Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Africa, issued the following statement on the elections in Nigeria:

“Yesterday, Nigeria voted. Today, votes are being counted. I am very concerned by credible reports that the vote is being tampered with. To avoid any manipulation of the tally, it is critical that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announce without delay actual results — which are certified by party agents and observers — at each polling unit as the vote is tabulated.
“Well-placed sources report that in some states and localities — including Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia — INEC commissioners are receiving enormous pressure to alter poll results. This must not be allowed to happen.

“The eyes of the United States, of Africa, and the world are upon Nigeria and INEC. I also ask Secretary Michael Pompeo to hold accountable anyone who seeks to cheat the Nigerian people — who have waited patiently — of their vote or foments violence.”

INEC are under pressure to announce the actual results. Enough of the postponing already. You cannot avoid the inevitable.

Their plans must fail, it was crystal clear Nigerians have rejected APC and Buhari, but this lifeless tyrant is using the power of incumbency and political blackmail to cage the INEC, one thing is for sure, the will of the people must prevail....

Nothing dey happen. El Rufai or Lai Mohammed will reply them accordingly.

If INEC and Buhari don't take time this might be a line to share Nigeria peacefully(my opinion. No lecture pls)

It is gradually brewing up gently like someone predicted that the stubbornness of Buhari may eventually land him in the abyss of perdition. He is too desperate to be useless.

INEC better announce the true results without delay.

Even if Buhari forces himself to illegally remain by rigging and awarding himself numbers different from what was announced at the polling unit, he won't last there.

The wishes of Nigerians should be respected.

The people actively inviting America into this should remember how Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen and now Venezuela started.

You won't be able to finish what you are trying to start!

A word is enough...

That is why Buhari should do the needful by accepting the actual results. You can't Fool the elites. They have spoken and it is loud and clear.

Sometimes it's good to test out the purported heroes in the society to see that they are also evil just like every other human.

Few years ago as a kid, I held Buhari in high esteem but between 2015 and now, everything changed.

Idi Agbon and the likes of Zik, Awolowo and Nzeogwu etc will surely give a basket of "thank yous" Mr Death for coming to their rescue.

Ofcourse, if atiku is eventually declared winner, he should peacefully step down and hand over. My fear is the unrest the PDP is brewing that may eventually blow up if Buhari is declared winner

If there is anything to go by now, it's that both outcomes are possible and while APC is urging restraint, PDP is firing from all cylinders.

This smells bad, this feels bad, this tastes bad. When fighter jets start flying above cities and dropping bombs, it might be too late then.

Think!

though i was not expecting pmb to conduct free and fair election based on what he went through in the hands of pdp for 12 years, but things cant continue like this, his govt has done more harm than good and those around him are not helping matters by hiding the truthe from him, i wish pmb govt did well i dont think pdp or atiku would have the mind to come and challange him, nigerians would have eat them raw, but right Now pmb govt has really mess up, and pmb can only win this election through rigging which they have started.,, but late the will of God Be Done.

However the pendulum swings, I will urge us all to thread on the part of caution. The West (America and Britain) don't mean well for this country. Fact.
At the same time, it is high time our leaders stopped taking us all for foóls.

Honestly, SE is their nightmare. Igbos cannot succumb to that cheap blackmail. Any Governor that falls to that plan will never escape the repercussions.
Let the will of the people prevail in all the states of the federation. Our democracy is really hanging on the pendulum, it could swing either ways. Pls let's thread with caution.
