This response shows a lot of ignorance! Most Yoruba towns have the major roads leading into town passing through the ancient parts of the town where you have century old buildings. Certainly you should know that a town that has a University, Fed. Poly, Navy School and many reputable private institutions like Adesoye College will have beautiful buildings in other areas. Most old Yoruba towns have GRA and new layouts totally off the town centre.

By the way, politicians prefer to pass through the centre of the town for crowd effect (real, paid for or coerced by circumstances.)

Most of the older parts of those towns and cities
such as Ibadan are close to 200 years or more,
and these areas have GRAs and beautiful mansions
and duplexes/well-built bungalows in "new sites."


Some trolls from the SE of Nigeria like talking about
or making snide remarks about the so - called
brown roofs in the Yoruba parts of SW and NC
but fail to realize that during the Nigerian Civil War
of 1967-1970, heavy bombardments and shelling from the rebels and Federal Forces led to the
complete destruction of several SE villages and
towns according to the Civil War books I've read
from war correspondents working for the media and former soldiers. Mr. Sobowale, a Senior Journalist
and Nigerian Civil War correspondent said Awka
in Anambra State was completely destroyed by
bombings from both sides when he was there in the
late 1960s.


This then gave them the chance to build newer
houses and 4-5 floor buildings... It takes no rocket
science to deduce all these FACTS if one is
observant by reading and paying attention to little
details!

But Offa and Ilorin aren't Yoruba town in true essence but Muslim emirate
