaye’s house at Ayetoro, Gbede area of Kogi State.

“While we were doing the painting, policemen, comprising MOPOL, SARS and SCID, came in and met us in the compound and they told me they wanted to conduct a search in the compound and they started to search the compound.

“Within and around the boys’ quarters building, where some cars were parked, under the flower, a gun was observed therewith many bullets but I do not know who put the gun there.”

Even if it was found under his matrimonial bed, a wailer as you wouldn't believe a sitting senator kept a gun under the bed, it should have been underground or in the cupboard. A sitting senator should have his house under watch using surveillance camera. He should come out with the clips to prove his innocence.
