If Proforce can figure out a way to manufacture a less bulky and more tactical version of this vehicle still based on the Toyota Hilux while retaining its armor, I don’t see any reason why NA won’t order a thousand.

As long as they are very manoveravle, slightly armored and can mount a heavy machine gun 12.7mm-14

The new ISWAP video is very terrible. The terrorists were so swift with overwhelming force. Nigerian troops had no fighting chance.

If good Nigerian men and women weren’t dying up north, a thing of jest and laughter could be conjured up in the thought that Nigeria is being sold off under our feet. What with Buhari letting the Americans and Chinese cart away the Family uranium and Bokoharam taking on the superiority of National army and Nigerian army the inferiority of the rag tag force. undecided

During my boyhood days, coach used to bark, 'don’t just hit the bag, punch through it! Imagine you’re atempting to ring a bell hanging on the other side of the punching bag. It is the adage of conquering a small task by training for a larger task. If Nigeria is convinced the problem is local, it mightn’t be a bad idea investing in the military with the doctrine that we are going to fight the rest of West Africa that is covertly backed by foreign interest.

Bokoharam will not stop attacking Rann until the FG/Army create a standardized base. Rann is too open and easy for any attack.

Bokoharam will surely want to cart enough weapons there before the raining season because once its raining there is no more access to Rann for three months.

Bokoharam for try Gamboru Ngala if body no go tell them.

I miss Rann

Boko haram attacked bama, and they were in control of bama for close to a week. Is gamboru ngala more secured than bama? Just pray you won't get caught up at the wrong place.

Don’t know if we are suffering a crises of confidence, nagged consistently by the rest of the world, in essence, that, for a people after all only blacks, we are too arrogant. Buhari declared at the outset, he would make humbleness his abiding principle in addition to fighting corruption. I don’t know, but it seems to me we have become an apologetic people, a people happiest when putting ourselves down to comfort others. Nigeria will continue to face these banana republic challenges of insurrections, banditry, and incursions into territory by neighbouring nation unless we become actually arrogant. We need to Militarily dominate as much of the African space as we can. If we are adhering to some Western advices-come-threat that we should not develop the military to a level where the neighbours feel threatened, we need to discard all that. With our size and potential, the concept of maintaining a balance of power in the neighbourhood is ridiculous. As a Nation, we’ll be safer and less prone to future challenges of the bokoharam and militants sort if we are militarily dominant and our reach able take out the leadership of West African nations at a stroke and our Neighbours know this to be the case.

Damn! I just watched the new BHT vid release. My conclusion is that we are disoriented at the frontlines. Nigerian Army are on the backfoot in a lot of these firefights.
Whatever BHTs are doing, it is working well for them. Either Buratai gets his acts together or he should be bloody sacked. These soldiers being wasted have families too now. I really hate that we have a general as the president and he is so oblivious to this failings.
Damn!!!! Our boys stood zero chance against these BHTs when they attack as swift as that. I can safely conclude that the current Army heads are clueless.

Watched over 6 minutes of technicals and AA guns completely uprooting the defences of the NIGERIAN BLOODY ARMY. A whole country's army being dealt a bloody nose by a rag tag army. Our leaders will never prosper for the way they misuse funds and embezzle them. Nothing stops these bases from having a T72 each with a lot of MRAPs at strategic defensive positions.

And whats the point in sitting in a position like a lame duck without situational awareness that will make 20 BHT techs to encircle a unit and completely over run it. Are we sure we know what we're doing?

That video just showed boko using basic infantry fire & movement, its a shame that 4yrs into Op Lafiya Dole we've not learnt (1)How to neutralize their technicals (2) How to set up FOBs (3) To plan for these things

sorry to say but loosing some battles does not mean u hv lost the war. Most of all this propaganda video happen wen they attack some battalions. Nigerians r very impatient people if i must say. Its quite unfortunate that armed bandit r terrorizing sokoto n zamfara if not kudos to the NA for isolating iswap to only borno. I can authoritatively tell u that if (a big if) buhari win a 2nd term iswap will be decimated. When buhari said boko was technically defeated he was trying to score political points which is very bad. I repeat no army in Africa is better trained than the NA in guerilla tactic. Borno is a very large state, n up till now boko haram still hv sympathizers. If the US army come over here to fight iswap they is succed by bombing the whole area which we r trying to to avoid because civilians r still plenty in the area.
So please try n use logic when watching most of those videos cus they r just propaganda.
In every war both side loses n its quite unfortunate that we hv lost some of our soldiers. We know what we signed up for.
.
The only thing civilians can do for the NA is to pray for us.
Funny how yall r quick to believe propaganda videos most of those videos r not the reality on down in Borno.

