The rate of scamming is very high in Nigeria. Is scamming cultural in Nigeria. I try my best to be nice to my fellow nigerians but any attempt to be nice and friendly whether in normal environment or in business always lead to someone trying to scam me.

For the scammer he thinks he is a sharp guy until i involve the police and this so called sharp guy starts behaving like a sissy.

Why do nigerians love scamming?

Check nairaland, instagram and facebook. You must see some nigerian begging and scamming.

Everyday someone is sharing account and inventing unreal problems for people to send money to.

Blame is on unemployment, poverty and corrupt leaders in power. Nigeria is an evil country no doubt, but there are still some nice and genuinely sincere people here.

Sir,
I hope you don't mind if I bring you over here on your very own thread....that way if I derail it, you can stop me.
I'm relaxed sir...
You were speaking about me, so that is why I replied.
I was shocked that you thought it may have been me, but I'm glad that I happened to have read that thread and saw your post....although I have read through some of your posts on other threads.
I must say that your moniker makes me very uncomfortable I might say...it's just too much.
I wish you could change it...please.
Ummm...well...this your thread is interesting and kinda correlates to the thread over in the other section.
The OP was saying that he didn't like the boundaries that the alleged Nigerian lady in the U.S. had set and then labeled her a "feminist".
Perhaps Nigerians have a different idea of what a "feminist" is...but in my opinion, a woman setting boundaries of no "sex chat", "nude photos", asking for money, etc...does NOT a feminist make.
It actually helps shield vulnerable women from potential scammers or users.
It's actually wise...to let folks know "upfront" what one expects.
Like you for instance.
You are looking for sexually promiscous African-American women (preferably) to have fun sex chats with...or Nigerian women as well....hmmmm.
Obviously, I cannot answer your ad because I'm not "loose" and I am trying to live a righteous and honorable life to my Savior, so I say, "thanks, but no thanks"...and I move on.
Same way a guy should be towards a woman who sets boundaries that he cannot accept....
Correct?
Who are the women pioneers of NL that live in the U.S.? Are they Nigerian or Black American?
I wasn't clear about that.
Also he said the "lady" he was chatting with, was Nigerian from Abia state...but allegedly living in the U.S.
My dad's people are not from Abia..
I think that you skipped over a whole lot of details in the beginning of his post that would have surely cancelled me out.

about my moniker, i can't change it because of you. it is perfect and that is what I want, you will often see it sometimes, so get use to it.

For the OP to label her a feminist, I think because some of her traits showed characteristics of some of our Nigerian so-called online feminists.

i have no problems with a woman setting boundaries but also she has to realistic, what is the essence of communications if everything is filled with rules and regulations, i love breaking rules, so that won't work with me, i hate limitations. life was given for us to explore and be limitless.that is how people find themselves. boundaries don't shield vulnerable women from scammers basically it destroys communication and keeping everyone from asking real questions. asking for nudes and sex chats to me is normal in a situation where there is no backstabbing and they both comfortable about it, after all, i am not a pastor rather am i a castrated monk, I am a full-blooded guy with blood running down my veins. my only problem is when a guy blackmails or starts asking for money from a lady, then he needs to be called out afap.

I am not looking for sexually promiscuous African-American/ Nigerian women, I am looking for a woman who is not shy to express herself sexually and intelligently. what is wrong with that. A promiscuous woman has multiple partners and I am not interested in that type of person. what I want is someone who can express herself with me. simple as ABC, anyway, you won't know the difference since you are married to jesus. you dont have to be loose to answer my ad and what is with this "I am trying to live a righteous and honourable life to my Savior" i don't understand it, so are you telling me, you dont think about sex?

the woman pioneers of the Social justice warriors and feminists group on NL are some Nigerian and African-American women living in the US, they think women are oppressed in Nigeria and Africa but anyway, nobody cares about their opinions because everything they do is to throw abuse, I have never seen any of them with facts, research supporting their facts so in my opinion, they are dumb. No man needs a muscular female by his side.

