XhosaNostra:I think you've misunderstood my line of argument! I'm in in no way making light of what Mandela went through, or saying that the Boers weren't an evil lot! I'm also in no way saying that but for Nigeria, Mandela wouldn't have been the outstanding person he became! Rather, i was trying to tell the m'oron i quoted that had Mandela had the kind of adversaries Mazi Kanu and Igbos have in Nigeria, he would in all probability been finished off in prison! I ain't making idle talk...our history is replete with examples of the murderous and malevolent nature of the problem we face in Nigeria! There's the likes of MKO Abiola; his wife Kudirat; Ken Saro Wiwa; Adaka Boro, etc, to help buttress my point! All these people mentioned were finished off by 'the Nigerian state' for daring to ask for justice for themselves and their people! They were not given 27 years in prison or allowed to write letters to friends and loved ones, and they didn't leave prison with their sanity and health still intact like Mandela did! It's this same Boers that finally caved in and ended the apartheid! Over here, if it came to a choice between giving up their privileges and toeing the path of justice, or maintaining the status-quo, our evil lot would sooner die than acquiesce to the former! As evil as the Boers were, i don't think there's stories of them going into villages and wiping out all the male population; engaging in murderous orgies of violence in the streets that saw tens of thousands of innocent individuals hacked to death within a space of a few weeks....with babies snatched out of their mothers wombs and smashed on the rocks! The situation becomes more dire when you realise this wasn't done by some foreign invaders...a different race, as is the case with South Africa, but rather the evil was committed by persons of the same race....supposed fellow 'countrymen'! Since 1966, Ndigbo in 'one Nigeria' (and other ethnicities) are equally going through a form of political and social 'apartheid' at the hands of the northern Hausa-Fulani oligarchy! Though i concede that it in no way is comparable to what the indigenous Africans were put through in South Africa! |

Wesely01:Why are you not disliking your federal Government for sending Soldiers to go and kill unarmed igbo people? You are busy disliking Kanu and your federal Government is shooting unarmed people just like Boko Haram and Herdsmen. IPOB are not armed, did not kill anybody, but your federal Government is sending Soldiers to shoot them Armed Herdsmen slaughtered thousands of people last year alone, till today, not one single Herdsman has ever been killed. You see injustice and you are calling Kanu when he didn't touch anybody |

in a fair fight, you don't fight a man who comes at you with his mouth and fist and fight him with a gun or knife... in saner climes, civil disobedience is a fundamental right of the people, as long as they are not been a threat to national security or other innocent people around. With that been said, the Nnamdi Kanu as much as I'm not the least fan of him isn't the coward here, the Nigerian Army is. And to buttress my point with facts(at least not amnesic of recent history else we might need a verifiable recourse to timelines), NK came down to Nigeria, got arrested, was tried for treason and jailed, make a complete mockery of the judicial system by challenging the hogwash pattern of his prosecution, boldly and fearlessly confronted security officers for maltreatment and in some instances even bullied them, gave fearless interviews before the press, rained insults on a whole president even while serving jail time... and even when released NK still continued tormenting the government with rallies that had the nation and its government on the edge of worry, I remember an incident in Ebonyi when he and his members fearlessly marched towards a roadblock of armed soldiers and dared them to shoot, NK led that March, the video is still there on YouTube... dude did so many audacious things that defy the arguments of him been a coward by any stretch of facts. At the end his excesses became too much for the Nigerian government which had to act fast... And of course the only option they had was to invade his home with motorized columns of tanks and heavy machine guns... against a man with just a handful of unarmed overzealous teenagers carrying flags, insignias, and the likes. This was definitely a mismatch, and only an idiot (even if you hate Kanu's guts), would have expected him to dance to a needless macabre of death and massacre when the guns and tanks started to strum the music of war. For all it was worth, the Nigerian soldiers were the bigger cowards here, taking tanks to the home of a mere civilian with a big mouth is the height of stupidity in itself, .. a complete aberration and dressing down to the dignity of the countries security. When it was obviously not in doubt that just a handful of local vigilante boys would have easily taken care of Nnamdi Kanu. |

