A young and gallant soldier has been killed while fighting Boko Haram insurgents at the battlefield in the northern part of Nigeria.

The soldier identified as Joel Miles, was killed recently in line of duty while purportedly making plans to travel abroad.

A close friend of the slain soldier, shared a chat they had before his death, which revealed that he had been in the bush/battlefield for three years.

The soldier who said he's tired of his job, reportedly claimed that all his colleagues whom he arrived the post with - are dead.

His corpse has been recovered and is set to be buried soon. May his soul rest in peace.

Majority of Nigerians seem to be insulated from what is happening in the North East. It's a shame that all this is happening without without any consequence to the people that hold sway. We as a people have really lost our humanity. We have sunk to an abyss that's hard to be explained, maybe tough to come out from.Burning issues are being trivialised and made political by the people that are supposed to hold the current leadership accountable. There's nothing to do now but to pray for all these young men dead or alive. May God continue to help them and everyone. It's really saddening.
