Please Help Me Make A Choice. by Essont(m): 12:37am On Jan 22, 2019
Hi guys, i am a young graduate and an online entrepreneur and i am capable of serving N100k + monthly, Currently i am at a budget of N500k to purchase my first car, I will be using this car for interstate journeys. I have the following choices you can review them and possibly recommend even more for me.

Honda CRV 1998 - 2000
Mercedes-Benz C200 1999 - 2000
Honda civic 2000 - 2006
Ford focus 2003
Peugeot 307/406 2000 - 2003
Volkswagen passat 2000 - 2003

All the above cars should be with manual transmission and were chosen with fuel economy into consideration.

Please how good are they or any other recommendations?

Thank you all for the anticipated support.

Guys I truly appreciate all your advice, noting that the above mentioned cars are Nigerian used, What about the CRV, i noticed no body has stated anything about it, considering it is an SUV which will all for more trunk space in-case of extra loads

thank you for the anticipated response.

CRV is good but don't buy that model, I will suggest 2003 -2004 model. That model you mention is not my choice because of not getting pristine engine and tendency of leg pull out.

Thanks for the insight, i actually was thinking the leg issue is more peculiar with the accords not the civics and SUVs.

Clean Nigerian used Mercedes C200k are difficult to come buy, at my budget range only but the 1998 - 2001 of the CR-V models are available. The Civic, i am prospecting one 2006 model but the saler is headbent to 650k.

Please any other great recommendations? Or can you point me to a clean MB C180, C200, C230 of 2000 model at least (I was told of how economic and reliable they are).

Thank you so much sir.

When i was searching for Honda CRV, i came across one with manual transmission for 600K and good one, but got another offer with one year used and costly. So if you don't mind to go for CRV, then you will get one at 600K for 2003- 2004

Though personally i will love and prefer the MB 2000 models manual, Nigerian use, but if i can find a 2003-2004 CRV manual @600K.... My wouldn't mind at all.
The civic, i have heard a lots of great reports about them too on fuel economy.

I am still researching though and opened for great deals.

The W202's are good cars, I've never said otherwise. It's just amusing how you recommend them all the time.

Stop talking about cars! You know nothing about them!

Honda has never built any engine in it is entire existence as reliable and durable as the Mercedes Benz M111 engine!! In Honda's entire existence!

You were given an insight on an overall situation and you are talking about a particular engine. Why not make researches about overall without failures. Honda has gearbox defects but when it comes to engine.. number 1

dam! You need to leave Nigeria, If you have the money, and dont care about money and soley want a comfortable ride, mercedez is for you. However, they are a pain in the ass to fix and maintain. They are extremely over engineered. They are designed for superior comfort and drivability in mind for the luxury consumer… whereas Honda/toyota is designed for reliability and affordability. With this being said, Honda/toyota is the superior vehicle. Much more reliable. No electrical issues, and minor maintenance costs. Mercedez maintenance and minor repairs get expensive with how much stuff you have to take apart to perform a seamingly simple repair, waste of money on the long run

I fix my cars myself. Keep your mind on the op's request and vehicle list or go and create your Toyota thread.

Honda CRV 1998 - 2000
Mercedes-Benz C200 1999 - 2000
Honda civic 2000 - 2006
Ford focus 2003
Peugeot 307/406 2000 - 2003
Volkswagen passat 2000 - 2003

And like I said earlier.... Honda has never created a reliable engine like the M111 Mercedes Benz engine. Either in the past or present nor in the future!

The reason people like you fail woefully. People are talking about research and results and you are talking about assumptions. We are talking about the only company to get approval in the last 23 years to manufacture jet Engines. Honda

With the Honda and Mercedes rivalry here, i am getting even more confused, I need a car of less fuel consumption, less maintenance cost, reliability in a Nigerian settings and perhaps a Nigerian used at a said budget.

Please clear recommendation only needed, i was told of the Mercedes c-class the w202, Honda civic and cr-v 2003- up

recently i noticed a Mazda primacy too, with good interior space.

please just a free recommendation will be appreciated
