A professor once told me that some degree course are becoming unattractive and the earlier people realize it the better their chances of success. It might interest you to know that there are some skills you will acquire within 6month to 1year that will prepare you better off than a graduate who study a related course for 4years?

I recently came across a thread which was about the courses you won't advise anyone to study. I saw people listing so many damn courses. The question now is, what are those good courses that one can stil study in Nigeria that are lucrative? I think that no matter how bad the economy seems to be, it won't be possible that all the courses are useless.
STEM ( Science Technology Engineering and Mathematic) any course from the list is fine. Personally Medicine and Engineering will be top in the list.

Dentistry is a very lucrative course. If you don't go to the hospital, you won't know how many persons troop in the dentistry ward every day. You would be amazed of the number of persons that go for treatment in the dentistry ward.

I once worked as a Biomedical Engineer, servicing and troubleshooting their Dental chairs in one of the Federal teaching hospitals. That was when I knew that people really do have lot of problems with their teeth.

Every day, up to 60 persons must come for treatment. Sometimes you have to wait till it gets to your turn.

Thanks for the clarification sir/ma. I never knew that before.

Teaching/Education. I got my sibling to do BSc/BEd Chemistry. He moaned to death. On graduating with a solid 2.1, I got him over to the UK to study for a 1 Year MSc, whilst doing this, we got his certificates accredited, he secured a teaching job in a UK private secondary school that secured him work permit. The rest, as they say, is history. He’s doing extremely well. If you see the world as your oyster, even nursing would land you good money in developed economies. Did I mention medical students were mocking my sibling when he was doing his education undergraduate degree and his girlfriend who was a nursing student (now working as a nurse in London)? Those medical students are now hapless doctors in dilapidated Nigerian hospitals. grin grin grin

Wow, the Lord is Good.

Wer u will enjoy d course very well is outside d country.

Study medical courses ( medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, pharmacy, medlab, radiography, physiotherapy). You will always get a job right from just leaving school before going for internship/housemanship sef..
Then engineering courses,( 2.1 is a must here) and get IT certifications and skills along the way.
Computer science and related courses with bad ass programming skills.

Then low key courses like Quantity surveying, Geoinfromatcis, I know students who are already going for Jobs with their lecturers who are practicing while still in school and Making good cash.

For art/humanitites go for Ecostat, accounting and get chartered with good knowledge of softwares like Sage, peachtree, SPSS, E-views and other data analytic softwares..

Law is saturated already. Only those highly connected or from well to do home that won't start putting pressure on you once you graduate to start taking care of the family because law takes time before you can get established successfully.

For those general let my people go courses like ISD, history, sociology etc find a career path: Human Resource, Data analyst, IT if you are cut out for it etc. Just a BSC in those courses hardly have any relevance.
Don't just study any course because you want to graduate and be free, this is Nigeria and not US, so many courses don't have real world Application here.

I'm studying Physiotherapy in OAU and now in Part 3....Physiotherapy is not in anyway related to treating mad people. but it is the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.

Not as lucrative as the ones I put on bold.

Nursing, Medicine, Radiography are good courses to study in Nigeria and stand a chance of at least securing a job after graduation.

Not that they will make you rich, no, they will at least give u a job to start life with while other of your mates are still job hunting around.

But if you want to be rich via career in Nigeria, forget medicine, radiography or nursing, unless u are ready to travel outside Nigeria to US, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, etc and be ready to work your ass off with overtime hours to make it big and maybe end up rich and be ready to further beyond your first degree too lipsrsealed

But why's no one talking about Art courses? Does that mean one can't find any lucrative course there?

Which stupid med lab? Over saturated. I wanted my bro to do radiography but he hated anything biology. Abeg, continue with your radiography and learn how to ne diligent so you learn the techniques well. Got a friend doing well from it and highly respected. Consultants Doctors always want him to work with them. If he is. Ot on duty, they wait till he resumes and rush him. His colleaques hate him but who dem epp? So you need to be good not just having the degree
