My friend things are already hard in Nigeria
You are suggesting things get harder??
Increasing tarrif isn't going to build power stations

theoldpretender:
We need to increase generation and improve transmission.

And that cannot be done on bills less than 4000 on meter, 10000-20000 estimated.

Let's be honest, the laws governing the establishment of the DISCOS force them to charge below the production price of power...meaning they cannot pay the GENCOS adequately and the GENCOS cannot pay enough for gas.

And in my opinion, we need a sum far higher than our national budget to get to 24/7 electricity. Somewhere between $300-900bn. (Our reserve is $40bn.)

Fashola said 5 years ago that 24/7 power was not rocket science. The man should by now see how severe the problem is.

So either power bills go up ,or we take a loan, a hefty loan. Ghana has 24/7 light...because their power bills are higher than ours. Time we faced the reality.

You will wail for several years. PMB till 2023. Osinbajo/El-Rufai - 2023 to 2031.
Masari or El-Rufai/ Fayemi - 2031 to 2039
Fayemi/Tambuwal - 2039 to 2047

So where do we get the money to make improvements?

Ghana pays higher than we do, and they are just as much a developing country as we are.

And at the moment, oil prices are too low for us to make a decent living.

And then there is corruption.

Shebi we should take loans? That means much higher bills anyway down the road.?

Let us be realistic.

Despite the loss, what is remaining is still more than what your party the PDP left after 16 wasted years and $16 billion squandered on power. Power generation has always been flunctuating as a result of varying indices like water level for hydro-power stations, gas availability for gas powered stations, sun intencity gor solar stations, e.t.c. So, power generation does not stay stand stlled. Prove me wrong with facts you wailer.
So you are still on the 16 years bull shhit!
We are on the next level now, let's enjoy it together

PDP got us up from 1200mw in 2001 to 4000MW by 2015.

My observation and advise to the PDP governors and other opposition parties going for the forthcoming governorship election,if they don’t suppose Atiku to fight against this Evil electoral frauds the APC perpetrated,I don’t seeing any of them winning the forth coming governorship election, because what happened on the just concluded Presidential elections will be just an iceberg, earlier the best that they, all opposition parties should protects against it now,Atiku speech says it all,he is not fighting for himself but for what APC will perpetrate on the forthcoming governorship election,it’s rigging will be father of all rigging so let all fight against it earlier before the time.
Did PDP not rig?

We spend billions searching for oil in the North,
Besides where are all the power stations in APC's list of achievements?

Exactly. And as it's stands our reseve cannot foot transmission cost for 24/7 power. The only option is to make the masses pay higher bills. Everywhere in the world that has constant power the bill's are at least 40-50k per month in naira
theoldpretender:
Forget PDP, even APC.

The reality is that we need to face facts and realise that the problem needs trillions of naira to fix.

Not billions.

Yes, we spent 40million on oil search.I agree, that is a waste.

But that 40million won't be enough to get us up to 24/7 light..

We need to increase generation to at least 50000MW , and also replace our poor and outdated transmission system.

40m USD won't do it.

true that.
We want constant power supply but we ain't ready to dip inside our pocket and pay.

Yes, that is the harsh truth.

The reality is the power sector needs money. And that money can't come from the air.

generating stardy power for 200miliiom+ citizens isn't what happens in a blink of an eye.

Even some parts of China and India still lives in darkness.

How I wish solar production can be enhanced and subsidised..

Bros naira doesn't have value,
We are the highest population of poor people on earth,
Suggesting a price hike when salaries has not increased is just callous.
Besides APC claimed they have a couple of power plants about to start power generation

40mhuh

Bro, I already covered this. We spend 3 BILLION DOLLARS LOOKING FOR OIL IN THE NORTH

3 BILLION

That money could have added 3,000MW worth of Solar Panels that would start generating electricity immediately.
