What’s the worst that could happen right?

Well, for starters you will make a big fool of yourself.
Worse, you get a bad review.

Yep, bad review. And, it’s game over.

You go back to your corporate job, stuck there for another 20 years.

Only apply to jobs you are confident you can deliver on.

Or jobs, where if you lack the skills, you can easily problem solve/pick up. Say, by ‘googling’ it.

When you’re just starting out I recommend just sticking to skills you have.

More importantly, underpromise and overdeliver.

Please, go way beyond for your client. Do a job so good that they’re blown away.

If they’re expecting just a shoe. Give them a shoe and a FREE pair of socks.

Value stack.

You want to do this so that you improve your chances of the client referring you, leaving you a 5 star review and coming back with more rewarding jobs.

You can’t take a shortcut here. Rub your hands together, take a deep breath and go to work.

Do those two things and you could be earning $1000 dollars per month in your first year.

Here’s how I did it and the 1-2-3 step formula I came up with.

Yes, you read that right.

If you are just starting out or have few jobs under your belt and you bid or apply for high paying jobs you are jumping the gun.

Because, you don’t have the credibility and social proof in the way of glowing reviews and jobs completed. Nobody is going to award you a $3000 job with 0 reviews and 0 jobs completed.

Start out the $5 jobs. The tenners.

You shouldn’t be optimizing for earnings in your first few months. Rather, you should concentrate on building up a portfolio, honing your skill and getting glowing reviews.

You need to lay the foundation and groundwork that you can leverage on later.

The way you snowball your earnings from $0 your first month to $1000 in your seventh is to build up relevant portfolio pieces for future higher paying jobs.

Another advantage of going this route is, it requires less trust from the client. For a new account, this is a blessing.

You don’t need to have any trust signal granted you have a good proposal and a competent Bio.

This results in more responses and clients perceiving you as an expert and paying you your worth.

At this stage:

You start playing in the big leagues.

So, to recap.

Start with low paying jobs. Yes, I literally mean $5.
After every completed job, go double your hourly rate.
When you fee you are ready to ramp it up, go start applying to higher paying gigs.
