Good morning mamas and grandma. I've been a peeping Tom on this thread but I've decided to repent.

I need help please. My almost 5 month old has been stooling about 4 times a day for about 5 days now. I started giving her flagyl, zinc and probiotic as recommended by a matron. She eats well and is very active except when the poo comes. She takes brown pap as she has stopped breast feeding since 3 months (I wasn't lactating well and she stopped sucking altogether)and just formulae is no longer enough for her(She used to take 180ml every 2 hrs till I introduced the pap.). Please is there anything else I can do? She's on day 3 of the 5 day treatment nd still pops 4 times. Help please.
Please, change the pap to only corn and see if her system adjusts.
It depends on system, four times may not be too much, just continue with zinc only.
Do see,a doctor if after three days,no improvement.

grin grin I promise I have come out. So I read the pamphlet and it only slays not to give to babies below 3 months. I don't even know how I can increase her water intake. She doesn't like water. Im still trying though. As for trying other foods, is love to, only I don't know how I can introduce spoon feeding. First time I tried It, she refused to eat. I'll take her to the hospital this weekend . Thank you.

For spoon feeding, try giving her solid( puree and all) with spoon first before giving her breastmilk or formula because if you give her milk, she will be abit full and reject the food with a spoon.

Also, no rushing just patience and consistency.

Good afternoon mama's, grandma's.
Pls, i came across while searching for what to use for my 2yr old baby girl.
Pls house, I'm looking for a good body cream for her.
She do have rashes every now and then, I actually taught I was doing something wrong at 1st, but my doctor assured me that she is just like that.
He said I should even stop the antibiotics syrup, I should just maintain a good hygiene for her.
The last rashes and boil she had left her skin dry and somehow... I was advised to use Shea butter, I used it and it all cleared off.

Her skin is cleared now but kinda dull and I don't really like the smell of Shea butter and the way it makes her face especially oily after bath.
I just want a mild cream and soap that will smoothen, soften and brighten her skin.
Thanks

Hello Mothers!

Please can someone shade more light on nta for me and how to go about it.

My son will be 4 months old on Saturday. He's very agile, already sitting down, feeds well and play well. He's exclusively breastfed and I pump after feeding and give to him. He's gaining weight but not fat. someone told me, he probably has nta so I need to know about this nta and how to diagnose it.

I just discovered this thread few minutes ago and I'm a first time mum.

Thanks

With all you described especially the bolded, your baby is very alright.

All babies cannot be fat. Genetic factor has a role to play as well. A healthy and lively baby should be your focus.

Continue to feed your baby well, maintain good hygiene, stay healthy as a mum and watch your baby hit his milestones without stress.

Modified:
To put your mind at rest especially if your instincts tells you something is not right, please take your baby for a check with a paediatrician.

Cheers.

What soap do you use presently?

I believe any of the baby range of products in the market will be ok as they are mild on the skin. Just make sure you get the original of whatever you decide to buy.

I have enjoyed using sebamed baby soap for my almost 2yrs baby. For body cream, original coconut oil does a good job for us.

Make sure her daily meals are balanced too.

Don't change her cream or soap.
Try whipping the orí using a hand mixer and add coconut oil as you whip to get a fluffy body butter.
The coconut oil should give you the shine and smell you desire.

Try to keep everything she uses organic.
She must have sensitive skin

I have a 4m old daughter too.
Refused to sit but almost crawling.
Last immunization, I was asked what she eats, I said combination feeding. Nurse said she's small for her age, asked what her weight was, I said 5.3 or so... She said "oh, her weight is within range, she's just small".

I'm not even a bit bothered, her 2 older siblings were very small statured as was I when I was younger.
Once they clock 3, come and see them pumping up.

If his weight is within range, biko leave the boy alone with his smallie stature.

Honestly, they are just giving unnecessary brain turture. There is a lady in the plaza where I work, my daughter senior her son by 1 week. My baby is bigger than the boy as in very obvious. But as tiny as the boy is, his legs dey strong pass my daughter own self. Very agile baby boy.

My daughter is 4 months but madam has refused to seat o. If you try to place her to sit the next you will see is that she will already be trying to move to either left side or right and as if she's trying to get to something around her. But she sit and play very well in her bouncer

You will keep trying, you only tried once na. Introducing solids is usually like that, one spoon at a time at different times during the day.

A pharmacist prescribed flagyl for me, read it and it stated it wasn't for under one year olds.

Oh mama, this isn't good at all.
Dettol is a very strong disinfectant and even advised to be diluted before use....

The skin has a lot of beneficial microbes which are the normal flora of the skin (normal flora are the microbes that are part and parcel of that organ).
Normal flora microbes are not harmful, they are actually very beneficial and exist in a mutualistic relationship with the organ in this case, the skin.

What do they do?
They help to protect the skin from other parasitic microbes by maintaining their ground.
They help to digest some of the bi-products on the skin.
They give an indication if something is wrong with the skin.

Now, why do we need to use Dettol during bath?
To kill the microbes in the water and reduce the microbial load on our skin. So yes, when the water in your area is very bad or you've gone through a dirty or harsh day or you have a very sensitive skin, you can use Dettol (in dilution) with your bath.
If you feel she needs more protection then I would say go with an antiseptic cream.

Don't strip her skin of its first level of defence.

PS. I don't use dettol at all. My 4m stopped using it at around1 3w old and all my 3 kids have never had any form of skin issues (except for when they had chicken pox and that is viral).
This bottle is the only one I bought and I used it for my sitz bath for up to a month plus her own bath too ó.
