I just hope they carry the same enthusiasm to the polls to vote.

Meanwhile, having ex-BBNaija housemate on your CV is apparently more lucrative than a first class.

As long as electoral violence persists and the armed forces are allowed to intimidate and abuse citizens with impunity at the polls, BBN auditions turn-out and votes will always trump election turn-out.

On Friday morning, Nigerians woke up to an incredible amount of youths storming the 8 audtion centers for this year's edition of Big Brother Naija.

Alot of Nigerians are blaming the ASUU strike, joblessness and the government for the turnout of youths at the audition centers.

According to a twitter user, 'the crowd at the #BBnaija auditions is proof of our flawed value system and our failed government. I am not against anyone going to audition for it, but when this is what majority of our youth see as a way to escape poverty, then we have a serious problem'.

It’s a shame that these youth would in turn go out to vote either PMB or Atiku people that messed up the system for them.

I don't see anything wrong here. The prize money is huge and it can change someone's life. Even in America where things are much better, if there is something like BBN there and the prize money is like $100 million American youths will still rush it like Nigerian youths are rushing this BBN.

You also talked about work. Where exactly is the job?

I see your point.

I however do not think we should use America as benchmark in everything. They have gone very far (in terms of industrialisation, automation, academics etc) so they can afford to look away and allow some segment of the youth population do just whatever they like. We are still far behind and I think we should focus more on constructive things. The rate at which people do not want to work in our country (from the thiefing politician down to the cleaner who is stealing madam's pants for yahoo stuff) should raise concerns. I dont know about the shows in America - do they have people jumping the walls to get in?

I thank God I am not jobless anymore. A few weeks ago I was a fellow Nairalander writing epistles upon epistles on frontpage topics.
We are here laughing at them for not having jobs meanwhile the majority of you guys are in the same or worse shoes. No one can tell me these ‘please gift me 20k’ scammers who populate here have legal forms of income.

Before you blame Blacks or government, why not take a moment to wonder why the winner gets such a huge win and participants become overnight stars. We are the ones who watch these useless shows, no one forces us to view it but we do, religiously, making advertisers cash in, the show gets sponsorship and the actors get their cut, so how are our leaders to blame for this?

We have Ashow called Next titans... And other similar shows like that

The average Nigerian youth is just intellectually lazy

I always ask people what did the American government contribute to facebook, instagram, twitter, google, amazon, Tesla and the rest that is not available today

I understand where you're going but I will step in and say that the government of US did this:

- established good, and well equipped, public education system to train their young
- provided stable light, and built the backbone and initial funding for a pervasive Internet
- provided fair and stable economic system
- provided a social safety net, so even if you failed, you won't perish
- provides subsidies (erm. tax rebates) so people could afford Tesla's cars
- provides good roads so Amazon could be sure of getting and delivering its products
- keeps the dollar stable so it doesn't halve in value after one year

Castigating Nigerian youths for not being able to achieve the same as US youths, growing up with drastically different - and disabling - environment is not fair or encouraging.

Nigeria is so blessed imagine a country with this youthful population but unfortunately our blessing is like a curse. One message I have for the youth is this, every body cannot be in Lagos, every body cannot go to school and not everybody will do while collar job look around you and know how you can turn the resources around you to wealth.

your country is a failed country

don't blame the youths, or any "value system"

children born in Nigeria are amongst the most unfortunate on earth

your parents are economically castrated so they cannot send you to proper schools or give you a good headstart as a kid

your govt has failed you and oppressed you so much that every day you live is a living hell

You manage to go to school

No Job /industries

You try enterprise, that one diea because of the failed economic environment

Nigerian youths on average has had a taste of hell

So when I see things like these, I am not surprised

All they are thinking about is avenues to help them escape their helliah existence .

So that is why you seethe crowd

Failed shithole

Stop Talking about USA like they are paradise, do you know the number of countries USA have destroyed just to serve their selfish interest? and Many Nigerians will still be praising this evil country

You need to see the audition stage of American idols, America's got talent and other talent shows and see crowd there. Some of them even spend the night at the venue just like this, those that can't afford to book hotels or motels sleep outdoors. Is that also an evidence of a flawed system? This is not about hunger or poverty or unemployment but more about using a platform to launch yourself into the spotlight.

Nigerians will be comparing themselves with USA. Do you know the number of countries USA destroyed and they are taking their resources just to get to where they are today? There is a Reason USA get the most powerful Army in the Whole World and there is a reason USA got Army Bases in every Continent in the Whole World, are they the World saviour? Check the number of countries destroyed by USA. They fight for Resources, and Nigeria is not going about stealing other countries Resources

1st class graduate: 5k inside envelope
Most beautiful girl; 10mil plus car
BBN winner: 45mil
Who is fooling who

No wonder such things dont happen in asian countries. No time for rubbish. AMERICA has succeeded in polluting other countries so they can be below them. Later the smart ones will be given residency permit in America. They sell u rubbish shows and steal ut bright minds. Osheeey!

It's not just Lagos that is bursting its seams

It's major cities across Nigeria

And you cannot blame them.

most states in Nigeria are failed states and collapsed entities with little job prospects

hence the mass migration to big cities