Well, that's unfortunate.
I think people would take you more seriously if you had a more appropriate moniker...with all due respect.

See that's what I'm not understanding...
What is the average Nigerian man's definition of a "feminist"?

Wow..so you love being a "rebel without a cause"?
You love being an "outlaw"?
Yikes....
So you live for chaos and drama?

What is "realistic" for you?
So boundaries don't shield women from potential scammers? Really? Umm...ok.
So how are women supposed to be wise?
How are they to protevt themselves?
What about dealing with this here your topic on "scamming"?
List some ways for women online to protect themselves against scammers.

So why do you preferably want an African-American woman? Why do you need to do the sex chat online?
I'm sure Nigeria has "0" shortage of women...having a population of 180-200 million.
How does me showing my private parts help develop and sustain a respectful relationship?
Why not devrlop a friendship with a woman, see how things go, then if all's well take it to the next level and then get married?

Yes...I am a heterosexual woman created with all the mechanisms& desires that God created me to have.
In fact, I think it's safe to say that every human on the planet has been created the same....UNLESS some abnormality exists.
I have not been called to be a "nun"...but I dare say that even those women have struggles at times.
We already know that several Catholic priests are having tremendous difficulties-based on the widespread pedophilia occurring within the church (and really need to be allowed to marry).
But those desires that I or anyone may have, have to be properly harnassed in the right context...meaning marriage...that is for those who hold a particular belief.
However, even statistics show that marriage has the utmost benefits for people (regardless of religion).

See I know Africa (as a whole) is a patriarchal continent. However, there is a lack of balance.
Believe it or not, but I don't happen to believe that women can do every job that a man can...perhaps mentally & intellectually....but not physically.
I happen to love being a woman...
I can't imagine being a man ever..
But I think the Nigerian women want to be acknowledged as respectable human beings.
The society does seem very oppressive...in some ways.
Look, I get it. I have a patriarchal Nigerian dad who's "set in his ways" about certain topics. I couldn't change his mind if I wanted to...no matter what I say...he isn't changing.
He can be very tough...so I'm used to it.

But to dismiss a woman because she has an opinion about something, is totally wrong. I think that is what the woman are saying.

P.S. Sorry so long...i do talk & type a lot.
I know some folks in the Religion section may find it wrong for me to be chatting with you, but I look at you as no different than if I was chatting with a person in public. Although I need to be wise, I am not too pompous to chat with all people smiley

this is gonna be a long reply.

I am sure, you are more concern about what people from the religious section think about you instead of what you think about yourself, think about this "The less you give a damn, the happier you will be"

as a Nigerian guy, a Nigeria feminist is someone who basically wants the man role without working for it, in my opinion, if she wants men to respect her, she should act accordingly in the public, dress and behave well. if a woman wants equal pay, then she should bring the same effort as the man to the table, there are researches that show that men work overtime and take more risk than a woman. the more risk a man takes in the workplace, the more his pay increase.

i am not a rebel without a cause, being a rebel is fun and exciting, not boring, the ability to think outside the box, speak your mind, to stand alone even in the times of total opposition and betrayal, nothing more interesting than that. I don't live for chaos and drama, I live for change.

yes, i still stand with my word, boundaries just basically make the whole situation boring, you also have the choice to say no or yes when in crazy situations, i am not an expert in scam protection but i know for sure that women can protect themselves from scam by being inquisitive and doing research about a potential person.

let me just give you a clue:

1-You meet someone online and after just a few contacts they profess strong feelings for you, and ask to chat with you privately
2-After gaining your trust – often waiting weeks, months or even years – they tell you an elaborate story and ask for money, gifts or your bank account/credit card details.
3-Their messages are often escalated quickly from an introduction to love.
4-If you don’t send money straight away, their messages and calls become more desperate, persistent or direct. If you do send money, they continue to ask you to send more.
5-They may take months to build what may feel like the romance of a lifetime and may even pretend to book flights to visit you, but never actually come.
6-Often the scammer will pretend to need the money for some sort of personal emergency. For example, they may claim to have a severely ill family member who requires immediate medical attention such as an expensive operation, or they may claim financial hardship due to an unfortunate run of bad luck such as a failed business or mugging in the street. The scammer may also claim they want to travel to visit you, but cannot afford it unless you are able to lend them money to cover flights or other travel expenses.