First question, are you serving?

This your spirited defence still doesn't hide the fact that that base in that video was overrun. Stating otherwise would be lies & godforbid we fool ourselves.

I have followed this party since the hot days of 2013 and I am past blind praises or patriotism.
Please Sir, we must identify where the stench is coming from and not blame the garbage truck that passed last night.
We are fucking up, bases shouldn't be lost, its unacceptable. I know propaganda, that video might be one but it shows a humbling reality nonetheless

On this thread we hail the battalions that give boko a bloody nose & express our disappointment at those that fall below the standards their own comrades has set.

I am not impatient, I only hold the Army to the standards they once set.

There is something fundamentally wrong with us. Some here are saying it's ISWAP propaganda, but to say the truth, for the dead soldiers and those in the North East that's their reality.I felt goose bumps at the fourth video. Damn! I feel for those guys, war isn't a child's play, mehn.I wonder where the courage comes from in facing those BH virgin hunting bastards, knowing that more could be done to annihilate them in no time. With utmost respect I salute you guys courage. These attacks are audacious and in full daylight, no fear for any repercussions. Wondering why the army can't buy systems like the bmpt terminator and get planes that could be quickly scrambled for close air support. They are waiting until when to get the Tucanos. This war is a clear and present danger. I guess since they are cozied up somewhere as usual they don't care.

You see wounded Nigerian soldiers and tons of stolen equipment and stolen weapons, RPG's etc and some people are claiming the base was not overrun.
Blind patriotism will not helpthe Nigerian Army.
We have to ask pertinent questions about their base defense teachings and tactics.
BHT have used the same modus operandi again and again to overrun military bases in the north.
After almost 10 years of insurgency, The Nigerian army still has no response to this.
No fire base support.
No fast helicopter QRF troop support.
No proper base defence and comms alert.
No mines laid at vulnerable areas of the base.
No trigger system of responding quickly that ensures that boko haram understand that anytime they attack a forwardbase, they are bound to be decimated.
No regular trainings for base attacks
.

Hence whenever boko haram arrives they all run away.
Look at all the grenades! They didn't even throw half of them at bokoharam b4 running away
Look at the equipment boko haram came with, you cant tellme they are better equipped than the Nigerian army.
The list goes on and on....
Their is a political game being played in the North.
They want this insurgency to never end because it is lining the pockets of key northern government and military officials.

This is a more intelligent reaction than saying Boko Haram moved fast and attacked with precision. All that were permitted to them by the stupid siting of the bases and lack of rudimentary analysis of possible attack modes.

The Nigeria Army used applied local police station mentality in sitting up these FOBs. They should have been established around hills and other normal geographic defences. Also, poorly placed observatories and obviously not enough runners or scouts deployed. The top brass obviously did not release funds for proper defences like Hesco sand bags. It was a catalogue of little failures.

According to their website, it is AK-47 resistant as is.

http://proforcedefence.com/armoured-toyota-hilux-apc/

I suggest maintaining the same armour package while making the rear capsule "convertible".
This puts the roof at the same height with the cabin and creates the opportunity for mounting anything from 2 x 0.50 HMG up to 1,x 81 mm mortar.
It would make it IMO a better protected and more rugged WMIK.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Wolf

Finally, we should have a long term (10+years) annual fixed sum contract with Steyr, PAN, Inosson and Proforce for production of new vehicles and maintenance of existing fleet.