midolian:How do you or your IPOB goons reconcile these two statements; Tell Buhari that I’m in Aba and any person who comes to arrest Nnamdi Kanu in Biafra land will die here. I’ll never go on exile I assure you - www.thecable.ng/anyone-who-tries-to-arrest-me-will-die-says-nnamdi-kanu/ampAnd “I ran away because Jubril (Buhari) sent the military to my house to come and kill me and they expected me to stay and confront them, I’m unarmed just as IPOB members are unarmed group" |

Xander85:I get your point & it's very unfortunate. Hopefully one things will change. The thing is, Nigerians also have to make noise about the atrocities taking place in your country. Perhaps form a military wing or something. You can't just sit back & hope things will change on their own. With that said, let me make a few corrections. A lot happened during Apartheid. Some people disappeared without a trace, only to find out later during the TRC that they were killed & fed to crocodiles or buried in secret mass graves. Mandela himself was sentenced to death, but got lucky because the international community was watching. His death sentence was converted to life (hard labour), where him & others spent hours working in the quarry. There they were breaking & crushing rocks. He contracted a lung disease due to inhaling dust. It's the same lung disease that eventually took his life. So no, he didn't come out with his health intact & neither was he sentenced to just 27 years in jail. He got released because the international community got involved & they were calling for his release. Had his case not attract the attention of the world, he would have gone down the gallows like countless others before him. Our situations are similar, what makes yours more tragic though is that it's your own people doing all these monstrous acts. It is heartbreaking to say the least. But there's always light at the end of the tunnel. We also never thought we'd ever see the day of liberation, but here we are 20-somewhat years later, enjoying the fruits of many years of struggle. People died in the process, but it was not all in vain. It paid off in the end. Mandela may not have died in Robben Island, but the time he spent there had lifelong complications. He came out a broken & sickly man. He's the 2nd one from the right. The row nearest to the wall.

Denton027:Unfortunately, the reasoning power of most Nigerians is from the stone age. Soldiers go to an unarmed Kanu's house, open fire, and some fools are wondering why Kanu ran away? Are these people for real? Is it when Kanu presents himself to the Soldiers so they can kill him, that is when he will be a brave man? What kind of person in this world will see armed people coming to kill him, he is not armed, but will offer himself to be used as target practice? These Nigerians don't even realise that the Nigerian Army commited crimes against humanity and the constitution by illegally invading Kanu's house and killing unarmed people. All they care about is why Kanu didnt relax in his parlour and allow himself to be slaughtered. The real cowards here are Nigerians who see the truth and look the other way, the bigger cowards are the Nigerian Army who took guns and Tanks to go and fight unarmed Kanu in his bedroom |

gidgiddy:Nnamdi Kanu vowed he will never go on exile. Nnamdi Kanu threatened to wipe out obasanjo lineage if he touch him. Nnamdi Kanu promised to go to Abuja and bring Buhari head. Kanu said if the zoo army comes to his house, they won’t leave alive. Ur leader is very stupid and a coward. All he has is his boastful mouth. Always saying things he can never do |
| Re: Nnamdi Kanu Explains Why He Ran Away From Nigeria, Abandoned His Followers by gidgiddy: 7:54pm On Feb 04, 2019 |
victorvezx:No matter what he said, nobody stays to get killed when their enemy is coming to kill them, particularly when they are unarmed to defend themselves What you should be concerned about is why you are in a democracy and Nigerian Soldiers are going to a person's house to kill people for no reason But how can you be concerned? All you know is that Lord Lugard made you a Nigerian in 1914 and Nnamdi Kanu should join you in accepting that slave mentality |

