In the link you posted. It says the Court of Appeal ruled that APC can field candidates in Rivers.

The OP says the supreme court upheld the judgement of the Court of Appeal.

But the OP also says APC can't field any candidates in Rivers.

There is a Court of Appeal ruling upholding the judgment of the Rivers High Court which barred all APC candidates in Rivers. That is different from another Court of Appeal Judgment staying the execution of the decision of the high court. The Supreme Court has by its judgment quashed every other ruling/judgment allowing APC to field any candidate in Rivers state.

this second position was probably because both parties had appealed the judgment of the lower court up till the supreme court so it did not overturn the judgment of the lower court, it only stayed the execution of the judgment thus allowing APC to field candidates. However, today's judgment by the Supreme Court overrides that temporary reprieve/stay of execution by the Court of Appeal.
