Ebonyi has joined Anambra, Imo and Abia(under construction) as states with flyovers. Only one state in the east has no flyover. Ebonyi has done well.

Underground drainage is too expensive. We must economize, resources are lean

Ebonyi has done well in building bridges to connect other parts of the state, so that everywhere will develop decently. Its good they have copied Anambra in overall development.

Don't come here and display ignorace. What's the economy of portharcourt compared to Ebonyi? Fund that would cater for 20 solid roads will be wasted in the name of underground drainage system. Let's analyse state based on the economy of the state and stop all these unnecessary fantasy. Someone will still come here and compare Portharcourt and Lagos or Owerri and Abuja.

First, let me correct you, It is Enugu and not Ebonyi. Secondly, I was not comparing any state economy just used the picture as an example. For you to defend mediocrity and it is appalling that we are still debating the importance of covered drainage in the 21st century that is what displaying ignorance is all about. Doing the same thing the same way and expecting a different result that is a display of ignorance, and not thinking outside the box to me it is also a display of ignorance. It is not about whether Portharcourt has more money than Enugu it is about doing things differently but with the desired result. The same amount of money used in constructing two sides open drainages can be used in constructing one side covered drainage. There is three diamension to open drainage, Let say each side is two feet deep just construct one side four feet deep and cover it.

The voters turnout in the east was abysmally poor. I don't understand how after almost 1.5million will collect voters card and less than 25% will come out and vote. Why then did you collect the PVC? We were even banking on your seemingly high numbers to push your candidate but you refused. I am seriously not happy about this.
Re: . by Purehuman(m): 7:44am On Feb 26, 2019
If we do not want to partake in the electoral process in the east, let us not vie for any position. Let us make it clear so that things will be easier to handle. I don't understand how we will have to suffer such setbacks by our own inactions.

The Yorubas you chose to castigate at every turn still came out to support your candidate at the peril of their own brother. And we always call them out. Vote your own well but you just messed up big time.

maybe our population is a hoax,or we are just politically ignorant people as we dont understand the importance of voting in a democratic dispensation.

i used to believe the igboland is one of the most densely populated region in the country but election registrations and voters turnout keep casting a doubt on my long held opinion as to regard population distribution.

To be frank, you are saying the truth. We keep making noise about our numbers but the numbers keep failing when it is needed. We should look at the people giving false records about our numbers because it is not funny.

monogamy have reduced our population from what it used to be in the 60s downward, though its a good omen but politically we will keep getting irrelevant in nigeria. just imagine what a state with cities like aba and umuahia delivered in a national election compared to desert gombe and katsina.

political education is paramount to us at this point in time,do you know that igbo votes in benue delivered atiku in that area? i was part of the process and many of our people voted pdp but the indegneous people except for the idomas voted mostly for the apc. it goes to show that most of SE residents are politically naive and disinterested in politics, most of the people i called on that day said they didnt go out to vote because it is useless to them, many of our people share same sentiments especially those at home.

All of you guys railing against Ndigbo for the so called 'poor turnout of voters' last Saturday should cut them some slack!

I've stated on another thread that the scheming and shenanigans to water down the voting strength of Ndigbo started months ago with the registration of voters and PVC collection! Coupled with the fact that Igbos who registered for their PVCs in places outside the south-east and south-south like Lagos, Abuja and other states in the core muslim north, had the collection of their PVCs sabotaged as quite a good number of them watched in astonishment as their PVCs developed legs before their very eyes and walked away into oblivion...never to be seen again!

You think the burning of electoral materials in Anambra on the eve of the rescheduled election wasn't part of the plan to disenfranchise Ndigbo?

Like i've stated before, anyone thinking the core northern oligarchs and their helper in Lagos will sit by and allow a free and fair process that would definitely see Ndigbo voting en-mass for Atiku/PDP....anyone thinking such doesn't know the extent of fear, suspicion and loathing these detractors have for us!

If you can't watch the entire clip due to data reasons, FF to 28.33 and hear what he said about our brothers in Rivers and Delta states (of which i'm one) and plans to bring us all under one region...albeit, still within Nigeria! smiley

I watched the video and I must say that Nwodo was impressive. He clearly did some very useful work in bringing together the Southern and Middle Belt Forums behind a worthy cause.