gidgiddy:Tell ur useless leader to control his mouth and only say things he can do so that people won’t see him as a coward, which he truly is. U should remember, he broke his oath, that under no circumstance will he go on exile. He also said It is either Biafra flag flies high or they lower him to the grave. It is now clear Kanu loves life. He has gotten very wealthy from this Biafra struggle, that dying is not an option for him. His entire family from his parents to his wife and children are all abroad. |

| Re: Nnamdi Kanu Explains Why He Ran Away From Nigeria, Abandoned His Followers by gidgiddy: 11:07pm On Feb 04, 2019 |
victorvezx:So he should be killed because he talked the WAY you people don't like? In which civilised progressive country do people get killed for talking? Is Nnamdi Kanu of any use to his followers if he is dead? Better he Is in exile and alive than in Nigeria dead. Nigerians like you don't even care that your Nigerian Army commited a serious crime by going to Nnamdi Kanu's house to open fire and and kill people. What you people care about is why Kanu did not stay back to be murdered to prove he is brave. Nnamdi Kanu shows the hypocrisy of "one Nigeria". Your government is sending Soldiers to go and kill an unarmed Kanu because "he talks too much" The same government and its Soldiers have not killed a single armed killer Herdsmen that slaughter thousands of Nigeria every year. But if unarmed Nnamdi Kanu talks, Pythons dance will start jumping out from everywhere and start shooting unarmed IPOB. Later they will tell us we are all "one Nigeria" where everyone is treated equally and fairly Who is fooling who? If anything, Nnamdi Kanu has shown everybody that Nigeria is fraud |
| Re: Nnamdi Kanu Explains Why He Ran Away From Nigeria, Abandoned His Followers by gidgiddy: 11:10pm On Feb 04, 2019 |
alenwup:So in your Nigeria, when someone talks tough, your government sends the Army to go and kill the person for talking tough? That means your government is no different to Boko Haram and killer herdsmen. They all will kill you for talking tough |

gidgiddy:Fa fa fa foul. Democracy does not give you the rights to threaten others, much less the head of state. Try that shit in the US with a threat to kill the president, FBI and secret service will come after you. Threaten to cut off the queens head and Scotland Yard will come for you. You guys know how to excuse and justify Sally's Kanu's erratic madness. |

XhosaNostra:Dont get taken in by the victim mentally of a small vocal minority. There is no comparison whatsoever between what you guy suffered in the hands of white apartheid government and what is happening in Nigeria. The igbos have representatives in all tiers of government. Their business, political, social and religious elites are all over the country mingling and interacting freely with other Nigerians. It is a few (maybe a little more than a few) traders, low income earners or jobless youths and some igbos in diaspora led by one jobless youth domiciled in London that is screaming all over social media and radio. A few jobless youth cannot determine the fate of a whole tribe, where there are legal representatives of the people. |

gidgiddy:Listened I have never for once supported this government of PMB and I will never. The issue of Herdsmen I have said a lot about it too that those group should dealt with . Kanu has a game his playing and allowing those young men to die innocently. |

| Re: Nnamdi Kanu Explains Why He Ran Away From Nigeria, Abandoned His Followers by XhosaNostra(f): 6:00am On Feb 05, 2019 |
wirinet:No, I understand that. But aren't the herdsmen killing & torturing people or is it an exaggeration? I was thinking more in terms of the collective, not just one group. |

