These mostly are on the jack that enter into your smartphone or music devices. Mostly they are white or dark rings that might look like something meant for decoration. They serve the purpose of protecting the wire that transmits sound to the headphones or earpiece. They are usually two to three rings, one for the left headphone/earpiece and the other for the right and the last is neutral.

In order words, those stripes act as insulators, each one of the white or black band is a contact for a certain wire. One will be left speaker, one will be right speaker, one will be the microphone, and one will be the ground wire. The stripes keep the wires insulated from one another.

Your big grammar ok Sha,but my people, the purpose of those stripes is to separate the terminals so that they don't touch each other. They are usually 3 or 4, for 3 you have 2 positive (1 for left speaker 2nd for right speaker) while 3rd for negetive. If it has a 4th, then it's for the mic fullstop

nope, most problems are from wire joint to plug, the mic/volume area or the speaker in the earpiece.

look for another earpiece with bad speakers, just cut the jack as a good length and connect it to your own using the wire different colors as guide, i.e match each color with its corresponding colour in the other wire after you have cut your own original jack...

P.S- light a match stick in order to peel off the insulator, anyway I stopped repairing earpiece sometimes ago after I advice my self to stop that act cos I don too do am

most of these earpiece wires are always covered with something like nylon to prevent them from touching eachother, so if you connect it that way it won't work until u use something like fire to burn that tip u want to join together and use ur hand to peel it off

A little bit of correction there. one is for the left speaker, another is for the right speaker. one is for mono. and the last one is for stereo. adding all together, you get the left signal, right signal, mono signal and stereo signal.

If you notice, the configuration is same for both earpieces with mic and those without mics.

Why not?? I've been repairing my earpiece for more that 13years now. .
Repairin don easy now; back then the GND was not insulated and the L and R na one red insulated strip; very easy to break. .

that's because the GND is the biggest metal ring in java phones, while the second ring is for mic; buh in MOST android it's the opposite. . So go make it work yhu have to bridge dem together using small piece of wire