However, it was obvious from Mumuharri’s antecedents that those efforts were going to be ultimately futile. Some of us predicted that the elections were going to be massively rigged. And that was the case.

If the next few decades were going to be like the last few ones, then I would say that we should continue on this path of building bridges and eventually succeeding in restructuring this country.

However, without sounding too much of a Cassandra, the next few decades in this country are going to be very, very difficult ones. I can’t emphasize this enough. And it will be mainly due to two words, “Global Warming”. Of course Mumuharri’s incompetent economic management will not only exacerbate the downside but will also rob us of the ability to respond flexibly to this impending doom. Watching the “mere commissioner” debate Okwute doesn’t also give much room for hope in his direction. We are literally fcked.

Like I said in an earlier post, the likely scenario is that increasingly frequent droughts in the North as well as population pressures will increase the frequency and intensity of conflicts in the North and Middle Belt (and even start to affect the Northern fringes of Igboland).

As more countries switch to renewable energy supplies, government revenue will slow to a trickle. As economic and security anxieties increase, we will become an obvious target for scapegoating, given our nationwide exposure to commercial activities.

The threats are very, very urgent and while “building bridges” is good, we cannot ever again afford to rely on the kindness of strangers. It had failed us in the past and we can only expect failure in the future. We need to come together and craft a vision and pursue our survival with all the energy we can harness.

We cannot continue to wait for “restructuring” or even outright independence before we get our act to together. If we take the example of Slovenia (in former Yugoslavia, they ignored all the petty rivalry (like we have here; North vs South, SW vs SE), worked on building their homeland and were able to escape the eventual crises, virtually unscathed.

Make no mistake about it. Crises is coming and the sooner we started winding down our commitments outside Igboland the better.

Good points Curlieweed!

The meeting was done obviously before the outcome of the rigged elections. Sadly, Ohanezes’ calculations didn’t quite pan out as hoped!

The points you raised are germane, but we can be proactive in this regard only in the restructured federation Dr Nwodo was talking of; or alternatively, in our own country! Dr Nwodo talked of supporting Atiku and PDP due to their favourable stand on restructuring, but personally i don’t see any northern president or the northern elite agreeing to a change in the status-quo that would revert the political-economic structures of the country back to its pre-66 settings, thereby giving them a kick in the teeth and leaving them with the short end of the stick! If anything, Buhari forcing himself on Nigerians makes that dream even more distant and unachievable!

Buhari has an agenda to hold the south down while the north Arewa steals unmerited advantages over us in the political-economy of the country! A restructured Nigeria will dagbaru his plans, so as long as he’s the de-facto president we may just as well perish that thought of restructuring! Our only other option is to focus on achieving Biafra or we hunker down and try and ride out the next 4 years, hoping minimal damage would be done to our region and people by the bigot-in-chief sat in Aso-Rock!

Personally, i thought those thinking they could remove the desperate likes of Buhari, Oshiomole, El-Rufai, Amaechi, Tinubu, Keyamo, et-al just by using their PVCS were a bit naive and too trusting!

I agree with you to a large extent. However, since we agree that restructuring will be very difficult to achieve politically (especially with the way the country is currently structured ploitically), is it then wise to hang our hopes on independence which again depends largely on the "kindness of strangers"? While I think Biafra is the ultimate prize, watching recent events unfolding in Catalonia significantly cooled my excitement about independence. And this was an advanced democracy like Spain.

I think that given the urgency of the issues facing this country and our homeland especially, it is wiser to assume that the political status quo continues and utilise those strenghts that are clearly within our control; mainly our strong community organisations to rally arround to save ourselves from the impending apocalypse. We can and should be able to think outside the box and work around the strictures placed on us by the current system. We really have few choices.

Xande85 and Curlieweed you guys raised very good points.

But I think that igbos should start divesting their critical and important assets and moving it to the east immediately.

We need to start preparing for a future without Nigeria and get ourselves ready for all eventualities.

I can see so many igbo are beginning to realize this and taking actions but there are still so many that are drowning in the one Nigeria fairytale.