How to protect yourself

1-Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person.Be wary of requests for money. Never send money or give credit card details, online account details, or copies of important personal documents to anyone you don’t know or trust.
2-Do an image search of your admirer to help determine if they really are who they say they are. To determine if the picture of the person is real or just a stock photo, run it through Google or TinEye.com. it will show you every place on the internet where a particular photo appears, and will even let you track where they show up in the future.
3-Be alert to things like inconsistencies in their stories and others signs that it’s a scam like their camera never working if you want to Skype each other.
4-Be cautious when sharing personal pictures or videos with prospective partners, especially if you’ve never met them before. Scammers are known to blackmail their targets using compromising material.

My love for African-American women has to do with grooming, ability to express herself, accent and a more worldwide view, We have some of this type of women in Nigeria but they are few.I am not against developing friendship with a woman but i have to be direct so that you know where I stand. i don't believe in marriage, i prefer having a partner basically what marriage does is to limit an individual emotionally and mentally. and about sending a private part pic, it is not a one-way affair, sexting also increases bonding and in fact make a woman feel wanted.i like my woman been slutty sometimes for me.

yes it is true that Africa is a patriarchal continent but nobody is stopping a woman from being what ever she wants to be, to say there is a lack of balance is false, women in Africa amass enough power in the home, they are the masters of many decisions in the home which basically can be seen in the society, we boys were trained by our mothers while our father provide, we are sometimes are a reflection of our mother upbringing, to say the women in Africa are disrespected is false.the reality is present-day Nigerian woman do not know the power they amass, they just copy everything the western present-day feminist do without understanding our cultural settings and behaviours

maybe women are not in public spaces but that is not because of men but because of what women set out to achieve,i studied with some women in the university, even in school they all struggled to get good result, most of them were average, now out of the 13 women that graduated with the boys only 3 wanted to achieve their educational dreams first, the rest went on to marriage and became housewives, in my opinion, that was a waste of school fees, she couldn't impact society, is it the fault of men that she choose to go the other way, NO but the present Nigerian feminist blame the man for these.

We have lot of women doing great in Nigeria, some of them run businesses and government departments, those women took responsibility into their hands, they navigated the systems, created friendship with men and they move up the leader without selling their body part, when a man know you are a rare asset, he wont allow you to go away but when he sees you as a liability, he will get a taste of you and move on.

Most present-day Nigerian feminist blame the man for everything and also most do not have a good Nigerian role model, i advise them to read stories of great Nigerian women who actually did great things in Nigeria.

I need you to tell me with facts how repressive is our society is to women. for all i know women are the one oppressive and rude to one another
i am not dismissing their opinion but rather, I want them to come with facts to the table. i work with facts rather than bags of emtions and abuse

feminism is creating an imbalance in society, it leads to a high rate of single mothers, these single mothers will eventually be poor and be dependent if they can't find a job, if these single mothers die, who will take care of their children, most of these children will grow up with lack of care and becomes dangerous to society.

The reason there is a high rate of single mothers in the Nigerian society despite all the marrying Nigerians do is because the average Nigerian bred male does not live long anyway. Average life expectancy for Nigerians in Nigeria is really low. So at the end of the day, we have all these married women whose husbands are dead and as such these women are single mothers. This has nothing to do with feminism really.

This is a core example of stuff some of the Nigerian feminists write, no facts, just abuse and emotional outburst. what a misandrist

dude, did you read what i wrote down and what you wrote down, where did i talk about Nigeria in the writing you quoted

in respect to Nigeria, feminism and liberalism is the leading cause of baby mama syndrome among young Nigeria women and not your imaginary reason
