What did your father do to protect the company from folding up? My father is suffering from keeping quiet now while he watched corrupt people steal funds and say nothing. Time does catch up. Been quiet while others do the wrong thing we all suffer for it and the one that kept quiet then suffer the most.

When the government announced payment of Nigerian airways pensioners September last year, we were all very happy and relieved as their last payment was over 10years ago. Verifications started in October and my father finished his on the 24th of October, credit alerts started coming in in November but my father never got any. In December he got less than a 100K which was his supplementary payment and till now, his main money hasn't come in. He has called and visited their offices plenty times and it has been one thing or the other. They did say it wasn't a verification issue though.

After weeks of back and forth, he had to go to Abuja two days ago, please note that we live in Lagos and this is an elderly man. With no real reason, it now seems like some people have messed with the money and hope that he gets tired and gives up. He is not the only one affected, from what i heard they are about a hundred and some have gotten tired and resigned themselves to fate, these people are old people that have worked for this money, it is bad enough that the payment took over ten years to be paid, now imagine your colleagues spending their money while you look on

He is still in Abuja and making no head way, this isn't right, we do not know what to do again

@lalasticlala

This is one of the issues I have with Buhari. We never asked you to come and distribute money for us when they voted you in(didn't vote for him). Only for you to come and started collecting money and call it fighting corruptions. Leaving institutions to suffer. We expected him to strengthen institutions in such a way that to steal will be difficult and people will be forced to do thing right. This can only be achieved by paying merited minimum wages, scrutinize the system and block the leakages. Buhari kept collecting looted funds and fighting corruptions but not but not fundamentally subjecting people to unnecessary hardship. By the time he leaves and if the successor doesn't believe in his corruption fight, looting begins again because the institutions are still porous thus Nigeriams just suffered for fun for the period of time he ruled. How would a nation grow in that manner. As of today status quo still remain in Health sector(desk nurses still call patients by their diseases names..madam diabetes) cob webs in public hospital wards, education still dying-no reform, transport sector same way, go to airports then you would know that nothing is changing or has changed, let alone road transportation at least during obj, there's a policy of 3 passengers per seat, interior dept/sector is getting worst-customs still killing people at random, they still collect bribes, police still killing extra judicially, collect bribes, become legit yahoo-yahoo, etc, housing- no effect still no low cost housing, people still pay rents per annum... The list can go on and on.

No one expects him to come and perform wonders, policies are only things we need. Then, if some clogs are not letting the effort come to effect, Nigeriana are not fools they will know.

We are just confused in Nigeria!

Those are one of the many failures of Atiku.

He sold NEPA, Nitel, and Nigerian Airways... and they failed to pay the pension of many of these folks.

He has vowed to sell NNPC too.

I am surprised lots of Nigerians are even considering voting in this guy.

You don’t do the same thing over and expect different results.

Sowore all the way.
Bro I'm telling you the buyers of the so called federal parastatals didnt pay a dime, do your research well and you will get to know Atiku owns Eko Electric Distribution Company while Obasanjo is the owns Ikeja distribution, I live in Lagos and Nepa personnels themselves have been confirming it

So Atiku is to blame for selling off non producive ventures like Nigeria Airways,, Nitel etc .Those agencies were dead .retaining them would have been money down the drain . Those who bought them can't even resurrect them ..who loose ? Surely not government. If your father's car is knocked and is being used for transport but no money is coming in but you have to pay the driver and also maintain the car won't you sell it off ? Didn't Oshiomole sold off Edo line
As for Sowore , he hasn't prove himself in any way . Let him contest for Lagos governor and wrestle Lagos from the Jagaban first then we know he is ready

From a legal perspective- the sale was shady - and a lot could have been done to make sure that the sale yielded positive results.

Secondly- your analogy of my dad’s old car begs the question; if I sold off my dad’s old car... shouldn’t I pay off the driver and mechanic who maintained the car initially, failing which I use the proceeds to pay them off?

If your ur dad or mum was part of those who had to wait years to get paid what they worked their hearts out for - I m sure you won’t defend those thieves.

Emmanuel Macron wasn’t a governor in France before he was elected president... I just detest having to recycle same old guys who made a mess of Nigeria’s commonwealth. Even Obasanjo attested to Atiku’s corruption.

Try and tag the DG of PTAD, Sharon Ikeazor on Twitter - @sharon_ikeazor

You can also tag @PTADNigeria

Both handles are usually very responsive to enquiries. I'm sure this matter can be investigated and resolved.

Many people had this issue of underpayment. Some didn't get at all. After some months it was resolved and they got arrears. This happened in DSC few months back and they are all being paid monthly now.

My advice? He is in Abuja. Not making a headway. If he goes to Brekete Family, you'll be shocked at how quickly the issue will be resolved. I guess you don't know much about them. I don't think you can push his case from Lagos via email and calls.

Atiku sold Nigeria Airways and didn't pay off the pensioners.
Buhari came and ordered the payment, however, it appears some ppl within the system are cheating the pensioners.

If anyone is to be blamed it is Atiku who first stole their money then these ppl who following in his footsteps.

BTW, my father in-law is also a victim; although his case is much better; he has been paid about 75% due to him; while the remaining 25% is another thing

So Atiku sold Nigerian Airlines and pocketed the money. Till date EFCC hasn't traced the money to him?

exactly our problem too, they have refused to pay the families of deceased pensioners, we went through the verification process only for the Union to claim the payment is for pensioners that are alive. but when the government asked for a list of the pensioners they submitted all the names only for the Union to sit and remove the names of dead pensioners afterwards. Some families with deceased relatives who got paid had to bribe the Union heavily.
