True. USA is quite high (about 14 per 100, 000 live births) for a Western country. Libya, Kuwait & Saudi Arabia have lower maternal mortality.

But still like paradise compared to Nigeria (814 per 100 Thsnd l/b).

Western countries on average does have the lowest maternity mortality compared to other countries. The high usa whatever is with respect to other western countries amd not third world countries of which Nigeria falls under.

An average British citizen is poorer than pre 2007 financial crisis but that doesn't make him poor when compared to third world countries or in OECD context. Context matters!!

Anyone can die at anytime. Health visitor & nurse only do their best to check the health of the mother and baby. Afta person don born, NHS go send yu go house the next day

So saddening most especially for the lil one who'd have to grow up without the love or smell of a mother...seeing how my lil baby cries at the slightest for only her momma's attention breaks my heart for this baby.

May her soul find rest and keep watch over her baby..

What if the dude killed her? Husband's all over the world are the first suspects. He should be thoroughly investigated and ruled out if innocent. That's who is done. It's not normal to die 2days after delivery.

Nothing happens by chance coz that is what I learnt in the hard way .. I didn't really believe in the traditional belief system of what the Yoruba's term as 'Emere' despite all 'pastors' I went to, to see into our future pointed to the fact that she would pass on after delivery of her first child... That I didnt believe because i didn't 'buy' into all they were saying.. This became reality at the end.. When I read the story of the demise of this beautiful lady, it brought back loads of emotional flashback... Mine happened last year October and indeed it was very sad, still yet to get out of the shock that accompanied it.. In there I finally believe the Yoruba notion of 'Emere'. The lady's story is just a reversal of mine, my wife celebrated her own birthday, same day she went into labour in the night, went to the hospital the following day, gave birth, few hours later she passed on.. Well some won't believe in this like I first did but the reality dawned on me thereafter.. She gave birth to a bouncing baby boy and three months has gone by, thank God for his provision, protection and love, he has been growing gradually.. To get out of the emotional setback is hard because I used to imagine that at what age, why should I be going through this situation, but I take solace in the fact that 'what would be would be' .. Before we come to this world, God has his own plans for us.. Anything life throws at you, I have learnt to accept it as it comes....