Nigeria’s military recaptured the northeastern town of Rann yesterday after it was overrun by Islamic State West Africa (ISWA) insurgents a day earlier, weeks ahead of an election in which security has become a key campaign issue.

This is coming as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Monday evening attack on Rann by Boko Haram caused many to flee the town.

Nigerian government forces and residents fled during the ISWA attack as the militants set buildings ablaze, but troops fought back and regained control of Rann yesterday, agency reports quoted military and police sources as saying.

“Boko Haram invaded Rann at about 4 p.m (on Monday). The battle continued for about three hours. Our troops retreated and later returned to fight back,” said a soldier who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity.

President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015 on promises to defeat the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency aimed at creating an Islamic state in the northeast.

ISWA, which split from Boko Haram in 2016, has launched a series of attacks in recent weeks, renewing debate about security in the run-up to elections on Feb. 16.

In December, ISWA took the town of Baga – the Nigerian headquarters of a multi-national force formed by Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger to fight the extremists – and more than 30,000 people fled.

The military launched a counter-offensive last week and retook the town, saying it had given ISWA a “bloody nose”.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said attack on Rann by Boko Haram caused many to flee the town.

A signed statement by the North East Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Alhaji Saidu Minin said: “An attack in Rann, some 175 kilometres (110 miles) northeast of the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, forced civilians to flee.”

He said Rann was hosting around 35,000 internally displaced people (IDPs), according to the International Organisation for Migration.

He recalled that Rann had been repeatedly hit by insurgents attacks, which exacerbated the already dire humanitarian conditions on the ground. Minin said report revealed that the military base in the town was burnt by the terrorists, with locals and IDPs fleeing as the Islamist militants set fire on camps and shelters.

He said “aid workers in Maiduguri said colleagues in Rann blamed ISWAP for the raid and people fled towards Bulale, on the Cameroon side of the border.

“Four IDPs were allegedly killed. Several shelters were burned. They also looted food supplies in the town. Humanitarian operations in Rann were scaled down in March last year after an attack which killed three aid workers,” Minin said.

Na wa o.

I just watched those videos and my heart bleeds.

How have the Nigerian Army still not learnt to create kill zones for the enemy on their own bases?
Instead we are creating death traps.

The captured Nissan guntruck, was their no gunner on the turret or no ammo or what happened?
Never fired a shot in anger from what we saw.

All the ammo and explosives that were captured, was there no chain of command to ensure deployment or destruction?
Now they serve as enemy stores, quartermastered by the Nigerian people.

I speak as a hurting but proud and loyal Nigerian when I say that the performance of the Nigerian military in this war has been downright underwhelming and below par.
It appears the lure of 72 virgins (traitors) and the dollar (corruption) has dimmed the fire of battle in certain disloyal parts our command structure.

I grew up seeing men like Gens. Abacha,Khobe,Garba,Malu,Ogomudia and too many others quash insurrection of varying forms with ease.

Sure, guerrilla warfare lingers, but at least it improves over time.
It can even be crushed decisively, as Sri Lankans and Algerians will tell us.

So why is our case different?
Why are we letting our finest die like we have a factory somewhere?
Why are we letting our country be so disgraced like this?
Why are our generals falling our hands like this?

Every year, the number of Nigerians celebrating the military reduces as apathy increases.
Yet we shed more blood due to this under performance that causes said apathy.
Forget the talk of civilian brutality, we all grew up used to it although this is very wrong.

High command need to wake the fvck up and do something, starting from the Villa.

oga I watched all the videos and from what I deduced,it was nothing but an edited trailer.
They might have pulled some certain stunts but believe u me that video isn't exactly what went down at that arena .
I even saw a helicopter hovering in one of the episodes, the iswap guy aimed an AA at the helicopter.
I bet u he couldn't aim correctly at the bird neither did they shot it,and that very helicopter I can bet my life savings rained hell in them.I guess they didn't deem it fit to show the full clips scenario.

Or were you expecting to watch a video propaganda showcasing casualties on their own side.
They executing one or two troops is nothing but casualties of war.
All I saw in those videos are nothing but rag tag psycophants seeking attention by every means to remain relevant.
Ain't moved by the video either.
