@kidurbane

The update on my WES profile is that all documents received and they are reviewing. How about your degree certificate, have you found a solution to it?

Hi @dipomania,
I sent the fax to them as you suggested yesterday and I’ve sent a couple today also. They haven’t acknowledged any as my dashboard still remains the same. Perhaps there’s something I’m doing wrong. I unticked the box that says send in high resolution and color. I got information from someone that they accept only copies that come in black. Can you please pm me with a screenshot of the fax you sent to them maybe I’ll be able to spot an error or two on the ones I’ve sent to them. You said they received it immediately and I suppose you were able to confirm that they’ve received it almost immediately on your dashboard.

Hi guys,

The institution I graduated from is currently on strike, hence, making it almost impossible to get recommendation letters for the final completion of my application.

For those who have experienced a similar situation, how did you go about it?

Pls,what is the way fforward as February 15th is the deadline for submission.

Why not write or call the lecturers you intend getting recommendation letters from?

I posted my transcript about F2 visa rejection in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. I decided to reapply immediately, and I was able to get a date in Abuja. The screening process was quite long and tedious compared to Lagos. Also, my baby was a bit restless, so I kept moving back and it took a while for my turn. This is the transcript of the interview as I can remember it;

VO: Good afternoon.

Me: Good afternoon Ma.

VO: Pass me your passport.

I gave her our passports and I-20s. She took her time to go through the I-20 and typed for a while.

VO: Where is husband studying?

Me: He is studying Molecular Biology in the University of ABC.

VO: How long have you been married?

Me: We have been married for 4 years it will be 5 years in a few months.

VO: How many children do you have?

Me: We have one child.

VO: Has he visited since he left?

Me: Yes, he visited us in August of last year.

VO: I can see that there is a shortfall in the living expenses on the I-20, how do you pay the rest?

Me: My husband has full funding and we have some personal savings.

She excused herself and left the cubicle with the passport and I-20 for about 5 minutes. While she was away, I was worried that maybe she was not convinced about the funding. Therefore, when she came back, I quickly said;

Me: I have the funding letter from his school here, would you like to see it?

VO: That wouldn’t be necessary (while smiling).

VO: Was he working before he left for the United States?

Me: He was working as a lecturer, and he is currently on study leave.

VO: What will you be doing in the U.S?

Me: I will be busy raising my child as well as providing physical and emotional support for my husband.

VO: Have you traveled before?

Me: No, I have not had a reason to travel.

VO: Do you or your husband have any relatives in the United States?

No: We don’t have any relatives in the U.S.

VO: I will be approving your visa. Please excuse me I need to get a document for you.

Me: Thank you Ma. (I few tears of joy rolled down from my eyes.)

She left and came back with a document containing instruction for student visa applicants stating that students are only allowed to enter U.S 30 days before the start of the program and not after the start date on the I-20. It also contains a reminder to take along and present I-20 at the port of entry.

I give all praises and thanks to Almighty Allah. I prayed fervently, did several mock interviews, and prepared written answers to likely questions. I big thank you to everyone on this thread. I learned a lot from here. By the way, I use full hijab that covers me from head to toe. I hope this will encourage and be useful for someone.

For university admissions, it's best to choose the course by course evaluation. Either you use WES icap or WES basic. The WES icap costs 205 USD (74k naira) and the WES basic costs 160 USD (58k naira). WES Icap ensures your records are saved with them and you can easily send the transcript to any other school at a later date. The WES basic doesn't offer this. Then there's cost for sealed envelope.

For shipping the evaluated documents to you, you could either choose 7 USD for standard delivery or 75USD for courier delivery. For the WES icap just budget 249USD (91K) to get a copy and to send to your school of choice.

Your transcript has to come directly from your school due to incidents of fraud. Plus you'd need to send your WAEC transcript from WAEC Office directly and waec scratch card.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I really appreciate! @The Bolded... Do I have to still send my WAEC transcript and scratch card even when I'm evaluating my BSc transcript for Masters admission ..?

NOTE: Cleaveland State University is waiving the $40 application fee on February 14, 2019, for new graduate applicants. For the Viking Application, select “pay by mail” to submit.

You do not have to complete the entire application on February 14th to get the waiver. You can submit transcripts and/or test scores at a later date.

How true is it?

From the statement you made that ''you are making moves'', I guess you have not been admitted yet.

I have few questions for you.

a. Have you written any standardize test?
b. Do you have good score to get funding? (Even though funding are mostly available in Fall)
c. Have you evaluated your transcripts?

The month of ''May'' from now is less than 3 months, which makes it a bit hard considering the time frame.
The main thing is getting admitted to your school of choice first before considering embassy.

For now I will advice you apply and get admission first before worrying about the embassy. Quite a few schools still have summer application open for now.
You can apply to the embassy even within 30 days to resumption, but applying two months ahead gives you enough time to prepare & even reapply should you be denied on your first attempt. There is no rule of thumb that it must be 2 months before resumption.

Follow this:

1. Search for schools that offers your choice of course and suit your career goal.
2. Check their admission requirement.
3. Apply to atleast 2, 3 or more. ( spread your risk)
4. If admitted. Order for your I20 form.
5. Fill your form DS 160 accurately and correctly.
6. Pay SEVIS fee atleast 3 days before going to the embassy for interview.
7. Pay Visa fee.
8. Prepare very well for your interview. Go to the embassy with these documents or more as it apply to you.

1. Appointment letter
2. Nonimmigrant Visa - Confirmation Page (DS-160)
3. Visa fee receipt (GTB)
4. Original I-20
5. SEVIS I-901 payment confirmation
6. International passport
7. Birth certificate
8. (1) 2X2 passport
9. Diploma or degree Cert.
10. Standardized test scores (if applicable)
11. Admission letter.

9. Get your Visa and then travel within 30 days before the resumption date on your I20

This is my little advice. I think it will be better if you focus on fall admission session. It all depends on you.

I believe the gurus will add or remove from it.