wirinet:That's why you are a backward African. The countries you mentioned, freedom of speech is highly cherished. Go to YouTube and see how many Americans are saying they want to kill Donald Trump. Even Madonna, the famous singer, said she wants to bomb Donald Trump in the white house. Why do you think she wasnt arrested? Because all she did was talk. Go to Google and hear how many anti-monachist say they want to wipe out the queen and the royal family. Nobody is even getting arrested for that for the simple reason that the law is far more concerned about what you do, not what you say. Crime is usually an action, not just mere words alone. There is no law anywhere that allows the security forces to go and kill a person just for talking. Kanu has every right to talk, and if he says something which the authorities think is threatening, charge him to court. It is in only a backward society that Soldiers are sent after a man for talking, yet Soldiers are doing nothing against killer Herdsmen slaughtering thousands of Nigerians every year just because they are of the same ethnic stock as the president. If IPOB waves flag on the street and Kanu talks, they get military invasion and terrorist proscription If Fulani cattle men wave AK47, kill people, rape women and burn down communities, you will not see any Soldier anywhere and the Herdsman will never be proscribed. In fact, they will be talking about how to give them ranches and cattle colony. Why you are a backward Nigerian is that know this wrong, you know that people are not treated fairly and equally but you will still shout "one Nigeria" and expect everyone to pretend that all is well. I don't want to be part of a country where the government sends Soldiers to kill someone just for talking and expressing themselves, such a country has no future. |

XhosaNostra:I thought we were discussing the biafran agitation and it's comparison with the apartheid struggle of black south Africans. The biafran struggle has little to do with the herdsmen issue, in fact the middle belt regions had suffered far more from herdsmen than south east. Herdsmen/farmers clash predates the formation of nigeria and in fact predates much of human history. It took a frightening dimension when Herdsman started organising themselves into militias and started attacking farming communities. These started with this democratic dispensation from 1999, but has now exasperated into a major security challenge. This is due to complacency, incompetence and even sabotage by either the government or elements within the government over the years. The first solution of solving the herdsmen issue is closing and subsequently finding a way to manage the northern border, as most of these herdsmen are pouring into nigeria unabated from all fulani bearing countries of the Sahel. Without that the government is wasting it's time. I remember when armed robbery was rife in lagos during Obasanjo regime, OBJ simply read the riot act to the Benin Republic president and sealed the western border. The Beninoise behaved and car theft vanished in lagos. I doubt this government or any other government for that matter can seal the northern border. gidgiddy:I am aware you are prepared to strap a bomb on your chest to defend your supreme leader, but you cannot be allowed to turn logic on its head. This is what madonna said; Yes, I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won’t change anything. We cannot fall into despair. As the poet W.H. Auden once wrote, on the eve of World War II, we must love one another or die. I choose love. Are you with me? Say this with me, we choose love….Tell me how this is a treat to kill Trump. Now compare this quote with that of your spiritual leader; BUHARI BE READY FOR US, WE ARE DONE WITH PEACEFUL AGITATION, NOW BLOOD WILL FLOW, WE WILL KILL BUHARI AND BEHEAD HIM IF HE ENTERS ENUGU, NO AMOUNT OF POLICE WILL SAVE HIM”Any one that makes a similar statement in the US will go to jail. This is a statement that landed a US citizen ,Robert Watts in 1966; If they ever make me carry a rifle the first man I want to get in my sights is L.B.J.'It was after the case we nt all the way to the supreme Court that Mr Robert Watts was freed. Mr Watts was telling his colleagues that if he was forced to draft into the military, the first person he would shoot will be the president. The supreme Court held that the statement was not a threat. read more of the judgement here - https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/394/705 There is no law anywhere that allows the security forces to go and kill a person just for talking. Kanu has every right to talk, and if he says something which the authorities think is threatening, charge him to court.kanu has no rights to threaten the president, the security forces, Hausas, Fulanis, Yorubas and people who do not share his vision. How can you arrest him peacefully when people like you are ready to lay down your lives to prevent that arrest, coupled with the threats and Biafra Security forces surrounding him. It is in only a backward society that Soldiers are sent after a man for talking, yet Soldiers are doing nothing against killer Herdsmen slaughtering thousands of Nigerians every year just because they are of the same ethnic stock as the president.Nothing concerns Biafra with Nigerians being slaughtered by Fulani Herdsmen. If IPOB wants to be an advocacy group fighting for Nigerians killed and displaced by Fulani Herdsmen, good; but that is another topic. |
